Every day, I made sure I read at least five pages from my mother’s journal and I learned a lot about her, my dad, my grandparents, my grandparents, and Mia Lu who was still sleeping peacefully in her room.
The more I read, the less angry I become.
I had started relating with the white wolves again but there was still a bit of tension among us all. I was working on that as we have been training together for the past week.
The Crescent warriors have become familiar with the military techniques of Black Fur. It would be an added advantage if the war breaks out before I find a way to stop it from happening and also because no one outside the Crescent Pack knew I was alive.
They have also gotten used to fighting alongside the white wolves who have also become stronger physically. There was still so much to learn and everyone was keen to learn… to become stronger.
Everyone but me…. In a way.
I mean, I still haven’t tried to tap into my strength as a descendant of the King family of the White Shade Pack.
From what Mia Lu had told me in the past and that I have also confirmed from my mom’s journal, I know I can learn to use the abilities of the other family. I can be a memory reader like Susanna or be an elemental wolf just like Otis-
“Is he ever going to talk to me or even look at me again?” Susanna asked me, cutting off my thoughts.
We were both watching Otis train physically with Seth and to be honest, I was supposed to be training Susanna as well but we were just two women with complicated lives.
“You did kiss another man in his presence. He is allowed to suck.” I retorted and encouraged Susanna to get into a defense position.
Susanna put her hands out and braced herself for my attacks but still found the time to say, “What would you have done? Andrew was going to reject me. I couldn’t let him do that-”
She didn’t stop talking until I threw a punch her way and she had to dodge it. A few attacking moves later, I responded, “But that was one hell of a long hot kiss, Suzy. You didn’t even see Otis leave Andrew’s home nor did you notice when Lucas and I left as well.”
“Blame that on the intoxicating scent oozing out of that man… or maybe the mate bond,” Susanna grunted as I kicked her leg, this time using the mind link as she staggered backward on impact.
“As long as you are happy and contented with the bond you have with Andrew, I’ll support your decision to choose him,” I said to Susanna, looking at her as she regained balance. I quickly added, “Always make sure you aren’t exposed when fighting, Suzy. The battlefield is cruel and the enemies won’t show mercy.”
“You call this mercy? Girl, you are drilling me hard. How I wish I could force my way into your memory and cause some havoc in your head. Physical strength is overrated.” Susanna panted, complaining about the fact that she wasn’t allowed to use her abilities during this session of training.
I ignored her statement and simply focused on revealing how she was exposing herself by hitting her on every part she needed to be conscious of.
“Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.” Susanna uttered with every hit. However, the second I let her catch her breath, she muttered with a smile, “I can be very happy with Andrew but I’m not sure I can live with Otis’s obvious hatred.”
“He doesn’t hate you…” I retorted.
Susanna shook her head, “I’d hate me if I were him. We had so many plans.”
“Start making plans with Andrew and you will feel better. I believe.”
“Hopefully,” Susanna chimed defeatedly and we resumed training.
I didn’t stop pushing her until I sighed Otis jogging over to us. Immediately, I dropped my hands but Susanna didn’t get the memo. She threw a solid punch, catching me unaware and causing me to snarl.
“Payback is a bitch!” Susanna laughed.
“You are the only bitch I see here.” I retorted sharply and decided not to tell her about Otis who was just a few feet away from
us now.
Susanna was about to mock me again when Otis said, “Hey.”
She froze and inhaled audibly which made me smirk as I said into her mind, “Payback is indeed a bitch.”
Then I smiled at Otis as I greeted him, “Hey to you too.”
Otis didn’t return my smile and neither did he look at a quiet Susanna but he came with news that wiped my smile off my face. He mumbled, holding my gaze, “I got news from Lori. Mia Lu is awake and she asks to see you.”
It was my turn to inhale audibly as my eyes widened.
“S-she… When? When did she w-wake up?” I stuttered, blinking rapidly.
“Just now, I suppose. She was still fast asleep when I left the building this morning.” Otis said to me but added, “She asks to see you before the other white wolves know she is awake and they will know as soon as training is over because they will all go back to the apartment-
Otis started explaining but I zoned out until he said, “I understand if you still can’t forgive her but can you please be nice? You don’t have to see her now but-”
I stunned myself as well as Susanna and Otis when I blurted, “I’m ready to see her.”
It took a few seconds for the duo to bounce out of shock and Susanna breathed, “I’ll go with you.”
I saw Otis look at her briefly as she muttered, “Me too.”
