ALPHA RAIDEN
Somehow, I found myself in Andrew’s home even though I planned to return to Fiona and spend the day with her after taking my bath. Initially, Andrew and I were called by Seth to one of the behest storage rooms in the pack where we found out that Jake’s information about Nolan’s warehouse was helpful.
We got the weapons before Lorraine could empty the warehouses.
We also got some modern appliances from other realms without having to go through Alpha Clinton.
I appreciated the warriors who made this possible and the white wolf trackers that went with them.
But after we sorted out every weapon and appliance that was brought in, Andrew pulled me to the side and said, “Can you please have dinner with me, Otis, and Susanna,”
“Why would I want to be there?” I asked immediately, ready to reject his invitation because I could tell they were having dinner together to talk about the love triangle issue.
“Because I need you to back me up,” Andrew confessed. “See, I like Otis but I feel like he has a better chance at winning Susanna, which I don’t mind… Or fuck that! I mind. I want her to pick me and I know I won’t be able to impress her if I am there alone.”
“How does any of that make sense to you?” I queried with a frown.
Andrew sighed, “It might not make any sense to you but I need you there with me. Please. Just stay in my house. You don’t have to sit with us.”
“Fine. I’ll be there.” I conceded.
There was no way I could take that back so I returned home and dressed casually for the dinner that I would be attending but not attending… so confusing.
However, all of that flew out the window when Susanna arrived at Andrew’s home and I realized she didn’t come alone. Otis who had been giving me a weird look since he arrived and saw me there, lightened up the second he saw Susanna and Fiona together.
I was shocked to see Fiona there but somehow Otis was happy as he voiced like a pleased child, “Fiona, you came.”
He tried to huggAurelia after hugging Susanna but she moved out of his reach and shook her head, “I’m here for Susanna, not you.”
“Ouch. So you can forgive her but not me?” Otis whined but Fiona walked past him, entering Andrew’s living room and sitting beside me.
Fiona acknowledged Andrew when he came out of the kitchen and asked us to move to the dining area where we found different bowls of food.
“I know you are definitely not a cook, Drew. where is the food from?” I asked as I settled down beside Fiona, of course. Andrew groaned, “From the pack kitchen, Alpha. Can we eat now?” Although he said that, he quickly connected to my mind and pleaded, “Please don’t embarrass me or pull my legs in her presence. I’m barely holding it together.”
I snickered in response as we all ate in silence.
I also tried to keep my hands off Fiona’s bare lap and my eyes on my plate all through dinner. It was difficult but I succeeded and we all moved to the living room after dinner.
“I feel like an outsider here,” Lex grunted as the tension among the trio with a love triangle thickened,
Before I could respond to my wolf, Fiona blurted, “When do you plan to talk? It’s beginning to get weird in here.”
Susanna used her elbow to jab Fiona but that only made her exclaim, “What? Let’s get this over with. I have other business.”
“What business could you possibly have at this hour of the day?” Otis made the mistake of snorting.
Fiona hissed at him, “I’m not here to exchange words with you, Otis. Mind you damn business.”
“I’m sorry, Fiona. I already apologized. What else do you want from me-”
Susanna cut in, “That’s not the reason we are here, Otis. You could have found her or cornered her somewhere to have this discussion with her. Doing it now makes it look like you don’t want to talk about the pending_”
“Yes, I don’t want to even though we have to!” Otis groaned. “I’m scared and I think I’m allowed to be.”
“And you somehow think I’m not scared of losing you or letting you go as well? Fuck, I’m terrified and that’s why I asked Fiona to be here.” Susanna retorted sharply.
The argument happened so fast and by the time Otis and Susanna were done, they were both standing, yelling at each other, and breathing rapidly, chest rising and falling.
My eyes quickly cut to Andrew but he was watching Otis and Susanna closely and I would be blind to not see the hurt in his eyes she looked at them. I also didn’t need to be a mind reader to know that he was feeling left out and hurt as he could sense the connection Otis and Susanna had between them.
Andrew slowly rose to his feet and uttered while looking at Susanna’s face, “I don’t want either of you to hurt because of a mere destined bond. The bond I share with you is still very weak unlike the one you have built with Otis-”
“Don’t even try to tell me that nonsense, Andrew.” Susanna whimpered. “You are just as special and-”
“But I can’t compete with this,” Andrew interjected softly, pointing to Otis and Susanna. “I don’t even want to compete, Susanna.”
“I am not worth fighting for?” Susanna whimpered again, wiping the stray tear on her cheek away with frustration. Andrew shook his head, “You are worthy of that and more which is why I’m choosing to fight for you by letting you go. I’ll fight the pain for the rest of my life-”
“You can’t do that, Andrew.” Otis caught on faster than anyone of us.
However, even he couldn’t stop Andrew from saying, “I, Andrew Davis, Beta of Crescent Pack, reject you, Susanna-”
There was a small pause as Andrew didn’t know Susanna’s last name and just when he decided to continue without it, Susanna closed the distance between their bodies, shutting him up with her lips, directly over his.
Literally, she swallowed his words.
Time froze until Otis walked backward, going for the door.
