They all looked beat up.
They looked like they had been through hell and back. I told Katie and Kyle to go back indoors before Alpha Clinton collapsed and I couldn’t be more grateful that the kids didn’t witness the frenzy that caused.
His pack members that have been transported into the pack ran over to him despite their obvious exhaustion and wounds. My heart wept for them not just because I knew this was Tristan’s doing but also because no one deserved to be forced out of their home.
“Please get a healer. None of ours made it out of the pack.” The man who was holding Alpha Clinton cried out.
I noticed the resemblance between them as I rushed forward even though I could see Andrew running to get a healer for the fallen Alpha since he was too weak to be transported to the pack hospital.
“Well get a healer soon… hmm…” Lucas said to the people of Moon Dtone but directed to the man holding Alpha Clinton.
“Benji.” The younger man supplied his name. “I’m his second son. My brother already died in war and my mom died on our way here. Please save my dad. He’s all I have left.”
The young man’s plead caused my heart to clench again and I didn’t hesitate to kneel beside Alpha Clinton even though I hadn’t healed anyone in the past.
I could at least try.
“Let me,” I muttered, placing my palms on Alpha Clinton’s body.
I controlled my erratic heart and focused on Alpha Clinton’s almost non-existent heartbeat. It was slow and getting slower with every second that passed.
My mind opened and I could feel every part of his body underneath my palm. I could see through my mind which was the first step to healing.
“Broken rips and his bleeding internally,” I said out loud before I could stop myself. 2
Benji panicked, “Can you save him? Are you a healer?”
“I- I’m ” I spluttered, remembering how I had failed to heal minor scratches in the past few days. “I’m not a Healer.”
I concluded defeatedly as Alpha Clinton’s heart slowed down rapidly.
He would die soon if no one saved him-
“You can save him. Think about taking his pain away. Think about mending him.” Inara tried to encourage me.
But my hands began to shake out of fear… fear that I would fail and embarrass myself before all these people… fear of watching a man die because I couldn’t help him-
“I’m here. Let me see him.” Phoebe’s calming voice cut through my moment of panic.
She knelt beside me and I withdrew my hand from Alpha Clinton’s body while she took over. Phoebe instantly announced, ” Broken ribs and excessive internal bleeding. I need help to heal him.”
“She should be able to help. She diagnosed him correctly.” Benji breathed, referring to me.
“I can’t help ” I started.
But Phoebe grabbed my hand and placed it over Alpha Clinton, placing her hands over mine before she closed her eyes.
“Your energy is enough to heal him. Focus on letting it run through his body and I’ll use it to heal him.” Phoebe uttered with her eyes closed.
Rather than argue, I did as told. I let the same energy I have become familiar with flow to my fingers. I gritted my teeth as I extended that energy beyond my fingertips. Phoebe’s voice guided me, letting me know when I needed to do more or control myself.
Within two minutes, a groan from Alpha Clinton caught my attention and I smiled, pleased with myself for the first time this week.
“I did it.” I thought proudly to myself.
Inara jubilated with me, celebrating my first breakthrough in the healing world of the powerful Healers.
Phoebe took her hands off mine, allowing me to pull away from Alpha Clinton as she said, “Everything is under control, thanks to our Luna. All you need is enough rest, Alpha Clinton.”
Phoebe smiled at me before mouthing, “Good job, Luna.”
I would have told her to stop calling me that but I heard my tongue as Benji began to thank me together with Moon Stone Pack members.
“You can stay in my mansion with your father. I’m sorry for your loss.” Lucas said to Benji when the people quieted down. Benji muttered, “My little sister is still at the border. She wouldn’t leave until everyone was safe and I had to come with Dad.” Susanna chimed, “She will be brought to you as soon as she is here.”
Benji thanked her before he moved Alpha Clinton to Lucas’s mansion with Andrew’s help. I followed them, ushering the remaining people to the mansion as well. I found one of the pack’s servants in the mansion and ordered her to get more help so we could take care of the survivors from Moon Stone.
Soon, Zealina showed up with more servants and they gladly helped everyone while Phoebe healed their wounds.
As the seconds ticked away, I forgot about training with Lori and simply assisted Phoebe as more wounded Moon Stone members were brought to the mansion. Iris showed up as well and helped Phoebe.
With Iris’s arrival, I slipped away to check on Alpha Clinton and I was just in time to hear him say, “They came for weapons, Alpha Faiden. Our weapons failed to penetrate their skin. It was as if they were wearing bulletproof armor but they weren’t.”
Lucas urged the older Alpha to rest despite the lines of worry on his face.
However, Alpha Clinton didn’t stop talking until he said, “You should know that the Black Fur army was led by someone else. There was a woman and also a man who wasn’t Alpha Tristan yet he was formidable.”
The woman has to be Lorraine but who was the formidable man that took Tristan’s place in battle?
Could it be Beta Louis… but why would he? I mean, no Beta would take the place of an Alpha in battle unless…. Unless the Alpha was dead.
