                    ALPHA RAIDEN
Now this was unexpected.
The tension between Otis and Andrew was thick enough to resist the sharpness of a sword. It was a miracle that the people were still having fun and relating well or maybe it was all thanks to the delicious meals that the servants served everyone.
Fiona’s magic, if I must say.
“There’s no hope for these two. I thought they would be best of friends after the way they related with each other on the two occasions they met.” Lex said to me, keenly looking at Otis and Andrew through my eyes.
Andrew and Otis really hit it off and I was scared they would one day gang up on me to pull my legs but now, with Susanna in the picture, that was no longer a possibility.
Despite Fiona’s absence, the party ended well. Fiona didn’t return to the hall so I had to take the closing address alone before everyone returned to the homes. Otis tried to join the white wolves as they moved towards the exit.
“Not you, Otis. we’ve to talk.” I said to him.
Jeremy heard me and noticed Otis’s hesitation. He queried with a frown, “What do you have to say to him? He doesn’t seem like-”
“Fix your face and tone, Jeremy. This is my pack and I’m the Alpha even though I have welcome you in. Do not make me introduce you to the kind of man I am known to be.” I growled at Jeremy.
Jeremy’s eyes widened but he got the message and left with the rest, leaving just Otis, Andrew, and I in the dining hall. I noticed that the servants would need to clean the hall so I suggested we move to my mansion where we would have privacy.
Neither of them argued and they were both silent throughout the walk to my mansion. Even when we arrived, they sat on opposite sides of the room and left the drink I poured for them untouched.
“Will one of you say something? You are killing me with silence!” I kinda had to raise my voice before they snapped out of whatever trance they were in.
Andrew spoke up first, “What are we supposed to say, Alpha? What do I say when I just found out that my destined mate had chosen someone else before she met me? It’s not even her fault and it’s not mine either. She loves someone else for goddess sake!”
“She loved me but have you seen the way she looked at you after she recognized you as her destined mate? She was ready to let you mark her even though she wouldn’t let me do it at least not until she decided tomorrow would be a good day to make it official.” Otis murmured, his hands shaking visibly.
“I wouldn’t want to hinder that, Otis and you know I have no intention of disrupting your love life. It just doesn’t seem fair to me.” Andrew sighed, staring at Otis.
Otis responded to him, “I know it’s not fair, Andrew. I would kill anyone who holds my destined mate’s hand or claim that she loved him if I found her. I would have killed me with a huge chunk of earth if I were you.”
“I can’t kill you, man. You and I are friends and I don’t know Susanna that well. You can mark her tomorrow as planned and that will kill the growing bond between us.” Andrew retorted, talking to Otis like I wasn’t there.
And Otis replied like I wasn’t the one that forced them into talking in the first place, “That’s not up to me. It’s up to Susanna. She has a choice to make here and I know breaking a destined bond could hurt her spiritual energy. I don’t want her to suffer.
You are a good man. I believed you’d take care of her-”
“You are good for her as well, Otis and I will be assured that she will be just fine if she chooses you. No bad blood here, man.” Andrew interrupted.
Otis nodded and he raised the glass on the table, saying, “No bad blood.”
Andrew also took his glass and they both made a toast to their uncertain future. I became invisible to the duo as they began to talk about Susanna. Otis told Andrew about how Susanna grew up and Andrew asked more questions.
I thought I could leave them alone in my mansion and sleep with Fiona and the kids like I did last night but when I got to the apartment, I found Susanna there in a bad shape. She had been crying and Fiona had to be her friend.
This meant there was no room for me that night and I had to spend it with men who drank to stupor because they refused to cry like Susanna.
“That’s enough drink for one night, Andrew!” I yelled at my Beta when he tried to open another bottle of liquor. “Training starts tomorrow and I need you there.”
Andrew and Otis shared a look and they both burst into laughter in their drunk state. They talked about how I was a bossy Alpha and how Otis could use the wind to blow me out of my own pack.
Clearly, I was stupid to think these two wouldn’t gang up against me. Goddess knew I had never been more wrong.
“But he is cute around Fiona. He’s like a puppy when she is around. You should see the way he licks the floor she walked-” Otis added his own pinch of salt to my wound and only stopped when he had to belch.
That was how I spent the night. I got to sleep after the drunkards dozed off on the floor of my living room and I knew I wouldn’t wake up to my kids on my chest.
