Lucifer and Mikael had expected that they would launch an attack, but they didn't. They merely stood in the same spot, their eyes unwavering from the two of them. Lucifer took it as they weren't going to assist Mikael in the fight or try and stop it him. He didn't know of the interchange that happened between Mikael and Uriel in Maon. On the other hand, Mikael was suspicious of the apostle's lack of movement. Why would 'his' apostles all of a sudden not want to pursue him now? What else did Uriel have planned out? Was Lucifer coming here, apart of it?
Mikael laugh cynically, "Good, I see how it is now."
Lucifer raised his eyebrow. Had Mikael lost his mind already? He pointed a finger at Mikael, "Soram atque quaerere¹."
Out of thin air, black magic circles appeared around Lucifer and seas of black crows shot out towards Mikael. Their glowing red eyes thirsting for blood. They made loud baneful caws and screeches as they wisp through the air.
Mikael scoffed and erected a barrier, "Deus meus scutum²."
The crows smashed into a gold circular barrier with interlocked pentagon shapes. The barrage of them turned to dust after the collision. The impact shook the ground, causing a seismic tremor that rippled throughout the world. Mountains started to shake and crumble, the oceanic waves undulated greatly and turned into large monstrous waves, they bigger than tsunamis, the ground split in many places across the world and collapsed in, and the oncee dormant volcanoes exploded with life.
After the impact had intermitted, within the clouds of dust two figures that held strikingly differences waltzed with each other. Their flamboyant volley of spells flickered from within the dust storm, making it look just like a fancy shadow puppet play.
At first, it may look like the two's powers were equal but as the battle continued to heighten, Lucifer proved to be stronger. He had been testing Mikael's strength, by using high level spell. He pushed it so Mikael to have to defend. Mikael wouldn't be able to evade in time because of the wide range. If he tried, he would just get caught in its devastation before he could get enough distance away.
Mikael was having a much harder time defending, as it was much more draining. For one would have to sustain the same amount of energy poured into the spell to keep stabilized. Otherwise, it would crack and crumble apart.
Over the millennia, Lucifer had been preparing for this day. He hadn't become the regent of Hell for nothing. His adeptness and might blew away anyone who wished to covet his position. That was how he earned his loyal followers as well. After becoming a fallen, he was taught a lesson to never underestimate someone. He diligently trained and honed his powers and increased his energy efficiency and capacity for the long destined war.
As for Mikael, he became arrogant and careless. He may have won over the strongest one in the past, but the tables can be turned with the help of time. He neglected his duties of strengthening himself, and drowned in his role as governor and captain of the archangel; as well as being 'God's favorite'. He would only play around with his spells.
Lucifer learned through experience and could accurately gauge his opponent by testing just their boundaries a few time. By now, he could accurately estimate Mikael's strength and could see his weaknesses. His attacks became more precise, it aimed towards Mikael's blind spots viciously. Slowly Mikael was getting pushed back, further and further. His heart was in denial. It's only because my soul isn't complete! He started to recalled back his wisps of his soul.
Half a millennia ago, Mikael had discovered that he could split off parts of his soul and insert it into living things. It wasn't 'possessing' the body as the piece of soul would 'kill' off the original vessel's soul's will and have it underneath his command completely. Most angels were only able to possess a single vessel at one time, but this allowed Mikael to have multiple vessels. The humans became the primary targets. It was like having multiple surveillance cameras, but it was more immersive as you could get the feeling of all the five senses and still tap into his angelic powers.
This was how Mikael 'monitored' the mortal realm.
This was also how he had been killing off the some seals over time. Using this method, he would entrap them and then kill them by removing the Seal of Yahweh while they were still alive. This would cause the seals to be in immense pain as he was literally ripping their soul out. In turn, he could blame death's of the seals on Lucifer and his parade of demons.
In a storm of flurry, the souls charged to its origin. All those who were under his control all fell down and died the moment it left their body. Like dominoes they fell. Of one of the seals was Ann. Her body fell lifelessly as she was hiding amongst a group of survivors. It caused many of the others around her to scream out and run.
Mikael clenched his teeth as he gathered the energy within him and swung his lance. Lucifer's lips curved derisively. He caught the lance between his fingers and landed a punch on Mikael's face. It didn't matter if Mikael was at his peak condition or not, Lucifer knew that he was much stronger. The punch had catapulted him like a plastic bag flying in a harsh wind, as Lucifer had surrounded his hand with energy giving it more power. He broke through the Great Mosque of Damascus³. Rolling onto his stomach, coughing up a handful of blood.
The moves were too similar to that of Uriel's. It lit an ugly spark in Mikael as his eyes were ignited with fury and his heart seethed with madness. He had just suffered a humiliating defeat against Uriel, and now with Lucifer, it became another one. He shook his head as he stood up. How can this be? I should've been able to easily defeat Lucifer!
The more he thought upon how he was snubbed by their petty attacks, Mikael began to fully blacken. His heart was now at the final stage of becoming a demon. He wiped the blood off of his lips, his beautiful golden eyes were darkening and the colour was being overwhelmed by that of a red and black colour. Just as he was about to take a step, runes and lines illuminated underneath him; the Sixth Pentacle of Saturn⁴.
He looked around and saw that he had been surrounded by eight of the apostles, their bodies were covered in red runes and their eyes shimmered brightly. Had he been entrapped? He looked around but couldn't see Lucifer anywhere. Was this apart of their plan? Were they working together? Or was it that they had always been?
His mind was suffering in a delusional state and he started running over how the two had concluded together to get his downfall.

Mikael looked up at the sound of wings flapping, he glowered at the cherubim that looked magnificently before him. His short midnight blue hair with those golden eyes looked down at him as he descended down upon the earth. A bright golden light illuminated around his silhouette and a small breeze flew by, fluttering his hair and clothes. It was as if this was how things were meant to be; Mikael having to look up at Uriel and this was where their eyesight levels should be at.
It could be said that Uriel's appearance only proved his irrational thoughts as he came just on time. He didn't even notice that Lucifer wasn't at the scene. He laughed maniacally, "Conspiring with those from the Tartarus to eradicate me! You have done well, my dear brother Uriel!"
Mikael had integrated some of his energy into his vocals chords when he announced it, making his voice had ring loudly to the rest of the world.
Many of the other archangels and angels were shocked that one of their own would betray them. Their morale started to waver, letting the demons sneak attacks onto the heavenly beings. Gabriel and the other archangels were ignited with anger, they had disappointed their Father by not being able to uncover the traitor and stopping their brother. It was now their duty to bring him to their Father, so that he could give out Uriel's punishment. They boosted their fighting power and sought to end this war.
Mikael's words were easily accepted as the truth by the others because of his long influence in the upper realm. Another reason was because he had worn that perfect mask for so long now, no one could even think about suspecting him of being the one who had betrayed them.
When Uriel opened his mouth, he did not refute Mikael's own imaginative words. His voice was clear and only those in the vicinity could hear them, "I shall carry the weight of your sins, Second Borne."
He raised his hand, "Crown of Gluttony.⁵"
