                    ALPHA RAIDEN
A smile stretched my face as I put the blanket over Fiona’s naked body. I wiped her body with a wet towel and I intend to do the same with the couch we used in the living room, the bedroom door, and the floor before sleeping.
I didn’t expect the night to turn out this good, not after Lex reminded me of the risk of marking Fiona.
However, If I were to die soon, tonight would be the best night of my life.
I felt complete with the bond tingling within me.
“We’re back,” Lex muttered into my foggy mind.
Yes, Fiona and I were back like never before.
She was mine again and I would do everything to treat her like the queen she was.
However, I still couldn’t make her mine, not fully.
Doing that would make me a selfish mate.
“If only we can complete the bond by marking her,” Lex complained within my mind despite the sexual satisfaction that was zapping through my veins.
If only I wouldn’t die. I thought to myself, sighing as I left Fiona’s side, ignoring the noticeable erection between my legs.
If it wasn’t Lorraine, it would be Tristan and now that it was neither of them, it was death… Death was standing between Fiona and I. why won’t the bliss we just created last forever?
I want to be able to wake up next to her, kiss her, eat her out until she pulls all my hair out, and maybe have more babies- But my future was determined and as I cleaned the apartment, I hated the future and began to feel pity for myself, Fiona, and the twins.
“This was meant to be a happy moment. You should be sleeping soundly beside our mate, holding her and keeping her safe.” Lex let out a whimper.
But I wasn’t happy.
Which was why I left the apartment after cleaning. I left Fiona on the bed like I didn’t want to crawl into bed with her and never left. I left and walked to the border where I found Seth and patroled with him and the warriors on night patrol.
“Trouble in paradise, Alpha?” Seth raised his brows when we were alone, smiling as he could smell sex and Fiona all over me despite the big frown on my face.
I looked at my new Gamma, contemplating if he was someone I could befriend or open up to. I sighed, choosing to trust him with my life at that very second, “I have so much to lose.”
“You’ll lose nothing, Alpha. Not on my watch.” Seth stated calmly.
But if only he knew that there are some things he can’t change.
“I still think I’ll lose a lot even in death. I’ll lose time with my loved ones. I will lose the opportunity to see my kids grow, and finally teach Kyle how to defend himself when he realizes that the sword isn’t some toy Katie is obsessed with.”
I chuckled thinking about my kids.
“We are ready for the war. You won’t die, Alpha. No one is dying.” Seth reassured me out of ignorance.
But I smiled at him, taking his words without argument, “You are a good one, Seth.”
“You are a good Alpha.” Seth returned the gesture and we both nodded, ending the conversation there.
The rest of the night was spent guarding the borders of my pack. Nothing disturbing happened until a few hours till daybreak when I heard footsteps approaching the pack from the other side. Seth who must have heard the same sounds, found me, looking at me for guidance.
“Guard the entrances of the pack with your life. No one is entering this pack without going through us first.” I sent those words to every warrior in the pack, including those who weren’t on duty but excluding Fiona or anyone who could inform her. I looked at Seth and said, “Come with me.”
I led Seth away from the border and towards the sounds, intending to recognize what I perceived as a threat before it could get any closer to my pack.
But what we found in the middle of the woods that night was different from the kind of threat I expected.
