My heart wasn’t beating.
It was racing.
Racing so damn fast and with every second that passed, I feared I would do something stupid and embarrass myself before Fiona who seemed to be composed.
How she achieved maximum composure was something I obviously needed to learn-
“Perhaps she would lose it too if you are in that dress and have that hair-” Lex groaned into my mind.
I could rip that dress off even though I have been dying to see her in it since I picked it up yesterday. I could rip it off because as much as seeing her in it kills me, the thought of seeing her without it sent me to the deepest pit of hell and all I could feel was pleasure… or at least the thought of it.
“Everything okay?” Fiona asked innocently after we both settled in my car and I didn’t turn on the engine.
I breathed, praying to the goddess that she wouldn’t notice the bulge in my pants, “Sure.”
I wouldn’t want her to think all I wanted this time was sex. I craved more from her but she was a very desirable woman who my body wouldn’t stop yearning to have in every physical sense.
“Doesn’t look like it,” Fiona murmured just as I started steering the wheel.
“Let’s pretend I’m not nervous, Fiona,” I mumbled under my breath and she laughed loudly.
“Why are you nervous? It’s a date you planned. I should be the nervous one.” Fiona laughed.
We chatted freely throughout the ride and I soon forgot about the need to have her naked in my arms. That was, however, replaced my fear.
What if she doesn’t like what I have planned?
What if it wasn’t what we needed at the moment?
What if-
“Quit thinking and move on with the plan. She wants this as much as we do and we don’t have time on our side. Tomorrow might be too late.” Lex started with a scolding tone but he sounded sad toward the end.
I shoved him to the back of my mind as I didn’t want to think about the obvious and focused on driving and chatting with Fiona.
“You’ve got a choice to make.” I blurted, catching Fiona’s attention. She hummed and I continued, “Do you want to eat first or do you want to go-”
“I want to go.” She didn’t even let me finish.
“You don’t know where we are going-”
She answered, “And that’s why I want to go, Lucas.”
My anxiety level spiked but I nodded and the rest of the drive was in silence. Fiona broke the silence when I stopped the car in one of the deserted areas of the pack.
She asked me with a small frown on her face, “What’s this place? I don’t think my outfit is suitable for-”
“You will thank me for that later. Trust me.” I said to her as I opened the car door for her, stretching out my hand to help her alight.
The area was isolated, but it was one of the areas I planned to develop because my pack members were growing in number, not to mention the white wolves.
“Be careful,” I said to Fiona as I led her along the bushy path.
She smiled at me, her eyes shifting from one side to another but she still couldn’t figure it out… at least not until we stopped in front of an open field with one building in the middle. It was still under construction but I could see everything coming together.
“We are having our first date in an uncompleted building in the middle of nowhere?” Fiona asked, brows furrowed. “Kinda.” I laughed nervously. “But it’s in the middle of the Crescent Pack and a place I plan to build for our family.” Fiona muttered, her eyes glinting, “Our family?”
To clear whatever confusion that had clouded her mind, I started explaining, “I know we can’t live in my mansion as it doesn’t feel like home and the apartment is not ideal for our family so I drew a plan for a new house together with the plan for Kyle’s library. It’s been under construction but the men had to stop working because they have been training for the war but I promise they will get back to it soon-”
“You are building a home for us?” Fiona whispered, cutting me off with the softest whimper I had ever heard from her.
“Well, a physical home,” I answered and closed the distane between us in one step, “It will only be a home if you agree to marry me again, Fiona.”
Yes.
This was a proposal.
In the middle of nowhere.
Before a structure that could be our future home.
Fiona’s breath hitched. Her eyes widened and despite the fear of rejection coursing through me, I let out the question, ” Fiona, will you marry and mate with me? Again?”
