Sheng Huo bent down and picked up the ring. He rolled it around his hands as he went over his recently recovered memories.
He murmured affectionately, "Wei Xiao."
Yes. He was able to remember all of his past lives. The memories rushed past and he could remember every detail within each life. Every kiss, every word, every touch, every smile, every laughter, every tear that fell, every hug he could remember every moment they had shared together. He could also remember... Remember the pain that came with each departing.
Every time he kissed Wei Xiao, he would insert his soul essence inside of him subconsciously. It would fortify Wei Xiao's soul a little and create a bond between them, so he would know where Wei Xiao was. The day he lost Wei Xiao, he sat on the beach and stared off into the distance. He also met Si Wang that time as well, but that time Si Wang had just regained his consciousness. All he did was sneer at him before leaving. Sheng Huo walked into the shores by their villa, leaving foot prints in the sand as he went further. He walked deeper and deeper until his figure disappeared underneath the waves and surface of the water.
That was where Long Zixi's life diminished. Because he was not an inhabitant of the world and had only come into the world after suffering grave injuries, once he died his soul returned into his personal space. He was running on very low energy but instead of going to a random world, he followed after the his soul essence that he could faintly feel. He willingly gave up what very little energy he had to follow after Wei Xiao's soul. He did not have the energy to think or feel after sacrificing his energy and went onto 'autopilot' mode.
The next time he regained a bit of his consciousness was after Sairi died. He stayed unmoved in the same spot for days, the body behind him started to smell but he didn't care. He cried his heart out, then he saw Si Wang standing in front of him. This time he not only leered at his misfortune, he taunted Sheng Huo, "Hehe. Isn't this just... tragic?"
"Mmm... It wasn't quite enough, you know?"
Sheng Huo snapped, he set down Sairi gently onto the ground and charged at Si Wang. He extended his claws and swung a gaping arc at Si Wang, but he hit nothing but air. The other gave out a ridiculing smile and disappeared. After Sheng Huo laid Sairi to rest on the makeshift bed and returned to the city. He set his affairs straight and informed his adopted son before he returned to the cave. He laid next to the love of his life and let his life slip away. The soul essence signal was a little more noticeable because he had done the same thing in this world. He quickly chose the same option again to follow and gave up his energy. So once more, he was set onto 'auto-pilot' and his consciousness fell asleep to recuperate.
The third time he woke up, it was after the realization that the love of his life was never going to wake up. He had opened his eyes to see a beloved angel in front of him. He reached out his hand and touched their face. Expecting the other to flutter their lashes and open their eyes to peer at him, he placed his hand on the other's cheek.
His's eyes opened and he pulled his hand back. He looked at his hand in confusion, the other person was... cold.
He outstretched his arm and hand once more, just to make sure that what he had felt the first time was correct. The moment he made contact with that now stiff skin, his fingers trembled and his eyes started to water. He murmured, "Allen?"
But the other did not reply back to him. He pulled them into his embrace and shakily kissed their cheeks. There was only the sound of 'Noel's' almost inaudible sobs. He stared at the quiet and still body in his arms and cradled the smaller man.
He felt another presence within the room and looked to see Si Wang sitting leisurely on the window sill. He clicked his tongue in disgust at that time, "Pathetic. Still mourning over some useless human soul, brother?"
He stood up and peered down at the lifeless Allen and shook his head, "How utterly weak he was. Trying to fight against me, but he ultimately lost."
This is what he, Sheng Huo had awoken to. He immediately rushed to choke this f*cking prick in front of him, but he hit air. He stared at the laughing man who dissipated into the air. He carried Allen gently with arms underneath his knees and head. He walked into the room that was full of their memories and almost stumbled as he silently let the tears fall down his face.
He bid everyone farewell and followed after Allen. This time he could almost see a small string of connection and followed immediately after, he didn't care what he had to give up.
When he opened his eyes on the fourth time. He was raving mad. The annoying haunting ghost had whispered into his ears all that he made Chen Ming suffered. Si Wang had used some of his energy to help hide and free that lover of Sheng LiRong's. Si Wang mocked Chen Ming for being idiotic and he clutched his stomach as he was laughing too hard. He disappeared with a smile on his face as Sheng Huo couldn't knock him out.
Sheng Huo stared at the killer as he was going past him and pulled out a knife and plunged it into the heart of the killer. Since he had gathered a bit of energy, he was able to use his part of his powers and he decimated the whole field around him, leaving no one alive. The only thing that he saved was Chen Ming's body in which he cremated with the heavenly fire and took it with him.
After calling his friend, he went over to the jail where Sheng LiRong was in. He mutilated her body before leaving the world. Displaying her messed up genitalia on the walls of the jail as the rest of her body hung in strips at the entrance of the jail.
The fifth time he woke up was due to the sound a certain laughter along with the foreboding fear in his heart. Sheng Huo was finally able to see his son for the first time but it was not in a situation in which he would've wanted. Lin Jun Kai was sitting absentmindedly on the side of the road as he stared in a certain direction. Sheng Huo dropped whatever was in his hands and rushed towards his child. He picked him up and surveyed the area for Xie Ying. Although he had felt the soul connection between him and Xie Ying being severed, he tried hard to deny it. He looked around desperately as the child in his arms started to finally utter a sound. A heart breaking cry came from Lin Jun Kai's mouth as big droplets of tears fell down his eyes.
Sheng Huo consoled the child and a heart stopping sight caught his attention. A bloodless arm that was extremely pale was peeking out from behind the front of the truck. He staggered towards the scene and clutched Lin Jun Kai tightly in his arms as he faced him away from it.
A snicker was heard from behind him, "Quite melodramatic, my dear brother."
He whipped his head around and saw Si Wang amidst the crowd of onlookers. Si Wang's lip curled upwards, "Too bad he had to witness his... mother die."
Leaving only a challenging and taunting look behind, Si Wang was gone.
Afterward, Sheng Huo held a funeral for Xie Ying and focused all of his energy on raising Lin Jun Kai.  Sheng Huo carefully nurtured his son and tried to show him as much affection as he could. Some nights he would find himself lost for words, and he would be up at night looking at their photos. He taught Lin Jun Kai everything that he could cram into his mind without pushing his mental capabilities overboard. Subsequently, he and his son departed from the world. Maybe it was because Lin Jun Kai was an offspring of two souls that weren't inhabitants of this world that he too was able to leave the world.
Even though Lin Jun Kai was an adult when they left the world, his soul was still in the stage of infancy. He was extremely weak and vulnerable when they first came out and slept most of the time. To stabilize his soul and strengthen it, Sheng Huo gave 2/3 of his energy. Then, together they set out to find him.
This was the sixth time he had awakened. It took him a little longer because he had given all of his energy to their son.
Now that he had finally woken up and had stolen the energy from Si Wang. He wouldn't need to sleep for now, he had sufficient energy for him and his son to move onto the next world. Depending on how much energy he would receive from the future worlds, if Sheng Huo could receive adequate amount he might not need to sleep and could enter in an awakened state.
There was one thing that he needed to check on. He inspected his connection for Yan Yu, one of the main administrators under his command. He was a loyal friend that had protected him in that fatal moment. That was why he wasn't as injured as Si Wang but because Si Wang was leeching off of a host who receives more energy as they complete missions and tasks, in this situation his lover Si Wang's power was recovering faster than his was.
Sheng Huo found a very thin connection and pulled on it. A flash of digital strings manifested in thin air in front of him and from within the data codes appeared a translucent young man with dashing looks. He donned a silver robe with orange and blue designs, long bright fiery red hair, two amber peach blossom eyes, a golden flame in the middle of his forehead, and a thin pale red lips. He was a sight to see, his well toned muscles were accentuated with the silver robe he wore.
He kneeled to Sheng Huo, "I had failed you, my King."
Sheng Huo shook his head, "No. If not for you, I would've been destroyed. Do not blame yourself, Yan Yu¹."
Yan Yu stood up his face filled with anger, "That Si Wang. He had to use such underhand methods to win. He's despicable to the core."
He frowned and looked at Sheng Huo, "My King, how long have we slept for?"
Sheng Huo sighed, "Over three thousand years."
Yan Yu's eyes dimmed. Would that naive idiot still be waiting for him after all this time. Would he have gotten his first host by now? Yan Yu wondered how that 'system' was doing now. He left on that day and told him to wait for him to come back... But he never came back that day.
Sheng Huo took out Kasimir, his son and looked at his slightly cracked soul. He placed his hand on his chest and started healing it. After he was done he put away Kasimir once more, "Let's go, Yan Yu."
Yan Yu looked at Kasimir with a puzzled expression but didn't ask. He nodded his head, "Yes, my King."
