ALPHA RAIDEN
Two days after Mia Lu woke up, the purifying lake was established by the white wolves and I was with them to grace the occasion even though the creation of the lake wasn’t exactly a festival.
After the lake had been created, we all returned to the white wolves’s pack house where Mia Lu asked everyone to gather in the large living room. She stood before them all with Fiona beside her and for the first time since I met Mia Lu, my brain registered the resemblance between Mia Lu and the woman I loved.
I thought the white wolves shared similarities and perhaps that was why my brain didn’t register the resemblance between Fiona and Mia Lu until now.
The space was silent until Mia Lu started talking, “It’s no secret that I have asked every one of you to keep a secret that isn’t ours to keep.”
The white wolves hummed in agreement. I could see appreciation and adoration in the eyes of the ones closest to me as they gazed at Fiona. I didn’t know how good that felt until I found myself smiling.
“Allow me to reintroduce this woman to you, White Wolves.” Mia Lu uttered with pride but I could also tell that she was worried… worried about the future while Fiona beamed at her. “This is Fiona Seer King, daughter of the last and late Alpha and Luna of White Shade Pack. This is our Princess or more befitting, our queen.”
I have been cheered loudly before by my pack members and even by other pack members. However, it was nothing compared to the kind of cheer that erupted after Mia Lu’s last word. Hands were in the air and many jumped with excitement even though most of them already knew the truth about Fiona’s identity before now.
It was pleasing to witness.
“I, Mia Lu, the Spiritual Guardian of the surviving White wolves, hereby let go of the control of the pack and ask the surviving King to take over-” Mia Lu stated calmly.
However, Fiona cut in with wide eyes, “No. No. No, Tamia. I can’t take over. I know nothing about leadership-”
“You think you don’t but you were born with all you need to be a King, Fiona just like Tamia was born to be a Lu,” Lori spoke, interjecting Fiona’s claims.
“And we will be here to help you. Each and every one of us in this pack.” Otis voiced, referring to the white wolves as a pack. The white wolves agreed with a shout and Mia Lu held Fiona’s hands as she said, “The six elders will still exist but you will be the leader, Fiona. It’s your birthright and it’s time we start talking responsibility the right way.”
Those words made Fiona smile even though I didn’t understand why she was happy about responsibility… the same thing that was weighing me down at the moment. Responsibility was a pain in the ass.
“You will be taught and you will learn, Fiona. Just trust us.” Mia Lu concluded and Fiona nodded.
“I accept to take over as long as you all are with me.” Fiona accepted and once again, she was cheered on by her people and it only became louder when she added, “We’ll rebuild the white shade pack and be better. I promise you that as a Seer and a King.”
Mia Lu announced that Fiona’s training would begin the next day and Fiona encouraged the white wolves to take the physical training as seriously as they would spiritual training. She gave a speech and ended with, “A war is coming and all we can do is prepare tirelessly.”
After another hour of mingling and speaking to the white wolves, Fiona found me in the crowd. She came to me, wearing her brightest smile.
“Hey, Fiona Seer King,” I called out to her as she walked over to me.
Her smile widened, “Hey, Alpha Lucas Flockhart.”
“You have better names, Fiona. I didn’t even add your official title as the daughter of the Alpha, yet your name carries power.” I said to her as she stood before me, looking into my eyes like she was trying to see my soul.
I thought she would say something silly in response but instead, she uttered, “I’d have been fine being just Luna Fiona Flockhart.”
I sucked in a breath but she placed her palm flat over my beating heart.
“Fiona-”
She cut in with a whisper, her lips close to my ear yet maintaining eye contact with me, “But now, I know I’ll be better by being Luna Fiona Seer King Flockhart. If you’ll let me…”
I forgot how to breathe as soon as her words came together in my mind.
Subtly, yet in public and confidently, Fiona just asked me to be her mate once again…
She was asking me yet permitting me.
My heart pounded.
My eyes stung…
My soul almost left my body but this wasn’t how I’d die… I knew that.
And foolishly, my response to Fiona’s breathtaking statement was, “That’s a very long name if you ask me.”
I said that breathlessly, losing composure as Fiona scrutinized me with her beautiful eyes.
“Pull it together, man.” Lex snapped at me even though he was just as stunned as I was.
Before Fiona could respond to my stupid statement, I came up with something better, “Will you go on a date with me tomorrow? After training?”
Her training was important and I knew better than to keep her away from her duties. I also added out of anxiety, “It will be just us. No kids.”
Her eyes twinkled and she chuckled, touching my hot face with her soft fingers and whispering, “Tomorrow, after training, just the two of us. No Kids.”
I was starstruck.
It was finally happening…
She has forgiven me…
She wants me.
Fiona walked off to join Susanna and a few other female white wolves. My eyes remained on her as I pulled myself together and when I did, I ran off to plan a date… a perfect date for the perfect mate I was blessed with.
