                    Connor's POV
Even before the gathering started, I always had this bad feeling inside and it doesn't seem to leave me alone. As I focused on Ash's emotions, I was also able to feel his uneasiness. He was scared and clearly feeling the same bad feelings as I did. I could feel how his mind races with all the thoughts running in his head, and the worries that was clearly bothering him.
I wanted to go look for him and assure him that he'll be fine because I'll keep an eye on him, but I figured he's with Arthur. And I was sure he'll do the job on easing up his worries.
That's why I was being extra cautious just in case something happens.
Now that I know what my destiny is, I have to make sure Ash is my upmost priority.
His safety comes first more than anything.
"Hey, Connor." A familiar voice called.
I whipped my head around to see the person I consider as a new friend.
I smiled warmly towards the guy who is only a tad bit taller than Ash.
"Hey, Daniel." I greeted back.
He stood next to me with a smile and a can of coke in hand.
"Enjoying the party?" He asked as he watched the people in front of us doing their own thing.
I shrugged.
"It's fine I guess," I stated simply.
"So how's the duty of being the soul protector of the Luna doing so far?" He asked with a small smile.
He knew about my situation and about my past with Ash after I told him, and since then, he always gives me that same look of sympathy whenever the subject was being brought up.
"Same old, same old. Nothing new." I said in which he nodded.
"How are you holding up though?"
I sighed as I turned my gaze towards Ash who's currently sitting next to his mate, Arthur.
"I'm doing okay. It's hard but I have to suck it up." I paused as I looked down at Danny. "I'll get used to this eventually," I added and smiled.
"You still love him, don't you?" He asked looking towards Ash and Arthur.
I smiled a sad smile.
"With every fiber of my being," I whispered.
Daniel looked up at me and placed a hand on my arm for comfort.
"I'm sorry it has to be this way for you." He said sympathetically.
I shook my head.
"It's all for the best, I guess. If it weren't for Arthur finding out Ash was his mate, I would've still been under the belief that Ash was my mate. I would have lied to Ash his whole life if destiny didn't take its original course. And I would have lied to a lot of people. And hurt a lot of people in the process." I said feeling the familiar hurt in my chest, but just like usual, I concealed it.
"I'm sure things will turn for the best for you in the future. You deserve all the happiness, Connor." He said in which I smiled down at him, feeling grateful.
"Yeah me too." I sighed. "But for now, I have to focus on keeping Ash safe."
He nodded before he knitted his brows in thought.
"I just have a thought crossed my mind though." He said as he looked up at me.
"What is it?"
"Why does Ash.....I mean Luna, needs all these protection? I mean, he has his mate who is very capable of protecting him. And now that he's officially introduced to the pack, he have us to look after him." He said in deep thought.
"I honestly don't know the answer. But if the Moon Goddess herself anointed me to be Ash's soul protector then there has to be an important reason behind it. For what ever reason it may be? I still have no idea what." I stated.
"It's strange, but who are we to question the Moon Goddess right?" He said with a tight smile.
"Right." I nodded before turning my gaze back to Ash who was currently walking towards the door heading back inside the pack house.
I frowned.
"Where are you going, Ash?" I asked through our personal mind link that was created after our minds were bonded.
He looked around obviously trying to search for me.
"I'm just gonna go use the bathroom real quick." He said and with that, I made a move to follow him.
"And stay where you are, I'll be back shortly. Enjoy the gathering Connor, it's not all the time we have huge gatherings like this." He said making me internally groan.
"I can't let you out of my sight Ash. You know I'm not the only one who had a bad feeling since this morning. I just can't risk anything." I stated as I excused myself from Daniel who smiled and nodded.
"I know that Connor. But I can assure you, nothing's going to happen so please, just relax and enjoy the night. I'll be back. Besides, we're inside the pack. For sure no one would dare to make any stupid attacks whatsoever." He said clearly not backing down.
Like always, when it comes to Ash, I always lose.
I sighed.
"Fine. But if you take too long in there, I'll come get you, okay?"
He chuckled causing for my heart to skip a beat like it always does when it comes to him.
"Okay. Now let me go to the bathroom. I wanna pee so bad." He said before he closed the link and walked back inside.
I sighed and shook my head at his stubbornness before I headed back to where Danny was standing.
After he spotted me walking towards him, he smiled.
"What was that about?" He asked with raised brows.
"Ash."
"What about him? Something wrong?" He asked with growing worried expression on his face.
I shook my head.
"He said he wants to use the bathroom and I told him I'll go with him. But then he told me not to." I stated which made his brows raise again.
"Well if you did go with him to the bathroom, I'm sure the Alpha wouldn't like it." He said making me shake my head again.
"I wasn't planning to go inside with him in the bathroom. Just stay outside and wait for him until he's done." I defended.
He chuckled.
"I know that. But then the Alpha would think otherwise. You know how possessive they can be when it comes to their mate." He said which actually made sense.
If I went with Ash, I would have gotten myself in trouble.
"Yeah, you're right."
With that, I forced myself to relax and to enjoy the night.
Daniel was generous enough to stay by me and have a constant conversation. He was really nice and understanding. I'm sure who ever his mate is, they'll be one lucky guy or girl to have Daniel as a mate.
The more I talked to him, the more I get to know him.
I found out he was gay and proud of it. I wasn't surprised really, since the first time I saw him I knew then he wasn't straight. He also said that most people in the pack knows he's gay, as well as his family who is also cool with it.
Honestly, I'm kind of glad that most people in this pack are so accepting of homosexuality. Not like some packs who discriminate them and look at them so lowly like they're nothing but dirt. Though I miss the pack I was born and grew up in, this pack makes me feel at home just the same.
"But anyway, I just noticed, it's been like 15 minutes and Ash hasn't come back yet," Daniel stated in which caught me by surprise.
F*ck, I forgot.
"Shit." I cursed under my breath as I excused myself from Daniel once again, but this time, he decided to follow me inside.
"Calm down Connor. I'm sure he's fine." He began.
"Ash where are you?" I called through our mind link and waited for his reply.
When seconds passed and he didn't, my uneasiness grew tenfold.
"Ash are you in there?" I tried again.
Still none.
"Ash, you're scaring me."
And once again, no reply.
"F*ck Ash, talk to me, will you!" I exclaimed restlessly.
With a fast beating heart, I jogged back inside with Daniel hot on my heels and followed Ash's scent which led me to the nearest bathroom.
Once I entered, I scanned around to see if he's in one of the stalls until I found all of them are empty.
"F*ck." I cursed under my breath as I grabbed a handful of my hair in frustration.
Daniel entered the bathroom and looked around.
"Maybe he went back to his mate." He said.
I shook my head.
"If he did, I would have known."
I sniffed the air and caught a whiff of Ash's scent.
I walked back outside the bathroom and followed the scent trail as it led me down the hall. And when it turned on the corner, my brows furrowed as I grew confused as to why would Ash head there when clearly the gathering was at the back yard.
"What is it?" Daniel asked as he stood next to me.
"I can smell his scent heading towards the front of the pack house," I said before I started walking once again.
Upon stepping out of the front door, I took a sniff on the air once again.
"Okay, Connor this is freaking me out. What's going on?" He said as he stepped out of the front door.
I looked around as I search for any guards who may have seen Ash pass by, but when I caught no sign of anyone, I frowned as I grew more nervous.
"Go back inside Daniel. Something isn't right here." I stated before I felt Daniel snake his hand into my arm.
"What's going on?" He asked as he eyed the surrounding warily.
"Have you noticed? There are no guards around." I spoke.
And by the look he gave me, he just realized it.
"Should we tell someone?" He asked.
I didn't answer as I followed the scent once again with Daniel close to me.
As I neared the edge of the woods, the scent started to go faint.
"F*ck!" I cursed lowly as Ash's scent fully vanished to nothingness.
"What is it?" He asked warily.
I looked down at him.
"Ash's scent vanished," I spoke and just like that, fear appeared on Daniel's green orbs.
"So he's....... he's missing?" He asked fearfully.
When I didn't answer, he tugs me on my arm. But my gaze was trained on towards the woods in front of me to care.
I lost Ash again for the second time.
I failed him again.
"Connor! Snap out of it." Daniel exclaimed. "We need to tell the Alpha." He said as he continued to tug my arm to gain my attention.
And there I came to a realization, I have to make a move.
I bolted towards the door and dragged Daniel with me.
We managed to make it to the backyard in record time. With Daniel catching his breath and with me having fear fully circulating my system.
"Go with the others, Daniel. I have to go tell the Alpha about this." I said and he only nodded in response.
And with that, I jogged towards the make up stage where Arthur sat with his niece on his lap.
Arthur's POV
It has been a full hour since my mate went missing. And I can barely contain my worry at the same time, anger. But most of all, the fear.
With me continuously following the tracks as it further heads North. The only thing running in my mind in full blast is my mate's safety. Is he okay? Is he hurt? Did his captor hurt him?
All I want is to have him back with me and know that he's perfectly safe and well.
As I kept running, I noticed we were nearing the borders of the neighboring pack, but I shrugged it off and decided to keep running.
"Alpha, we have to slow down," Brandon warned, who was trailing behind me. "We're nearing the Moon Hollows Pack. We can't just step into their territory without even as much as a notice. They'll think we're attacking them."
I looked down at the ground to see if the tracks were still there. And once making sure it was in fact there, I turned to look ahead towards the said pack in confusion.
If the tracks are leading towards their pack, does it mean they have my mate? Does it mean they're the ones who did this said crime?
With those questions in mind, my anger began to boil at unimaginable lengths.
"I don't care. I just want Ash back." I growled angrily.
"But Alpha, that will cause an unnecessary war and panic!" He exclaimed worriedly.
If I was ultimately driven with complete rage, I could even just barge into their lands and do whatever I want, as long as I get to have my mate back. But, thankfully, I wasn't one of those Alpha.
However, if I did find out they're behind this, I'll make sure to not hold my anger back towards them. I'll make sure to make them pay. Not just with any regular payments, but with blood. They know out of all packs, it's never a wise idea to mess with mine. I'm very protective of my pack, and if anyone even dares to cause chaos, I'll ruin their petty lives without a second thought.
Most of all, they should also think twice if they plan on causing trouble with my pack seeing as we're the second strongest in the world.
Or better said, it's never wise to mess with any pack no matter what their ranking.
It's just complete idiocy to make conflicts towards the others. Unless you're a psychopath and want nothing but chaos, then I wouldn't be surprised for being the cause of such a mess.
But since Brandon reminded me that if I recklessly entered their territory I will surely cause panic, I forced to calm myself down a bit.
I may be on a rampage and in bloodlust to whoever took my mate, but I will never take my rage out on innocent people.
"Alpha, the tracks lead towards their pack. Do you think they took your mate?" Brandon spoke through the mind link.
I growled with my anger now on a tight leash.
If it's true that their pack is the one behind this madness, I'll make sure to teach them a vital lesson not to mess with someone's mate. Especially mines.
"I don't want to accuse them, but with the tracks heading towards their pack, it makes me think otherwise," I replied, in gritted teeth.
"So what's your plan Alpha?" He questioned once again as we continued on our jog as we slowly approached the neighboring pack's borders.
I huffed out.
"We're going to find out if they're in fact behind all this," I said as we arrived at the borders.
"And what if it's them?"
I growled lowly. "I don't care if they're our allies, I'll make them pay."
Immediately, after the guards detected our presence, they arrived at our location.
I'm still sane enough to follow rules, so they better cooperate. But if they as much as try and stop me from searching their pack, they'll be picking on my last straw and I'm gonna lose it.
I quickly shifted to my human form and I faced the Moon Hollows Pack warriors, along with their Beta, Allen.
"What brought you here Alpha Arthur?" He asked as he scanned the warriors I have with me.
"Where's your Alpha?" I asked back, causing them to frown, which in return, made me growl lowly towards them.
He furrowed his brows in obvious confusion. "Why do you want to see our Alpha?" He asked once again, making me snarl towards him this time.
Brandon placed a hand on my shoulder, telling me to keep it together.
"It's important," Brandon spoke for me, seeing as I'm slowly losing my cool.
"As long as you don't tell us what this is all about, you won't be seeing our Alpha." He spoke, obviously testing my last straw before finally losing it.
"I don't f*cking care. Where is Franco?" I boomed, catching all of them off guard.
With that, the Beta raised his hand in submission.
"We don't want any trouble, Alpha. We just want to know why you came here in our borders with your warriors." He said, clearly intimidated.
"Someone took our future Luna," Brandon answered, since obviously I was way too angry to even answer them myself.
Allen raised a brow, clearly surprised.
"Your future Luna?" He asked before meeting his gaze with mine. "You found your mate?" He asked me directly.
>If our Beta said 'Their future Luna' then that itself says it's our f*cking mate, genius.< Zion snarled in my head.
Allen folded his arms on his chest. "Then what brings you here?" He asked, obviously trying to act all superior and sh*t.
That ain't gonna work on me.
"Tracks," I spoke, still with my eyes trained on the overly annoying Beta standing in front of me.
Once again, he furrowed his brows at me.
"Tracks?"
This guy really is testing the last of my remaining patience.
"Look at the ground, Pup," I seethed angrily through gritted teeth.
His jaw ticked at the call of 'Pup' but looked towards the ground nonetheless. When his eyes found what I was trying to mean, he then looked up at me.
"Are you accusing us of kidnapping your mate?" He questioned, clearly outraged.
I snarled at him, making his little brave faćade to fall a little.
"Then tell me, why are these tracks heading towards your pack?" I spat angrily as I stepped closer to the Beta.
Allen snarled back, trying to be intimidating himself.
"What is going on here?" A voice interrupted before Allen and I broke into a deadly fight.
I looked up and saw Franco, the pack's Alpha, walking towards us.
"Arthur? What's the meaning of this?" He asked as he stepped between Allen and me.
Franco and I are long-time friends. I've known him since I was in my teenage years because he and I went to the same school and was on the football team. That's why when he took the position as their pack's Alpha, he made an alliance request with our pack which I didn't even try to decline seeing as I know Franco was a good guy. Far better than his father who was a 'good for nothing assh*le' who treats Omegas like they worth as much as trash. Since then, our packs live in harmony and peace until this incident happened.
"He's accusing our pack of taking his mate, Alpha." Allen, the Beta, spoke up.
Franco turned his attention to him and then back to me.
"What?" He asked incredulously.
"Then why do these tracks lead towards your pack?" I questioned as I pointed at the tracks on the ground.
He kneeled, turned his eyes at the tracks and scanned them.
"And what makes you think those tracks belong to one of my members, Arthur?" He asked after he stood back up.
I glared at him.
"Don't you dare answer me back with a question," I warned with a snarl. "You know better not to pull that kind of sh*t on me, Franco."
He just shook his head as he stood there unfazed with my sudden outburst of anger.
"And I thought you know I'm not the kind of person who would do such an act towards you, Arthur." He said. "I didn't even know you found your mate. Now, why would I even dare try pulling that stunt on you when I know it's a death wish?"
I glared at him again as his words sank in my brain.
"So tell me. What makes you think those tracks belong to one of my pack members?" He gave me the same question again.
I gritted my teeth again as I thought of some acceptable answers, but ended up none.
I sighed, forcing myself to calm down. If I continue to drive myself with anger, it will surely get us nowhere.
"I don't know, okay," I admitted as I once again met his gaze. "Someone took my mate, Franco. And I just got him."
Franco looked down after seeing the distress and sadness in my eyes.
This time, it was his turn to sigh.
"I'm sorry." He said. "I'm sorry if this happened to you, Arthur, I really am. But you can't just accuse us of such crime just because some tracks lead straight towards us."
"Have you ever thought that maybe this is just a diversion? To lead you the wrong way just so your mate's captor can escape?" Franco asked. And right then and there, it dawned on me that maybe he's right.
"Look, I want to help even if you declined it. And if it makes you feel any better, you can search the entirety of my pack. If you find your mate hidden somewhere within my territory, then you have my life in your hands." He stated as he placed a hand on my shoulders.
I looked at him in the eye and saw nothing but honesty and sincerity.
I sighed.
"Now that you personally have given me permission, I will search your pack," I said as I fought the urge to smirk at his shocked face. "But, this doesn't mean that I don't trust you," I added as Franco shook his head.
"You're such an assh*le." He said with a smile.
"I just want to make sure," I said. "Also, I would really appreciate your help."
He nodded.
"Anytime." He said.
And with that, I turned around to the men who were standing close behind.
I instructed Baxter, a pack warrior, to lead a team who will do a search inside Franco's pack and without a second, he along with close to 30 other warriors were off to do said task.
"So what's your plan?" Franco asked after I turned my attention back to him.
I furrowed my brows.
"I don't know. But I'll come up with something."
"Arthur," Brandon called, turning my attention to him. "I think we should send some warriors searching further out of this territory, just to make sure." He suggested, making me stop in thought. "Just in case the tracks went on." He added, making me nod.
"Good idea," I spoke before turning to those remaining men with me. "Leo, bring 10 warriors with you and search further out of this territory. If you find the tracks continuing on, I want you to report it to me immediately, understood?" I commanded.
He nodded. "Yes, Alpha."
And with that, he and some warriors went to do what I ordered.
"So what really happened?" Franco asked.
I looked at him and then at the men standing close behind.
"Let's discuss this somewhere private," I spoke.
I can't be hundred percent sure no one in his pack is a traitor. I trust Franco, but not so much with his pack where I know some are still loyal to his father, the former Alpha.
That f*cker already tried to cause conflict with my pack a long time ago. Who knows what's running on that guy's mind. And I can't risk anything.
Franco nodded his head again before turning to his Beta.
"You will be in-charge of the pack for a couple of hours, Allen. If something goes wrong, don't hesitate to call me through the mind-link." He instructed in which his Beta obeyed.
"Yes, Alpha," Allen said with a bow.
"Good."
With that, Franco turned to me.
"Let's discuss this in your office maybe?" He said and I gave him a single nod.
After Franco and I made it to my office, I called Chandler, Connor, and my Dad to join us come up with some plans.
"Okay, I will start with a question," Franco said earning all our attention.
"Go ahead," I told him as I paced back and forth behind my desk.
He placed a finger on his stubble covered chin with furrowed brows, clearly deep in thought.
"Do you happen to have CCTV cameras installed in this pack?" He asked.
And right then and there, I kinda figured out what he was trying to mean.
"How the f*ck did I not think of that," I spoke as I finally sat down on my desk chair and opened the computer up.
"I'll take that as an answer that you do have cameras installed," Franco mumbled making me turn to him and send him a small nod.
"I always knew you're smart," I said. "A nerd at that," I added which Franco snorted.
"Yeah right. I remember you calling me the odd nerd football player back in high school." He said.
I smiled a little. "I haven't encountered someone being a nerd and a football player before. Last time I checked, those two doesn't mix well." I said with my eyes trained on the computer in front of me.
Without even looking at him, I know he rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, f*ck off." He said before quieting down.
Once I opened the surveillance app on my desktop, I clicked it and all the views from every CCTV camera installed all throughout the pack popped out one by one.
"Here we go," I spoke in which the guys gathered behind me to check it out as well.
I rewinded the saved clips to 2 hours earlier during the gathering.
"Damn, you just introduced him to the pack then this happened?" Franco said.
I turned to him and gave him a glare.
"Sorry." He quickly said back in apology.
>We have to act fast, Arthur. And soon.< Zion barked inside my head, causing me to feel his growing worry for our beloved mate.
>We will, Zion. We just have to come up with something before we make a move.< I told him.
>Well, make it fast. I need my mate back.< He growled impatiently, making me growl back at him.
>So do I, idiot. But if we move out without even as much as a solid plan, we'll put our mate in more danger than he already is now.< I reasoned to my wolf, making him huff.
>Then come up with something.< He pushed making me want to just smack him in the face.
>What the f*ck do you think we're doing?< I pointed out.
>Looking at the footage won't help. Let's just go out there and start looking.< He said even more impatient this time.
>Well, if you have any idea where our mate could be, then I'm all ears.< I told him, in which he only replied with complete silence.
>Look, I know you're scared and worried for our mate's well being, but so am I. But we can't just recklessly go out and go looking for him without any plans at all. This is not something we can solely rely on our instincts, Zion. You have to realize that we may be dealing with something even more serious than we thought. That's why we have to make a plan, because if we don't, It'll just slow us down and might even put our mate in grave danger.< I reasoned out to him again, in which he huffed, not uttering anything back before he disappeared into the depths of my mind.
I sighed mentally. It's so tiring when I had to argue and put some sense into my wolf's thick, illogical head.
Going back to the task at hand, we inspected the clip, as I put the playback speed to 2.5x.
"Right there, Alpha," Chandler said, making me press the pause button.
He pointed at the screen where Ash entered the hall as he went to the bathrooms.
I put the playback speed to normal and watched as my mate stepped into the hallway and disappeared inside the restroom.
And since I figured it's very disrespectful to put CCTV cameras inside the restroom, we decided against it.
We continued to play the clip a little more until someone went inside the restroom. Specifically, a guy.
"Who the f*ck is that?" I questioned with a low growl to no one in particular.
I rewinded the moment that guy opened the door to the restroom and then hit the 'pause' button.
"Does he look familiar to you or something?" Franco asked.
I looked at the guy closely and inspected him. Then I shook my head.
"I don't think so. I don't even know if I even saw him in the pack," I spoke.
"I don't think I met him either," Chandler spoke up as well.
"I haven't been in this pack as long as you guys, so no, I haven't met him," Connor said.
I turned to Dad.
"Dad? Does he look familiar to you?"
Dad looked closer at the screen as he inspected the picture of the said person.
"I'm not sure if I met him either, but I somehow find some resemblance of someone on him." He stated which sparked up our curiosity. "But I can't be sure either since I can fairly see his face fully," Dad added.
"Resemblance of who?" I asked with an arched brow, interested to know who he's referring to.
Dad looked at me.
"I doubt it's him." He said, before glancing at the screen then to me. "But he does have some close resemblance with a son of an old friend of mine back in Oklahoma." He said before turning his gaze back at the computer screen once again. "He was the Beta of Night Spring Pack."
I raised a brow once again at the mention of that pack.
"Night Spring Pack? You mean the one that was brutally massacred 3 years ago, with rumors to have no survivors at all?" Franco asked and Dad nodded his head.
"Damn," Chandler mumbled under his breath.
"And Jude, along with his whole family are confirmed to be part of those who were killed."
"That's odd," Franco started, making me turn my gaze to him. "If this guy is somehow related to that friend Dominic is referring, then why is he still alive?"
"Then maybe he's not related to that former Beta, and just so happens to have a very close resemblance?" Connor said which was possible.
"And if he was, in fact, a son or related to Jude, why would he want to kidnap Arthur's mate in the first place?" He added thoughtfully.
I turned back to Dad.
"Did you had any conflict with that pack before, Dad?" I asked.
He shook his head.
"Absolutely nothing. Even before I was Alpha." He said. "Their pack and ours were alliances since my great grandfather's ruling, before they were terminated by a brutal massacre. And I highly doubt they would even try to cause conflict with us seeing as we are obviously higher ranked and more capable at war than them."
I nodded. He does have a point.
"So who is this guy?" Franco questioned to no one particularly.
"One way to find out," I stated eagerly before I pressed the play button, continuing on with the clip.
A few moments passed by, the bathroom door opened once again and out the mystery guy with my mate following behind him.
"It's confirmed. We have a suspect. He's the one who took Luna," Chandler spoke as he glared at the screen.
"F*ck." Dad cursed lowly as he stared at the computer monitor.
"What is it Dad?" I asked as I looked at his slowly paling face.
He then turned his gaze towards me with fear gazing his now aging features.
"That's Jordan. Jude's son." He said catching all of us off guard. And immediately, I could feel my heartbeat running a thousand miles a second.
"What?" I, along with the three other guys, said in unison.
"How the f*ck is he still alive if the rumors said no one survived? Even the Alpha?" Connor asked, now also panic stricken just like everyone else in the room.
"Well, they did place the word 'rumor' for a reason," Franco said.
And at that moment, I had the strongest urge to slap the living daylights out of him for being such a smartass, but then decided against it.
"Also, as what I said earlier, why would he even dare kidnap your mate? What does he want?" Franco added as he looked at me.
"What if it's Kidnap for ransom?" Chandler spoke silencing every one of us in the room.
I was utterly shocked that I feel helpless and completely powerless.
But even with my mind fully fogged up from all the thoughts and logical thinking, I still kept myself together. And even with my body physically stricken at the thought of my mate being used as a 'kidnap for ransom', I still decided to stay strong.
My mate needs me, and I have to act fast if I want to get him back safe and unscathed.
"What does he want if his intention is kidnap for ransom?" Connor asked.
"Well...." Franco began. "Your pack is the second most powerful in the world. From what I think, maybe he needs one of the things your pack has? Power." He stated which caused all the blood to drain out of my entire system.
"But that's just a thought." Franco immediately added. "We don't know what he wants. And we still don't know if this was even a kidnap for ransom. So I guess, for now, the advice I can give is, just hope for the safety of your mate, the future Luna. And pray that whatever this Jordan guy wants, it's not kidnap for ransom that we feared for."
My father placed a hand on my shoulder as a gesture of comfort.
"What's your plan, son?" He asked.
I didn't answer. Instead, I played the clip once again and watched as Jordan lead my mate through the hallway and then turned left heading towards the front of the pack house.
"One thing I noticed that time is that there were no guards around," Connor said with his eyes trained on the computer screen.
"What?" I burst out as I paused the clip once again. "What do you mean there were no guards?" I asked him like he had gone mad.
Connor averted his gaze from the screen to me before he replied.
"I know you stationed a lot of warriors around the pack house for the gathering, Alpha. But for some reason, there was not even one guard at the front when Ash got taken away." He stated.
I turned to the computer and resumed the clip.
As shown in the screen, Ash and Jordan stopped at the edge of the forest. And by the looks of it, they were having a conversation until Jordan handed my mate something.
Then suddenly, from the angle that the camera was installed, it looks like Ash was spraying himself with something that Jordan just gave.
"What the heck is he doing?" Franco asked as he stared at the screen closely.
"Is that a perfume bottle?" Chandler questioned as well.
"Maybe, I think from this angle, I can see some of its label," Connor said as he himself stared at the screen.
When Ash handed the bottle back to Jordan, that's when it clicked to me what it was. By the looks of it and by what it said at the faint indication at the label, it was a perfume.
"Victoria's Secret perfume?" I questioned as I looked at all of them with uniformed confused look.
"Why would he give your mate a perfume?" Franco asked as he kept his gaze at the screen.
When it dawned on me, the fear that has consumed me ever since my mate's disappearance, tripled after I realized what Jordan gave him.
"F*ck." I cursed.
"It's not a perfume if it didn't leave a trail behind them," Connor spoke.
"What do you mean?" Franco asked as he turned to Connor.
"He's right. It's not a perfume." I seconded, with my eyes back on the computer screen.
"When I followed Ash, his scent vanished right there at the edge of the forest," Connor said pointing at the computer monitor.
And there it showed Jordan with Ash following close behind as they began to enter the forest.
"So it's....." Chandler spoke but I beat him to it.
"A scent concealer."
"But how is that possible?" Dad asked. "We all know that supernatural scent concealer has the rarest ingredients to produce, that even most of the elders aren't sure or don't know exactly where to find them. So how was he able to make one?"
"Maybe he knows where to find them then?" Franco spoke up.
I shook my head, feeling the irritation mixing with the fear.
"That's not our main concern at the moment." I intervened. "We can brainstorm about the ingredient's origin when I have my mate back."
"So what do you have planned, Alpha?" Chandler asked.
Before I could answer, Dad called my name, earning me his attention.
"Maybe it's a good idea that we inform other Alphas from our allied packs about this. In that way, maybe they'll be able to help with the whereabouts of Jordan." He said.
I nodded, accepting Dad's suggestion.
"Yes, that's a good start. Thanks, Dad." I said as I gave him a grateful smile.
"Just give me the 'go-signal' Alpha," Chandler said.
"Go ahead, Chand," I said as I gave him a single nod.
"Alright, I'll call each Alphas from our allied packs right this instant." He said as he fetched his phone from his pocket.
I was about to give him another instruction when something clicked in my mind.
Right then and there, I almost cried from pure joy as it finally dawned on me.
Call, Phone.
Of course! How could I miss that?
To make a call, you use a phone. And a phone is something Ash always have with him all the time.
"Holy sh*t!" I exclaimed happily, startling the others in the process.
Dad turned to me with a curious look.
"What is it?" He asked as he watched me shuffle around in search of my mobile phone.
Once I had it in my grasp, I raised it for everyone to see. "My phone," I said.
"What's going on?" Franco stepped in as well as he wore the same curious look.
Connor just stood there quietly as he waited for me to spill whatever idea I have in mind.
As Franco's eyes landed on my phone under my grasp, he raised a brow.
"Okay? So I see it's an iPhone latest model, so what?" Franco said as he stared at it.
For a nerdy guy like him, he can still be so slow at times.
"Son, what are you trying to point out?" Dad asked, clearly not getting the idea.
I shook my head.
"Don't you guys get it? Using my phone, I'll be able to track my mate's whereabouts." I spilled which caused a few pairs of eyebrows to rise into their foreheads.
"Okay, now I get it. But still, you won't be able to track him if he doesn't have the app on his..." He trailed off once he saw the knowing look on my face. "Oh, you installed it on his phone, you sneaky f*cker."
"Well, now it's going to be used to save him so it's all a win-win situation," I admitted as I opened the app on my cellular phone.
After that, they didn't utter a word.
I sighed. I just hope everything works out fine. And I just hope I'll get to rescue him in time because his safety is always at risk when he's with that guy.
Just hold on my beautiful little bunny. I'll be there and come get you as fast as I can, I promise.
