                    Ashley's POV
I thought it was going to be a nice day being out in the sun, but I guess not, seeing as my wallet decided to suddenly disappear to thin air.
As Arthur and I continued searching the surrounding, my phone blared my ringtone indicating an incoming call. Without looking at the caller ID assuming it was just Connor, I immediately picked it up.
"Hello?" I answered not taking my gaze away from the ground still in search of the damn wallet.
"Hey Besty." Rose replied on the phone and I instantly straightened up.
And what a great timing. I thought to myself.
"Besty? you called?"
She chuckled.
"Yeah. Is it a bad timing to call though? I feel like you're kinda busy." She said.
I nodded my head even when clearly, she can't see me.
"I'm in the middle of looking for my missing wallet." I stated as I turned to Arthur who was still busy looking around and asking people.
"Oh. Are you in your house right now?" She asked,
"No."
"Okay? So where are you?" She asked again.
"A new friend of mine took me to an attraction here and then yeah, my wallet suddenly went missing." I told her as I tried to search my pockets once again.
"Oh. Do you remember where you last put it?" She asked in hopes of giving a little help making me remember.
I nodded again.
"I'm very positive I have it in my pocket."
"Do you have a bag with you?" She said and I shook my head 'no'.
"Unfortunately no." I stated with a sigh. "This wouldn't have happened if I have a bag with me or something."
I heard her sigh on the other line.
"That is unfortunate. But is Connor there with you?"
I shook my head.
"No. He went to the parking lot just in case I dropped it there."
"Okay so who are you with at the moment?" She asked sounding slightly worried.
"I'm with Arthur, the new friend I just told you."
She hummed.
Talking about Arthur, I looked around and he wasn't there anymore.
Crap.
"Uh..."
"What? What's wrong?" Besty asked over the phone.
"I can't see him anywhere." I spoke as my eyes roamed around in hopes to find Arthur. "I have to go Besty. I have to find Arthur if I don't want to end up getting lost in here."
"Okay but be careful please. And tell me if you found your wallet."
I nodded unknowingly.
"I will. Okay I have to go."
"Okay be safe."
"You too. Talk to you later Besty."
"Bye."
And with that I hang up.
I placed my phone back into my pocket securely and then started walking in search of Arthur instead of my wallet. There's a good amount of people out today, but it's no surprise since it's a weekend anyway. I walked further as I looked around hoping to find that bulky guy.
"Ash!" Someone called from my left and I instantly looked towards the source.
There, Arthur waved me over. I jogged up towards him.
"Found anything yet?" I asked once I reached him.
He shook his head. "Sadly no. I've been asking around if they spotted your wallet, but all of them just said they didn't."
I sighed. "Let's just keep looking."
He smiled. "Okay."
After that, we proceeded on the search. We went towards the tall ancient wall in hopes of seeing it there, but unfortunately to no avail. I was busy searching the ground while trying to get a sight of my missing wallet when suddenly, Arthur stopped me on my tracks and turned me around so I was facing him. Well, more like looking up at him since I lack on the height department. I was confused as to why he did it cause obviously, I was too busy searching for my god damn wallet. So I asked him what was it that he wanted, but when I looked into his eyes, they weren't the chocolate brown that I know was his eye color. Instead, I was greeted with a bright golden eyes that was staring down at me intensely.
Instantly, my eyes widen at the sight and snatched back my arm that was being held captive by Arthur. But I wasn't scared which was really odd. I was surprised but I was not scared even one bit.
"Y-Your eyes. They're.......different." I stated without looking away from Arthur's hypnotizing stare. It's not literally hypnotizing, but the way his eyes shines and glows had me staring at them in awe and amazement.
Oddly, I didn't feel any fear from the bizarre sight. Instead, I felt immensely safe under his intense gaze, which is very weird to be honest. I mean, wouldn't it be weird and unnatural for a normal human being to change eye color that quickly? Well it's not that I know any people who can change their eye color like they were just changing clothes. But seeing as there was a human being with the ability to do such thing had my curiousity spiked up to the rooftop. And from what I've known, such ability is not possible. But what I saw was not a magic trick. I know what I saw, and I want to know how he did it.
So how can he do that?
"What different." He stated out huskily making his minty breath fan my face.
"They're......they're gold." I told him while leaning in closer to his face to inspect his eyes even more.
But I guess he misunderstood it for something else.
Right after my face was only less than a few centimeters away from him, he hastily snaked his arms around my waist and pulled me towards him. Then, he slammed his lips hungrily on mine's which instantly caught me off guard.
I gasped which, again, is a very wrong move at the moment. When my mouth came open wide enough, his tongue didn't waste a second and quickly started evading my mouth. He kept kissing me in a way that had my knees weak and my whole body left partially vulnerable. He kept dominating the kiss in a way that had me submitting willingly even though my brain was telling me to stop him. I just let him do what he wanted to do and let him take control.
But frankly, I was also very aware that what he was doing to me and what was currently happening was beyond wrong. Despite from my body submitting to him willingly, I have to pull away and stop what Arthur had started. But for some reason, my body didn't want to listen to my brain and just stood there and let Arthur kiss me like he was the one that I was engaged with, and not Connor. It was very odd; weird even. But I welcomed it like there was nothing wrong.
I was so confused that I didn't know what I was suppose to do. I just stood there and gave Arthur all the control he craved and wanted.
But that ended when someone forcefully snatched Arthur away from me, ending the kiss. And the next thing that I heard was a growl and crack. I was in such a daze that I didn't even acknowledge the two huge and well muscled men fighting to death right in front of me. I was just standing there still looking so stunned with my breathing coming in erratically.
I was only snapped back to reality when I heard a thud and a pained groan. I blinked clearing my fogged up thoughts and focused my attention on the males trying to kill each other.
"Oh my god." I screamed. "Please stop." I yelled loudly to try and get them to stop but it went flying to deaf ears when all they did was continue sending punches to each other.
I was starting to get scared that one of them might do serious damage, that for a second, I just stood there watching. I don't know what I was suppose to do when my mind was being flooded with horrifying thoughts of one of them being seriously hurt, or worse, they won't be able to control themselves that they'll go as far as taking someone's life. And I don't want that to happen.
I know I have a fault in this madness, and I know Connor only did what he did to protect me.
"Please guys stop. Please." I shouted once again in hopes of them listening to me. And thankfully, Connor turned his attention to me but that only gave him a disadvantage. Arthur immediately took the distraction for him to get a hold of Connor's neck and pull him down to the ground.
I saw the way Arthur's hold on Connor's neck. I know if he doesn't let go, Connor might die. And I also know that Arthur is loosing control of his temper when I saw blood dripping down Connor's neck. I know he's capable of taking Connor's life but I won't let that happen. But how can I stop someone whose stronger than me?
"Arthur don't." I shouted in fear of him doing what I was afraid he'll do.
"Just stop, please. Arthur, we both have fault in this, and Connor has the right to be mad. So please, I beg you. Just stop."I told him in which he listened to as his expression slowly softened when he saw tears forming in my eyes.
Then Arthur turned his attention back to Connor who was still being held on the neck, but not as forceful as what Arthur did earlier. He leaned closer to Connor's face with rage back in his expression.
"No one can stop me from getting my mate. Not even you mutt." He spat through greeted teeth in which Connor responded with a deadly and animalistic growl.
After Arthur said those words to Connor, he still didn't let go of Connor's neck that was continuously bleeding from the open wounds his nails had created. He just remained staring daggers to Connor without uttering a word. Also, I can't help but be curious to what he said to Connor meant.
"Likewise, f*cker." Connor spat harshly.
As I think harder about it, what he told Connor had me confused to no end. For me, it doesn't make any sense at all. What does he mean by what he said? No one can stop him from getting his mate? What does that even mean? What does he mean by mate? Am I the mate he's referring to? And why the hell did he call Connor mutt? What the freaking hell is happening?
All these unanswered questions have been swimming in my mind making me even more confused as I already am. I don't know what to think anymore. I don't understand every bit of what Arthur said..
I'm just completely lost.
As I stood there looking so confused, Arthur finally freed Connor's neck which was now harboring obvious nail marks with blood still dripping freely from the open wounds. I snapped out of my confused daze as Connor walked towards me and engulfed me into a hug. He buried his face into my neck making his blood to drip on me, but I was feeling too numb in the brain to even care. I just hugged Connor back while taking a glance at Arthur who was looking away with a tight fist and an unreadable expression on his face.
"I'm not letting him take you away from me." Connor whispered lowly on my neck making me furrow my eyebrows at him seemingly more confused as ever. "I will never." He added as his voice cracked after what he said.
What is happening? My mind thought.
Everything was normal a few minutes ago, but then things turned for the worse in a blink of an eye. I don't know what I did for all this to happen, but maybe it's the fact that I didn't pull away when Arthur kissed me seem like an acceptable reason. I know it was a huge mistake to let Arthur kiss me, and what's worse was, I kissed him back. But there was just something from that kiss that I can't seem to pull away or for it to stop. I don't know if it was just the hormones making it's welcome or if it was Arthur having some sort of pull that leads me towards him. I don't know if any of these things are true but what I'm sure is, I made a big mistake infront of my soon to be husband, Connor.
After Connor pulled away, he leaned down on my face and slowly gave me a sweet kiss on the lips. But for some reason, I find the kiss oddly emotionless for me. I feel like it wasn't a sweet kiss at all, but instead was an empty and void connection on the lips. There was no sparks like when Arthur kisses me. There was no butterflies fluttering in my stomach when he kissed me, not like when Arthur did. There was nothing, not like when Arthur kissed me I felt every emotion he felt being poured into the simple touch of our lips. All these thoughts are very odd, but sadly, they are true.
"Please tell me you love me. Please I want to hear it." Connor pleaded with watery eyes.
Oddly, I was hesitating wether I should tell him the three words I've been telling him since we've been together. I don't know what is up with me but I just feel like I can't spill those three words to him, which scares me. I do love him, but there is a 'but'. There is hesitation and I don't know what caused it.
"I love you." I whispered looking straight into Connor's sad eyes. I don't t know if I mean it or if I just said it cause of pity.
Wait, why am I even saying these things?
I love Connor and he's the only guy for me. We're getting married soon and we'll build our own family. One simple kiss from a person I barely knew won't change or ruin everything Connor and I had built. I was just confused that's all. I wasn't questioning my feelings towards Connor because Arthur kissed me. I won't compare him to Arthur just because I felt some things that Arthur can give which Connor can't. I love Connor, I know I do.
"Thank you." He breathed out while resting his forehead with mine. "You're everything to me, Ash. If I lose you, I don't know what I'll do." He added while staring intently into my eyes.
"You're not going to lose me Connor. I'm not going anywhere." I said with a tight smile.
"I'll fight for you, Ash. I'll fight for you and I'll fight for us." He stated with determined voice and expression on his face. I nodded my response and once again, Connor pulled me into a hug with him giving my neck a loving kiss.
After he pulled away from the hug, he turned his attention to Arthur who was still standing a few meters away from us while also still having a tight fist and an unreadable expression on his face, making him look scary to me.
Connor used his body to cover me and block Arthur's view. And because Connor was a big guy with muscles, my view was also blocked completely from seeing Arthur, which I'm not complaining knowing it's for the best.
"Ash had enough exploring around for one day. So I suggest you take us home now. Ash also is starting to get tired." Connor told Arthur calmy with a collected expression on his face.
"You don't get to say anything for Ash, he can decide for himself wether he wanted to continue exploring around or not. He's not a f*cking robot for you to control around the way you wanted." Arthur retorted back which I'm pretty sure was also harboring a frown on his face right now.
After Arthur finished what he said, Connor visibly tensed back again. "Okay, you want to hear it? Fine. I don't want him being around you because you're a sick bastard. And who said I was controlling him? I was just simply looking after his well being. Besides, I'm his boyfriend. It's completely normal to look after their other half, right?" Connor stated in which I heard a deep growl that I was sure where came from, a mad Arthur.
"You're right. But isn't a relationship bound to end when secrets are involved?" Arthur retorted back again making me tense this time.
What the heck does he mean by that? Does he know my secret? No, that's highly impossible. He doesn't even know me that much, what more for him to know my deep secret, right? He doesn't know anything.
When Connor didn't give his reply, Arthur let out a menacing chuckle which had me shivering from the intensity of it.
"Oh right. You are well aware about that simple fact. Yet, you still decided to keep one. What a faithful boyfriend you are." Arthur provoked making Connor's hold on my wrist to tighten.
"If you really love your assumed mate then you wouldn't keep anything from him. Don't you think that's being dishonest? I thought destined mates weren't suppose to do that?" Arthur added as he advanced forward towards us which caused Connor to be as tense as a log. I know he's going to snap again any minute if Arthur didn't stop provoking him.
"You know, you can't just assume that he's your mate just because you felt a strong connection towards him. You might have mistaken it as something else instead of a pull from your mate, because you're too blinded by the fact that you're destined not to have one. Am I right?" He continued as he stood there with his arms crossed on his chest.
When Connor didn't give him a reply, he continued.
"I know who you are Connor. So if you decided to spit out some lies in front of my face then I suggest you save it for your dear life because lying from an Alpha won't do you any good. Plus, you're in my territory." Arthur finished as Connor remained standing there with a hard expression visible on his face. While as for me, I was also standing there behind Connor still confused as ever, or even more confused if it's even possible.
I mean, who wouldn't be as lost as I am right now when you don't even understand everything that was currently happening? Who wouldn't be bewildered when someone talks about things you don't seem to understand? And what the hell is Arthur talking about?
Ugh, my mind is going to blow, I just know it. With all this information my mind is taking in, I know I'll be harboring a massive headache very soon.
I am just so lost at the moment that it makes me hungry.
Yes, Hungry. And yes, I developed stress eating. Which is kind of good in my own point of view since I'm way too skinny. But I'm not saying being stressed is a good thing, or even stress eating for that matter. It's just my own opinion and I think I need more food in my body in order for me to gain weight.
Anyways, I really am stressed and hungry since I'm starting to ramble nonsense things in the speed faster than light. Over exaggerated but you get my point.
As Connor remained standing there still as tense as a log, I tried prying his hand from my wrist because I feel like if he didn't let go any second then I will surely lose one hand from his tight grip. But as usual, he didn't even budge.
"You don't know anything about me." Connor spat angrily which made me stop doing the task I'm currently busy with, and that is to pry his hand away from my wrist that was starting to get numb.
Arthur then let out a humorless chuckle. "Oh believe me, I do."
After he said that, Connor made a move to attack Arthur in which I am hundred percent sure will start another life threatening fight. So I decided to step in by stopping Connor from advancing towards Arthur. But stopping Connor was already a hard task for me, considering my poor skinny body.
"No Connor, don't. Just leave it and lets just go home." I told him as I wrapped my free arm on his arm effectively stopping from what ever he was planning.
He turned his attention to me. "You won't hate me after this, right?" He suddenly asked as he stared deeply into my baby brown eyes.
Okay what? I thought it would be the other way around since I let Arthur kiss me. Plus, I made a mistake also by kissing him back.
So what is he talking about?
I stared back at him with a frown. "What are you talking about?" I stated as I voiced my thoughts out.
Instead of giving me a reply, he just gave me a small smile and turned his attention back to Arthur who was watching us still with a hard expression on his face.
When Connor didn't say anything to Arthur, I decided it would be best if I step in.
"Let's just go home please. I'm tired." I told the both of them and Arthur averted his gaze towards me with a calmer expression on his face this time.
"If that's what you want." He replied with a soft smile gazing his features.
"T-Thank you." I responded back as I pulled Connor towards where the parking lot is.
As we made our way to the parking lot, Connor wrapped his arms on my waist and gave me a kiss on my temple. "I love you so, so much." He said making me look up at him with soft eyes.
"We're okay, right Domo?" I just had to ask knowing what happened between me and Arthur earlier.
"Of course we are. What makes you think that we're not?" He said while peering down at me with sad eyes.
"I didn't pull away immediately when Arthur kissed me. And uhm, I-I kissed him b-back." I told him nearly a whisper as I looked down guiltily to the ground.
Connor's hold on my waist instantly tightens at the mention of earlier's event. "I know it was nothing. Nothing but a simple kiss, right? So let's just forget everything that happened, okay?" He said as he kissed my head and I nodded my response.
"Okay." I told him as we held hands while walking down the path towards the car.
I just hope I can convince myself that the kiss Arthur and I have shared was simply nothing.
Arthur's POV
I know what I did earlier was beyond reckless. But can they blame me though? Keeping a tight restraints on my wolf was already a hard task, what more with my own feelings. I was already on edge from the drive up here, but I didn't show them any signs that I was. I know that if I let my composure slip even just for one second, it would only fire up Connor's desire to provoke me even further than what he's already doing. It was hard keeping a fake façade, especially with my mate being there. And it slowly came crumbling down when all Connor did was be touchy and sweet with my mate, which I was suppose to be the one doing instead of the bastard that has a name of Connor.
But again, I tried to keep my cool even though deep inside, there was a whirlwind of unexplainable feelings. Even my wolf had to fight the urge to lash out and lounge towards Connor and rip his head off of his body. But of course, I didn't let Zion do what he wished knowing Ash didn't have any Idea that werewolves do exist yet.
As far as I want to tell him who and what I am, I can't, because I know it's not the right time for it.
I just have to be patient. I know it will be hard, but knowing it's for the best, I'll willingly wait. Especially if it's also for my mates well being.
Though honestly, It's hard to be patient and contain your emotions when all you wanted to do was go to your mate and claim him. It's hard to hide the fact that it hurts watching him hold someone else's hand while walking freely in public. And what hurts most was the reality that Connor is Ash's fiancé and soon they'll get married. And I know if I didn't do anything about it anytime soon, I'm afraid that everything will be too late for me to claim Ash as mine.
I know I have to step up my game plan if I wanted my mate to be by my side. And I have to do it fast. No one knows what's going on inside Connor's mind. And if he decides to do something drastic just to keep me away from my mate, I don't know what I'll do.
I didn't just slip out of your hold for nothing, you know. I did that for an obvious reason. Zion spoke suddenly.
I frowned.
What do you mean you did it for a reason. I asked.
I'm thinking to let Connor tell Ash who he really is. In that way, we can make a move on him and tell him he's our mate. And that, Connor is claiming him as his even though clearly, he wasn't. Let his secret unfold by stirring up the confusion inside our mate's mind so he'll be the one to ask Connor to tell him the truth. Zion explained and I have to admit, it sounds brilliant.
I nodded to myself.
Yeah, that does sound like a good idea. I agreed.
Plus, we already gave an obvious hint. So it won't be long until Ash starts asking questions. He stated and once again, I understood what he's trying to mean.
But don't you think we're trying to break their relationship by doing this? I asked.
It's his secret that he decided to keep from Ash that will destroy their relationship, Arthur. Not us. He said convincingly.
But we're the ones who started it all.
It has to be done. One way or another, this secret has to be revealed. He explained.
And then after that, what are we going to do?
We step in. Tell our mate who we really are and introduce him to everyone in the pack. Zion said.
I sighed.
Alright. Let's just hope fate is on our side and bring us our mate where he belongs to be. I breathe out.
Now, we're here at the parking lot heading towards my car. Ash and Connor were walking ahead of me with their tangled hands which was all I see. Saying I was hurt was such an understatement. Seeing him holding Ash's hand kills me multiple times in a second. I just wish very soon, I'll be the one to hold those tiny hands in mine.
Hopefully, very soon.
"We have to stop by at the front desk just in case they have your wallet." Connor spoke as he peered down at my mate.
Ash nodded his head as he let Connor lead him towards the front desk.
Once the three of us made it there, Connor stepped in and asked the lady who was busy typing away on her computer.
Connor cleared his throat, gaining the woman's attention.
"I just want to ask if someone reported a lost wallet here?" He asked.
The lady he was speaking to immediately frowned.
"Hold on." She said as she opened a drawer under her desk. "Is this it?" She said as she held a brown wallet in her hand.
Ash nodded his head. "Yes, that is mine."
The lady also nodded before she spoke back up.
"Is it okay if I inspect what is inside? Just to see if there is anything that can serve as proof?" She said and my mate once again nodded his head in approval.
"Go ahead." He stated and the lady opened his wallet.
She inspect it for a few seconds when Ash spoke.
"There's exactly $150 dollars in there and an ID as well as my green card." He said and the lady looked up at him.
She nodded. "That is exactly what is in here." She said. "Is it okay to take a look at your ID?" She asked.
"Sure." Ash responded politely.
The woman took his ID and inspected it for a few seconds before placing it back where she took it.
"Alright, this is legit yours." She said with a smile as she handed the wallet to Ash.
Ash smiled back happily. "Thank you."
The lady nodded her head. "You're lucky a good person found your wallet and isn't someone who's going to take it and leave like nothing happened." She stated.
"Yeah." Ash paused. "But do you know who's the person that retrieved it here though?" He asked curiously.
"He did tell me his name."
Ash perked up at that.
"Oh."
"Yeah his name was Joseph." She said and Ash titled his head a little.
"Huh." He paused as he looked at up Connor. "Did he happen to tell his last name?" He asked as he looked back towards the lady.
She shook her head. "Unfortunately, no. All he gave me was his name and that was it. But just to give you an idea how he looks like, he's height was somewhere between 5'8 or 5'10. He's a bit tanned and he has this baby shaped face. I'm assuming he's now in his 20s with the way he looks but maybe I'm wrong. Also, his eye color was grey-ish. Has a nice button nose and full lips." She described.
"Oh." Was all what Ash able to say.
"Yeah I admit he's good looking. But sadly, by the way that girl stood next to him, I'm assuming he's no longer single. Which is a huge bummer." She said a little disappointed.
"Oh. That's nice to know then. But uh, we should get going. Thank you though." Ash said politely.
The lady smiled at him. "No problem. And next time, make sure you have your wallet secured to prevent this kind of situation from happening." She advised and Ash chuckled lightly.
"Yeah I'll try. I'm a bit of a klutz sometimes so it's still highly going to happen in the future. Though I hope not." He said and the lady laughed.
"Just be more extra careful then." She said and Ash nodded his head as we started making our way out towards the parking lot.
Connor turned to Ash as he looked down at him with confused expression on his face.
"Do you think it was him?" He asked.
Ash shook his head. "I highly doubt it was him. Besides, how will he be here when he's in the Philippines?" He spoke as we neared my car.
Connor pursed his lips. "That's true."
"I have to ask Besty though, just to make sure." Ash said.
I fetched the keys from my pocket and unlocked the car.
"I'm sorry, who are you talking about?" I asked, trying to include myself in the conversation.
Connor turned to me with a glare. "None of your business."
Ash smacked him in the arm. "Enough with the attitude, will you." He scolded and Connor huffed in annoyance.
My mate then turned to me with a small smile.
"We were talking about my friend back in the Philippines. When the lady mentioned his name and how he looks, it matches everything from the way my friend exactly looks." He said and an eyebrow of mine rose.
"Do you think it was him?" I asked and he shrugged.
"I doubt it was him. The last time I checked on him, he was in the Philippines. And that was yesterday when I messaged him through facebook." He stated.
I hummed. "Probably just a person who happens to have the same name and facial, as well as body structure as him then." I concluded.
"Yeah probably."
And with that, he smiled at me which had my stomach invaded with millions of butterflies.
"Okay let's go." Connor said and I instantly threw a glare his way.
Ash sighed. "You're not going to stop with that attitude of yours, are you?" He asked, feeling drained.
"Just get in the car babe. Please." Connor said and Ash walked towards the back seat.
I will have this guy pay for being suck a d*ck. I'll make sure of that.
With determination in mind, I silently hopped in the driver's seat with Connor hopping in the passenger's side and Ash at the back.
After starting the car, I drove out the parking lot and into the road heading the highway.
The drive back to Ash's house was done in complete and utter silence. The only part when Ash actually spoke was when he asked something about the lava flow from an ancient volcano that erupted years and years ago. And after that, the three of us were once again enveloped with deafening silence. The only thing that was making a slight noise in the background was the radio playing. On the way home, Connor and I didn't even acknowledge each other. The tension still lingering in the air around us was so strong not even Ash decided to make a move on making small talks. Most of the duration of the drive, he was quiet as he looked out of the window, seemingly lost in his own thoughts.
Finally after what feels like an eternity, we arrived at Ash's neighborhood. Right after I parked infront of Ash's house, Connor hastily stepped out and opened Ash's door who also didn't waste a second to get out of my car.
"Ash." I called making him stop in his tracks.
"Can I talk to you for a few minutes?" I asked as nicely as I can muster knowing Connor can hear me.
It was silent for a short while so I assumed Connor and him are deciding about it.
I still don't like the thought of Connor over controlling Ash. It spike the rage within me that Connor has to decide what Ash has to do. He doesn't have a say into anything because Ash have the right to decide for himself.
"He's not going to talk to you." Connor replied for Ash which made me more angrier than before and caused a growl to rumble in my chest.
"I thought we are over this stupid fight, Connor? Clearly five minutes won't hurt." Ash reasoned.
Connor had gone quiet again so I assume Ash had made him to shut up.
Serves him right.
"5 minutes and no more." Connor said with anger lacing his voice.
"Thank you." Ash said.
With that, Connor walked toward's the porch and stood there. As I stepped out of my car, I took a glance at Connor and saw him watching us with a hard stare.
"5 minutes Arthur, make use of it." Ash said making me turn my attention to him.
I smiled at him gently making him fidget on his feet. "I just wanted to say sorry for what I did earlier. I know what I did was stupid, but, but I just had to kiss you." I admitted clearly catching him off guard.
He blinked.
"W-Why did you kiss me then?" He stuttered out with adorable pink cheeks.
I chuckled.
"I think you know why." I told him with a small smile.
He looked at me with furrowed brows. "Mate? I-Is that it?" He asked unsure.
"What do you think?" I asked smiling.
"Well you've been talking about mate ever since I met you, so yeah, I'm guessing it is." He admitted with his cheeks growing a brighter shade of red.
I chuckled. "Yeah. Mate." I breathed out and took pleasure when I saw him shiver from just my voice.
What more when we get on it? I just can imagine.
"Okay? So what do you mean by mate exactly. Are you Australian, British or something?" He said making me chuckle at his use of humor.
He still knows how to insert one in this kinds of situation, huh? Now I love him more.
Yeah, you heard me right. Love.
I love him already.
"I will explain what I mean when I said mate very soon. And no, I'm not Australian nor British. I am hundred percent American." I told him still having the same smile on my face.
"Uhm okay. But why explain it soon when you can explain it no..." Ash said but was cut off when the nuisance with the name of Connor yelled from the front porch.
"Five minutes is over. Get in here Ash, you're dad is waiting for you inside." Connor called making me snap my attention towards him and glared daggers that even Satan himself can't dodge.
"Uhm, I guess I-I'll see you around then." He said as he turned his attention back to me.
He started making his way towards his house.
I smiled as I watched his retreating form walk away from me. "Yeah. I'll see you around. Mate." I said while whispering the last part.
I sighed after Ash and Connor went inside, leaving me standing there with a heart still broken to tiny million shards waiting for my mate to help me piece them back all together.
This is just another day without my other half by my side. But I'm sure I can still survive another day, right?
I just have to be extra patient. I know the Moon Goddess has something good in store for me and Ash. I know in the right time, place, and day, that I'll finally have my mate here in my arms.
And I'll make sure to never let him go, ever.
Sighing once again, I took a glance at the house and stepped back inside my car. After starting the ignition, I drove out of their driveway and into the neighborhood. As I was driving back to the pack house, a thought came to my mind. Earlier, when I said I know everything about Connor, his reaction said that I did hit a nerve. I wasn't sure if he was indeed a wanderer but by the looks of it, it kinda tells me that he is.
It was all just an assumption that he was a wanderer. And clearly, I don't have any proof to solidify my claims.
All I know is that, wanderers are destined to search for the person they will swore to protect with their life. And once they bonded with that said person, they will have strong connection towards each other. So if Connor is indeed a wanderer, I'm not really surprised if he mistaken it as a mate bond.
Also, I found out he's a Beta after I caught a whiff of his scent today which was odd. The first time I saw him I didn't pick up anything unusual from him, so why now?
Probably, my guess is that he forgot to put on the scent concealer perfume made from special kind of flower.
"Brandon, I want you to search deeper about Connor Jamieson. I want to know what I claim him to be is true. And I want you to dig deep about this information. I want to know everything." I ordered sternly through the mind link.
"Yes Alpha. I will also ask some of our best pack investigators to help me uncover Connor's background." He replied.
"And one thing. Connor Jamieson is a Beta." I added.
"Woah what? How did you know?" He responded disbelief lacing his deep voice.
"I caught his scent today. Maybe he forgot to put on what ever scent concealer he have that's why his scent was left vulnerable. Or who knows, maybe he's just feeling dumb today."
"Okay I didn't see this one coming but I will make sure to give you informations when I'm ready, Alpha." He said as I continued driving.
"Thank you Brandon. Now that we have one important information about Connor, I hope it'll be easier for you guys to gather some more." I told him.
"Yeah. We will do our best to gather the information you needed."
"Good. Anyway, I'm almost at the pack house. If you guys found anything, I'll be in my office doing some f*cking paperwork."
"Sure thing Alpha." He responded chuckling and after that, I closed the mind link.
Right when I parked my car, the front door of the pack house flew open with a little girl running towards my car. I hopped out and opened my arms for baby Jasmine to crash into.
"Thor. You here." She squealed as she ran towards me with her bright purple teddy bear dangling in her hand.
I instantly smiled at the sight and engulfed her into a hug. "Hey baby Jasmine. How are you doing today?"
"Me okay Thor." She said with a giggle. "Oh. Mommy said you go on date?" She asked innocently with a tilt of her head.
"Date?" I asked with furrowed brows.
"Yup. Mommy said." She replied nodding her head making her pigtail swing.
I chuckled as I stood up with Jasmine's hand in my large ones.
"Where's your mommy?" I asked as I looked down at her.
"Right here." Jenny said and I turned my gaze at her with a questioning look.
"Seriously? You told your daughter that I went on a date." I said as I looked at her with raised brows.
"No god, no. I didn't tell her of course. But with how clever your little niece can get, she probably heard it from me when I was talking to Nate." She explained and I looked back down at my little clever bundle with a knowing look who only responded with an adorable giggle.
"And what did you tell Nate exactly?" I pushed, turning my gaze back up at Jenny.
"Well, I asked him if what the pack said that you went out on a date was true." She responded with a shrug.
"So basically, you heard it from rumors?" I question with a small chuckle and a shake of my head.
"Yeah." She replied looking shy.
"Arthur Jones Trevino." A loud voice boomed inside the pack house. And without a doubt, it came from none other than. My Mom.
Oh goddess, not my parents.
"You'll be gutted out alive if you don't speak up this instant Arthur." She threatened after she stepped out of the door and into the front porch.
"Why do I have to explain myself?" I asked clearly not getting the point on why I have to explain myself.
Mom narrowed her eyes at me.
"Why didn't you tell us you went out on a date?" Mom said with her hands on her hips looking like she's ready to murder someone.
Jesus Christ. I'm not even religious but I need your powers to calm this woman down at this moment.
"Mom calm down, will you?" I told mom as she continued to stare at me with deadly eyes.
"No. Don't tell me to calm down mister. You're in deep trouble for not telling me you went on a date." Mom said with a glare so intense the sun's rays would be nothing compared to her's.
"Elizabeth, calm down." Dad interfered in hopes of trying to calm her raging wife down.
"No. Shut up old man." Mom said effectively shutting Dad up.
"Mom just calm down. You're scaring your grand daughter." I reasoned out motioning down on little Jasmine who was standing close to me.
And just like that, Mom immediately snapped out of her supposedly tantrum frenzy.
"Oh my." She breathed out, placing a hand on her chest. "I'm really sorry about that outburst." She said as she apologized at her grand daughter.
Women really do have unpredictable moods. Damn.
I don't even know how Dad handles Mom when she's on beast mode.
He truly deserve an award for that.
"But anywho, Arthur would you mind going inside and talk about this calmly?"
And now she's talking about being calm. Just unbelievable.
"Uh okay?" Is my only reply as my Mom stared me down creepily.
She may be calm on the outside but her eyes tells something else. Murder.
"Great. Now Dominic, can you please go prepare us some tea because your son here have a lot of explaining to do." She said as Dad walked back inside and into the kitchen to make us some tea like what mom have requested.
"Explaining? Mom, I told you I didn't go out on a date. Simple as that." I defended but Mom raised a finger up, effectively shutting me up in the process.
Damn, this woman can be very scary.
"Save your explanations hun. Let's go to the living room first. I wanna get comfy." She stated as she walked inside the pack house and into the private living room my family can use.
After mom sat down on the leather couch, she turned to me and motioned for me to sit on the couch across from her.
"So. You were saying?" Mom asked.
"I didn't went out on a date. Period." I told her shrugging.
"Really? Then why did a pack member told me that he saw you at the Pueblo ruins with a guy today?" She pushed catching me off guard.
Oh sh*t. Oh sh*t. Oh sh*t.
"What are you talking about?" I questioned playing dumb.
Goddess, let's just hope I won't get my ass spanked for this.
She sighed. "Dominic, is this what you guys called the denial part?" She asked after Dad walked in and gave Mom her tea. He then sat next to her on the couch with a mug of coffee in hand.
"I don't know." Dad said leaving me under my mother's constant wave of questions.
Mom rolled her eyes. "Of course. Where would Arthur get his traits from? None other than you, obviously." She told Dad while flailing her hands.
She huffed.
"Arthur, you don't have to deny anything because I have proof." Mom stated after turning her gaze towards me.
Holy f*cking sh*t. Now what?
She fetched her phone from her pocket and browse something on it. When she finally had it, she turned the phone to me, showing a picture where Ash and I was standing close to each other. It was the time when I kissed him. Thankfully they weren't able to capture that.
She turned the phone to her and swiped right.
"Oh and this ones a lot better." She said turning the phone towards me.
After seeing the picture, I know I just spoke to soon.
There in the picture, was Ash and I with our lips locked together in a heated kiss.
"If this picture doesn't prove anything, then I don't know what is." She told me.
I opened my mouth to speak. "Well... I.... Uh.... He....."
"This can't be just a complete stranger you're kissing, so I, as well as everyone, assumed this is your mate." She stated as she stared at the picture.
Oh goddess. Mom you cannot stare at it.
"Unless...." Mom trailed off before she gasped with her eyes wide. "Oh my precious child, you are not whoring around, are you?" She asked incredulously.
"Wha..... Mom!" I exclaimed.
The f*ck is she on about?
"Oh my god, you are." She said dramatically. "How can you do that when clearly you have a mate out there? What were you thinking? You were suppose to....." I cut her endless ranting off, knowing it will only get worse if I didn't.
"Mom calm down. I'm not whoring around like what you think."
"Oh my god Dominic, your son has become a man whore." Mom cried still being dramatic.
"Mom! Just listen, will you?" I yelled a little louder just to snap her out of it.
When I was sure I have her attention, I spoke normally again.
"I am not whoring around and I am definitely not a man whore." I declared just to get that out of her head.
She sighed deeply. "Thank the goddess." She breathed out.
She looked down to her phone again before speaking. "But if you're not whoring around, then clearly, this is your mate." She said.
I was about to respond but my voice decided not to cooperate.
I just opened and closed my mouth like fish out of the water.
I looked hella stupid.
"Arthur." Mom called with her serious voice. "Be honest and don't even try lying to me and your father." She threatened again. "Are you hiding your mate from us?" She asked with dead seriousness showing from her eyes.
F*ck. What do I tell them?
If I tell them that what was in the picture was me kissing my mate, they'll surely get the idea that I am gay. This will effectively out me to my parents and everyone. And what if they don't accept me? What if they'll see me differently if I admitted the truth?
Holy F*ck, they know.
"Hun?" Mom spoke as she placed a hand on my lap. Snapping me out of my supposedly panic attack.
She smiled softly after my eyes met her's. "If you think that just because your mate was a guy doesn't make us disappointed. Don't you ever think that. We would be happy and over the moon no matter the gender of the person the Moon Goddess destined for you." She said as she gave my lap a squeeze, reassuring me that she meant what she said. "And It doesn't matter to us if you're gay, bisexual, pansexual, or even alien, because you're still our son. We as a parent, wants you to be happy. That's all we want. As well as your pack and whole family, they just want you to finally be happy. So if you think we're disappointed, you are more than wrong." Mom explained, causing for me to be even more speechless than I already am.
What the hell.
"Son." Dad spoke, making me turn my gaze towards him. "Even if you're gay doesn't make you a weak Alpha, or someone less deserving to be in the highest position you are in right now. It doesn't matter. Gay or not, you did a great job at keeping this pack up and going. And I, as your father; the one who taught you all the things I know, the one who shared the same lessons I learned from my own father, will always be proud of you no matter what. It's evident for the past years that you really are serving this pack the best you can. You've been nothing but the best Alpha this pack could ever have and could ever asked for. You nurtured the pack that I once served and you saw each and every member, not just a normal member, but as a part of our family. So if you're doubting yourself for not being capable as the Alpha of this pack, don't. Because you are more than capable than what you think." Dad said encouragingly.
I just sat there unable to form words in my head and still dumbstruck from what was currently happening.
They didn't hate me.
They're not disappointed in me.
And most of all, they accepted my mate.
This is just awesome.
"Mom, Dad, I....I don't know what to say." I admitted shaking my head disbelievingly.
"Well. I have an Idea." Mom chimed in with her bright smile.
I looked up at her with a curious look on my face.
"Tell us about your mate." She stated as she beamed brightly at me as Dad approved at his wife's idea.
I smiled. Finding the right word to describe my mate.
I looked up at them both.
"There's only one word that can best describe him Mom and Dad. And even if my mind came up with more, I know this word best suits him than any other." I told them happily.
I looked at each of their eyes and smiled.
"Perfect."

"Perfect."
