The basketball championship match is finally getting closer and the whole basketball team has been practicing nonstop, they barely go for lectures these days. It's been back to back practice and I wonder if they don't get tired.
Kelly and I had settled our differences after he explained that he was just afraid of losing me as a friend cause he thinks that if Liam and I gets closer to each other then the best and that we both have as a friend is going to disappear but I already assured him that his my best friend and will always remain my best friend nothing will change that. I even promised him that after practice this evening I'm going to take him out for dinner to go try Ajumeoni ( grandma) Korean noodles, he was so excited and cannot wait to try it out,
I already messaged Charles and he said that he's at Ajumeoni’s noodle shop helping her out. I told him that I'm coming over with my best friend and Charles is so excited to see us. I was seated by the corner as I eagerly waited for Charles and finally after what feels like forever the practice was finally over, I saw Liam walking out with his friends, he wanted to come to me but when he saw Kelly approaching me first, he smiled at me and left with his friends, I sighed inwardly, he should have just come at least.
“Hey Pookie?” Kelly kissed my forehead as he got closer to me,
“Damn you're sweaty” I made a funny disgusting face,
“Really? Then let me rub my sweat all over you” He began chasing me and I ran so hard with every strength I have
“I'm going to kill you…..!” I kept on screaming, as we run around the court, we got tired of running and I pointed at him not to come near me while I try to catch my breath,
“Have some water” He gestured at my bag and that's when I remembered I have a bottle of water I brought along in case Kelly becomes tasty, I took it out immediately and drank from it while I gave the rest to Kelly
“Do you feel better?”
“Hmmm” I nod, and watch as he drank the rest of the water,
“I need to freshen up in the changing room, you wait for me outside okay?”
“Hmm” I smiled, he pulled closer, and I wondered what he's doing standing so close to me.
“What are you doing?” I mumbled as he slowly bent to my level, his face inches away from mine as he stared into my eyes
“Kelly?”
“You look so beautiful” He winked and kissed my forehead, I breathed out in relief as soon as he pulled back.
“Wait for me okay?”
“I will”
I sat outside their changing room, while I waited for Kelly to be done. I saw Liam coming out with his friends,
“Hey pretty Taylor!” Eden waved at me his voice was so loud, Ethan smiled at me, and Liam used his fingers and gestured for me to come forward, I know it's crazy but I found myself standing up immediately and my feet fast forward to him,
“Wow, that was fast” Eden blurted
“Shut up” Ethan kicked his ass
“Ouch…., fuck are you my twin brother or my enemy?” Eden glared at Ethan,
“Both” Ethan mocked him,
“Drag him out,” Liam snarled at Eden. Ethan grabbed him twin from the back of his neck and began to drag him out
“Taylor I love you….!” Eden yelled as he's been dragged and I almost burst out laughing. When they finally left, Liam asked
“When are you coming back home?”
“Soon, I won't stay out for long”
“You're sure about that?”
“Hmmm” I nodded. He looked at me for some seconds
“Alright, call me if you need anything okay?”
“I'll be fine” I assured him, Kelly walked out that same time,
“Princess I'm ready” Kelly announced, Liam looked at him and they began staring at each other confusing the hell out of me,
“I'll be waiting at home” Liam muttered with his eyes still on Kelly, he glanced at me for the last time and left.
“Did you fight with Liam?” I turned and ask Kelly
“Fight? Of course not, have you forgotten we are now teammates, we are good these days trust me”
“Are you sure about that?”
“Hmmm, let's go princess” He grabbed my hand as we got outside, I sighted Liam's car and that of his friends from the other end, they stood there staring at us, Kelly walked me to the car door, he opened the door for me and I got in, he slammed the door close and entered through the other side of the door and also close the door.
We drove off, I looked out through the window, Liam and his friends stood there and kept on watching till our car was out of sight,
“How long are you going to stare out of the window?” I heard Kelly's voice
“Ohhh” I mouthed with a sigh, and leaned back on the car seat,
“How is the practice going?”
“Stressful but it's fun”
“Really?”
“Of course”
“You sound like you enjoy basketball?”
“I've been playing it since I was a child?”
“Really?” I asked in surprise sitting up,
“Yeah, you sound like you're interested in my story” He glanced at me and focussed his eyes back on the road,
“Of course, I am, you're my best friend, so I want to ask what inspired you to start playing basketball?”
“Me?”
“Hmmm, tell me who made you love basketball?”
“It's my dad”
“Is he a basketball player?”
“He likes basketball he's so good with it, he had the passion for it, he would have become big if he had pursued it, but my mum never allowed him to do what he wanted, and eventually he died of depression”
“What! Your dad is dead?”
“You looked shocked” He smiled,
“I'm sorry I promise I didn't know all these while”
“Nhhh it's nothing”
“Does your mum approve of you playing basketball?”
“She's got so many other kids, she doesn't have to worry about me?”
“Really, You have siblings, How come I've never heard of them before?” I asked in surprise
“Step-siblings that's what they are”
“Ohhh”
“My father died when I was ten”
“Can I give you a hug?” I asked feeling so emotional, but instead Kelly smiled
“You're so cute, can I ask for something else instead?” He asked with a sneaky smile
“Hmmm, whatever it is I'll give it to you”
“You promised” He gave me a warning eyes,
I smile and cross my heart
“I promise”
