Those eyes…
Those lazy and dilated blue eyes were doing things to me as Fiona licked her spoon in a very suggestive manner.
She wanted me.
In a physical way.
Or was I-
“Her scent tells it all,” Lex affirmed, groaning within me as Fiona’s scent became more dominant in the room.
I couldn’t even perceive the aroma of breakfast.
I mean, for someone who drained herself yesterday while trying harder than usual, Fiona woke up stronger and with just as strong needs. It became difficult for me to breathe without causing my groin to tighten.
But just as sudden as that happened, Fiona’s desire evaporated. I blinked rapidly as I realized that I could no longer sense her. Even Lex was stunned but I pulled it together and watched her finish her meal.
Aurelua muttered to me, “Thank you for breakfast.”
“My pleasure, Relia,” I replied, holding a smile on my face.
“I need to talk to you about training,” Fiona muttered again, this time, holding my gaze and speaking carefully. “Okay…” I dragged each letter in that word.
Fiona sighed before she began, “I want to prioritize my spiritual training because there are many aspects to it and to lead the white wolves efficiently, I need to be stronger spiritually.”
I kinda understood her words but I could tell that she wasn’t done talking. Fiona continued, “Si I won’t be on the training field much, Lucas.”
“Much or at all,” I asked to clarify.
Fiona responded, “I’ll try to be there but I can’t promise anything. It’s a good thing you don’t need me there-”
“I need you in every aspect of my life, Fiona.” I corrected her. “Having you on the field has helped many she-wolves to join us. You’ve also taught us a lot about Black Fur’s warriors. I need you there but I also want you to relax and if this is how you won’t drain yourself every day, I’ll support you.”
I held her hand over the table, watching as her eyes glinted with different emotions.
“Thank you.” She mumbled. “I should get ready to train with Lori.”
With that said, she left me in the dining area of the apartment, taking her plates to the kitchen before heading to the bedroom where she freshened up. We left the apartment together but had to split up.
However, I did try to kiss her before we went our separate ways for the day but Fiona stylishly avoided my lips and the kiss landed on her cheek instead.
“I’ll see you later.” She whispered to me before jogging in the opposite direction.
I was left confused but that was nothing compared to the next few days as Fiona started spending all the hours of the day training with Lori. The kids and I saw less of her and I could feel a strain on our relationship that was supposed to be healing.
After a few days, I started questioning myself.
“Did I do something wrong again?” I asked.
But I didn’t get an answer and I didn’t get to ask Fiona that question since I hardly get to see her.
However, I was able to speak with Andrew and surprisingly, Otis on one fine evening… in my Mansion where we have been sketching out the plan for the looming war. We were waiting for Seth to join us that evening.
“You know we don’t have to be weird around each other,” Otis uttered to Andrew.
Andrew breathed, “I know, Otis. I just don’t know what to say to you.”
“You don’t have to say anything. What has happened has happened and we can’t waste time on it.” Otis chimed.
Somehow, the duo buried the hatchet and soon began laughing with each other. It was at that moment that I decided to speak to them about Fiona.
“I asked her to marry me,” I said to the duo without explaining further.
Of course, they understood me and Andrew asked, “And she said no?”
“No.” I blurted but quickly clarified before they could misunderstand me, “She said yes but-”
“Then why the long face?” Otis asked me.
I sighed, “She has been distant since then. She said she needed to focus on training spiritually but It’s beginning to look like she is spending time with the white wolves to avoid spending time with me.”
I announced to Otis and Andrew.
While Andrew seemed to be deep in thought, Otis scratched his head, giving the impression that he knew something I didn’t know.
“Otis?” I called him, urging him to speak to me. I was close to losing my mind as I longed for Fiona every day… every second. “Just talk to her, Alpha Lucas because from what I know, she is training hard and the white wolves are worried about her.” Otis voiced concern.
“I don’t get to see her. How can I ask her?” I sighed for the millionth time.
Otis shrugged, “You can see her if you go to the purifying lake or wait up for her, Alpha Raien. It’s that simple and she is doing all of this for the pack… for the safety of everyone.”
I sensed there was more he wasn’t telling me but Seth arrived before I could push for more. We came up with various formations that day and when I got back to the apartment, I found the kids in the living room with Maya.
They were happy to see me and Maya left a few minutes later.
Like every other night without Fiona, the twins promised to wait for her but hours later, they both fell asleep and I had to move them to the bedroom so they could sleep comfortably. I returned to the living room and despite how tired I was, I fought sleep.
I dozed off a couple of times but when Fiona finally arrived, I was awake.
However, seeing her as she dragged her tied self into the apartment, I forgot every question I had and asked, “Have you eaten?”
“In the morning, yes.” She answered, oblivious to the fact that it was a new day already. “I’m too tired to eat right now. Perhaps in the morning.”
Before I could argue, she stumbled onto the couch, lying on my body, and instantly slept off.
I held her and fell asleep as well.
We didn’t get to talk until daybreak when Fiona shifted in my arms, ready to begin the day.
Or maybe I should say we fought that morning because I told her I couldn’t let her train today.
“You can’t stop me.” She hissed with disbelief.
“I can stop you, Fiona. You are killing yourself!” I snapped at her.
And the first fight since we got engaged began just like that.
