The sound of Mia crying was what woke me up That morning. I let out a groan as I stretched my body before opening my eyes and seeing my phone's dark screen staring back at me.
It seemed Luca had ended the call.
I immediately jumped up and went to attend to Mia first. Surprisingly enough, she hadn't cried as much as she used to last night. Maybe despite being a baby, she could feel the absence of her father.
"I love you" I murmured as I rocked Her in my arms. She cooed slightly and I placed a kiss on her nose before placing her down on her playpen.
She immediately began playing with her toys while I grabbed onto my phone and immediately, I saw Luca's message telling me he was going out for meditation and he would call me when he was done.
I immediately checked my time and frowned. I didn't know much about Meditations but weren't they supposed to be done by now? It was almost twelve noon.
I immediately dialed Luca's number and it rang but he didn't pick up.
"That's weird" I muttered to myself and tried it several times more but he still didn't pick.
"Maybe he's busy" My wolf said to me and I sighed then shot him a quick message.
"Call me when you're less busy" After sending the message, I went back to Mia and picked her up before taking her to the bathroom.
We both freshened up and got dressed then headed downstairs. After feeding her, I placed her down on her baby seat and turned on a cartoon for her before heading to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for myself.
Usually I don't like eating breakfast but Luca always made sure I ate something before he left for work. He told me not to forget my breakfast so I wasn't going to forget.
As soon as I walked into the kitchen, I paused in my steps when I saw the written down schedule on the fridge. My heart raced as I hurriedly walked towards it.
Had Luca come back without me knowing? Just as I was about to look at it, I heard Damon's voice behind me.
"He asked me to do that" I shrieked then turned to him with a glare.
"What the hell, Damon. How long have you been here?" I asked as I massaged my chest.
"Not that long. I came to drop that off and just had to check in to make sure you hadn't killed yourself or something" He uttered as he leaned on the wall and I sighed before turning back to the fridge.
"You alright?" He asked and I pursed my lips.
"I thought he was the one who wrote this but it turned out to be you. Your handwriting has only gotten worse huh?" I teased as I turned to him and he rolled his eyes with a slight smile on his face.
"None of us were born with good handwriting, it's in our genes. Anyway, Clara will be here a little later and I have to get to work. Now that Luca isn't here, I actually have to work" He muttered and I rolled his eyes and I chuckled.
"That reminds me. When he gets back, you better stop overworking him" I said to him with a pointed look.
"I don't overwork him, he loves his job and he's really dedicated. Do you know times I've told him to take a day off? But now that I think about it, maybe it was because he had been suffering and didn't want to burden you" He stated and I frowned.
"How had we not noticed that something was wrong? How had I not noticed? He's my husband for goddess' sake" I muttered and he shook his head.
"Luca is someone that knows how to keep that he really feels deep down, he's very good at that so don't guilt trip yourself" He said to me and I raised an eyebrow.
"Did you just try to comfort me?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Tell anyone and I'll slit your throat" He threatened but with a playful tone in his voice and I laughed.
Just then, his eyes darkened and I knew he was getting a mind link from someone. A frown appeared on his face and growled slightly.
"What's the problem?" I asked as his eyes turned back to normal.
"Your brother is the problem. He brought company with him despite how many times I've told him not to do that. I'm going to beat his ass up" Damon muttered as he turned away and I shook my head with a smile.
Dimitri had a habit of bringing strays or banished Wolves into the pack even though Damon told him not to several times.
Dimitri and Damon were always at each other's throat. After Damon left, I made myself breakfast even though it was already noon.
After eating, I played With Mia for a while till Clara Came with her kids.
Hunter and Haven were the sweetest kids but they were so polar opposites just like Clara and Damon were. Hunter was more impulsive while Haven always tried her best to correct him and tell him the right way to do things.
They balanced each other out and it was very evident that they were being brought up with love because of how soft they were either each other and Mia. Were Luca and I going to be able to bring up Mia well? Would she have good morals?
I let out a sigh as I pulled out my phone and a frown adorned my face. He still hasn't called or replied to my message.
"Are you alright?" Clara asked as she placed her hand on mine.
"Luca hasn't called or texted but I'm sure it's just because he's busy" I told her and she nodded then rubbed my back.
"He'll call you, don't worry about it" She assured me. Just then, Dimitri walked into the house with a huge smile on his face.
"Where Are my beautiful nieces And handsome nephew?" He called out and immediately, Haven and Hunter ram towards him while squealing.
Mia giggled as she clapped her hands while staring at him with wide eyes. He immediately walked up to her and picked her up, peppering her face with kisses. It was obvious who her favourite uncle was.
"Uncle Didi, who's that?" Haven questioned and only then did I notice the guy and a girl standing by the door.
The guy had a bright smile on his face while the girl just kept her head down as she played with her fingers.
"I'm Russo and this is my sister, Rebecca. It's a privilege to meet the Donovans and I'd hope you'd welcome us into your pack. Come on Rebecca, greet them" Russo murmured as he urged his sister who shyly stepped forward and as soon As she raised up her head, I was captivated by her beautiful emerald green eyes.
"I'm... I'm Rebecca and it's nice to meet you" She murmured softly and only then did I notice the look In Dimitri's eyes as he stared at her.
Damn, that man was in love...
