Ariah's POV
It was weird to just be able to wake up. It was like I was just being born but at the same time, already acquiring all the knowledge I needed.
The moment I finally woken up for the first time and be able to see through my human's eyes, I was a little confused because of how unsettled he was. And when I was also finally able to feel what he was feeling, that's when I realized he was in distress.
The most dominant feeling out of all that he's having was fear. And since we pretty much share the same memories, I was quick to find out why he's scared. And in an instant, I knew I had to do something to at least ease my human up a bit. But I also knew it'll be a hard task seeing as it's going to be the first time he'll get to meet me. As much as I didn't want to freak him out, it's going to happen eventually after I get to introduce myself to him. So I just settled with just going with it.
And after finally, and successfully introducing myself to Ash, I thought it went pretty well, despite our current situation.
But even after all that, he was still very apprehensive. He's obviously scared that I could be Azrael's little trick. But I made sure to ease his raging thoughts out and told him what I am, and slowly, he calmed down a bit.
I was also kind of pleased with myself because I was able to show Ash how to shift to our wolf form. And after knowing he's very ecstatic realizing he can shift to a wolf, I was also very happy.
But apparently, our little 'get to know' moment was short-lived after a sudden commotion occurred just outside the door that was protecting us. And after a few convincing with Ash that I should take over to better protect him, he finally agreed.
I was only planning on having half the control, but when a rogue decided to attack us and Ash's past experiences flashed before my very eyes, that's when I knew I had to take full command of our body.
I was completely consumed with Ash's emotions that I just lost myself. I succumbed to extreme anger that I couldn't grow to care about who I killed and hurt as long as I was able to protect my human. And since we're obviously carrying our mate's pup, it only worsened everything.
I was only able to calm down a bit and give Ash control when I was sure there's no longer an imminent threat. And that was the moment we stumbled with Ash's ex-boyfriend, Connor, along with Ash's friend, Winter, as well a few unknown ones.
It was hard not to laugh a little at their faces when they saw us standing at the top of the stairs. The look of pure awe-struck of each face was very flattering but at the same time funny. What's even funnier was when Ash realized he was naked after we shifted back to human form. He kind of blamed me for not letting him know beforehand that he's gonna end up stark naked, but I didn't mind. I mean it was funny to have my human all flattered and embarrassed in front of the people we know, as well as to those we don't.
Thank the Goddess I didn't have to wear those weird clothing. They simply looked very uncomfortable. It's so much better when you're naked. But then again, Ash said being in human form and in wolf form is a totally different case, which kind of confuses me. I mean humans are animals too. They're the king and queens of the food chain but that doesn't mean they're no different than those below them. So why wear clothing when it's a naturality to be naked.
I just don't get it.
But then again, humans. They're very confusing.
After the little chat between me, Connor, Winter, and Ash, we were so rudely interrupted by those filthy rogues and hunters once again.
They just don't know when to give someone a break. They're very persistent little critters.
I was finally feeling calm. But when one hunter disrespectfully talked to my human, it was like a switch was turned and I was once again filled with so much anger. Ash talked me out on losing myself again but I just couldn't guarantee I won't. I have a short fuse, and Ash knows that the moment I pretty much tore our earlier attackers' bodies to tiny shreds of flesh. I don't take it lightly when someone disrespects me or Ash, or even worse, someone who attempts to hurt us.
So when an idiot rogue decided to make a move on attacking us, I didn't hesitate to end it's pathetic life.
And after that, I was pretty much on a killing spree. Only this time, I have more rogues and hunters to kill than earlier. And as weird as this may sound but, I enjoyed tearing their flesh to pieces. It was satisfying my strong urge to have someone's blood in my mouth. And hearing the sound of each bone I break was like music to my ears.
So when I was finally done with mercilessly tearing hunters and rogues to nothingness, I turned to the next potential threat which stood not too far from us. And since my mind was hazed with total blood lust, I was no longer recognizing who are friends and who are foes. All I cared about at that moment was to get my mouth around someone's neck, breaking it then separating it from its body, and tear it till it's no longer recognizable. Just flesh littering the floor along with its own blood.
That's why when my eyes landed towards the people who were fighting beside me, I no longer have the control to stop myself. My mind was too clouded with lust for blood that I didn't even care who I kill. The urge was just too strong that not even Ash's pained and fearful callings to make me stop was working.
I just want to kill.
And at the moment when I finally made a move on attacking, that's when I was sure I'm in a huge mess. And I knew Ash won't forgive me if ever I was able to hurt anyone of them.
But before I could land a huge destructive blow towards someone, a strong surge of something I wasn't sure of, suddenly went through me and halting me on my attacks. I was effectively frozen on the spot until I felt Ash gaining back full control. And once he was back on our human form, that's when I blacked out.
I woke up into an empty void where, somehow, I couldn't reach Ash. I tried to communicate with him but I was unable to. It was like he's locked me up.
It hasn't been a full day and I've already made so much damage. I've made a bad impression on our own friends, as well as threatened to hurt them.
I didn't mean it. I was just clouded with such blood lust that I also lost control of myself. It was just my instinct.
It wasn't my intention to hurt anyone of them.
As I continued to drown myself from disappointment, I suddenly felt someone slowly connecting with me. And without even guessing who it was, I already knew it was Ash.
>Oh my God, I thought something bad happened to you.< Ash said worriedly.
I frown upon realizing I'm not able to see through his eyes, and not being able to gain a slight control of our body. We've reconnected, so I could've been able to see what he's seeing by now.
>I'm sorry about what happened earlier.< I spoke to him softly, feeling extremely apologetic about my actions.
I felt him let out a deep sigh, also feeling the stress building up inside him.
>I gotta admit, you did scare me. What you did was a lot worse when you confronted those rogues that tried to attack us inside Azrael's room. It was more brutal and... and violent.< He said in a hushed tone.
>I know, I know. And I'm really sorry. I should've had more control of my urges and instincts. But I promise it won't happen again.< I stated, genuinely apologetic about what I did.
>Ariah, I know you're my wolf, and I know you're me, but why is everything about you so opposite of... of me? During the time you were under extreme blood lust, I was just in shock of how violent your thoughts were. And I can't even comprehend how vicious those images that showed in your mind of how you're going to kill those people. And some of those people happen to include our friends. Why were you so keen on killing someone?< He said, clearly waiting for a valid explanation.
I paused for a while.
>I don't know. I'm not even sure now if it was just pure instinct anymore. All I know is that I had to protect you as best as I can. After all these years that I wasn't able to, I thought I should make up for the lost time, and do what I was supposed to do and that is to keep you safe. But I guess I went overboard by almost harming the people that are important and close to you. And since we're carrying our mate's pup, I guess it only amplified my rage. I also let myself be consumed with so much anger after seeing the memories of what you've been through in the past, and that's when I just lost every inch of control I have. So I'm sorry. I really am.< I apologized genuinely.
I felt him metally sigh once again.
>I understand that you're doing this for us, Ariah, but you have to promise me you'll be more careful and be more in control of yourself next time.< He said softly, like how a Mom disciplines a toddler.
I gave him a mental nod.
>I will.< I stated.
Before he closes our personal link, I quickly went to ask him the question that was bugging me since we reconnected.
>Hey Ash,< I called, feeling him giving me his attention once more.
>Hmm?<
>So, for some reason, I'm still not able to gain control of our body. It's. like I'm being locked out.< I admitted.
>What do you mean?< He questioned back, feeling confused.
>I can't see through our eyes, hear through our ears and feel what you feel. Did you do something?<
He mentally shook his head at me.
>I'm not quite sure. All I know is that I forced myself to push through for control when you were about to attack Connor. And after that, we shifted back to human form and suddenly I couldn't feel you. I tried to talk to you but I somehow couldn't, not until just five minutes ago when you finally gave me a response.< He explained.
>That's odd. I can talk to you but I can't get myself to gain control.<
>So does that mean you can't shift to our wolf form?< He asked, feeling a little worried.
>I can't, but you can.<
>But I don't know how to fight if ever needed!< He exclaimed.
>That's simple. Just use your instincts. You're a werewolf after all.< I told him confidently.
I felt him mentally shake his head again.
>It's not that simple actually. You have to understand that I've only discovered I am in fact a werewolf just a few hours ago. There are clearly a lot of things I don't know about being one.< He reasoned out, slightly out of breath.
>Fair enough. But why are you out of breath? Is everything alright?< I asked, feeling slightly nervous about what he's gonna say.
Please, don't be about the baby getting hurt.
>I'm currently being carried by Connor. We're still trying to get out of this horrendous place.< He said, making me mentally let out a small sigh of relief.
Thank the Goddess, the baby is fine.
I suddenly remembered about the people that were also taken captive inside the mansion. The one Ash was talking about with a guy.
>What about the people that are also locked up just under us?< I quickly asked.
>Oh my Goodness, I forgot about that. I'm glad you remembered.< He exclaimed once again before he suddenly closed our personal link.
I'm guessing he's telling Connor about it.
I just hope he did.
I can only imagine what they'll find down there. The amount of innocent people suffering just because of one selfish f*cking bastard who happens to be the demon himself. I just hope they'll do something to help them. They don't deserve this. They really don't.
>Ariah?< Ash called and I immediately turned my attention to him.
>What happened?<
>I told Connor about it. And he said they're gonna deal with it once I'm out of this mansion and safe.< He said which I didn't argue.
They did come to rescue us, so I can't blame them if they set Ash as a priority before anything else. And as selfish as this may sound but, I want Ash safe.
>Connor told me he contacted Arthur and informed him about the people that are also taken captive, he said he's gonna try to send a group to retrieve them. I just hope he will. Those people needed to be saved.< He said.
>It would have been a lot easier if we were able to talk to our mate using mind-link, huh.< I stated.
>Yeah. I would have been able to let him know that myself, and that I'm okay, just to ease his mind up.<
>Can you feel him?< I asked.
>Now that he's close? Yes. I can feel all sorts of emotions from him. Anger being above all of them.< He admitted, making me mentally hum at what he said.
>It would have been nice to feel my mate for the first time.< I also admitted.
>I'm sorry. But I swear I don't know what happened. I don't even know what I did for you to be locked out like this.< He said apologetically.
>Hey. It's fine. I'm sure we'll both figure this out soon. But for now, let's prioritize getting out of this goddamn mansion, okay?< I told him softly. Encouraging him to stay optimistic.
>Okay.< He said with a small sigh.
Arthur's POV
Thank the Goddess he's alright. I don't even know if I can ever keep myself sane if I found out he and the baby was hurt. I'd probably go rabid and kill anyone and anything that moves on sight. I'd also probably be a lot worse than I am right now. I may be killing all these damn rogues and hunters like an insect and with ease, but if I lost control of myself, it's going to be a whole different story.
I'm just glad Connor and his troupes got Ash successfully, so we can finally end this nightmare once and for all. I've already had too much headache for a lifetime. I don't need more. And I sure as hell deserves a vacation after all these mess, which Ash also would benefit greatly.
I just hope he'll be fine after all of this is done. I'm afraid this whole ordeal made such huge damage to him. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. I won't be surprised if he's highly traumatized by all this. But I'll make sure I'll be by his side every step of the way during his recovery.
"Alpha, we're now heading back to the sewers. Luna's doing just fine with us. He passed out earlier but now he's conscious. We'll meet you back at the packhouse. Be careful." Connor said through the mind-link
"That's great news, Connor. You better take good care of my mate while I finish this." I replied back to him.
"I will, Alpha." He responded before closing the mind-link.
And with that, I turned my whole attention into the battle.
"Arthur," Delsiah called as he stood behind me.
"What?" I asked without taking my attention from the fight.
Snapping my jaw at the rogue's neck and shaking my head violently, I finally heard a satisfying crack.
"I have a strong feeling Azrael knows what you're planning. Your mate might still be in grave danger." He said worriedly, as he took down a hunter.
"What do you mean?" I questioned, feeling the worry to creep it's way back into me.
"What I'm saying is that he probably knows where they are right now." He said fearfully.
"They took the same escape route as Winter did before. They're almost out." I told him.
"Exactly my point. I didn't want to say it out loud just in case these pests report it to him." He stated, but this time, through our mind-link. "But Arthur, I just had this feeling Azrael's planning something else." He said as he caught an arrow flew right in front of his face and stabbing a rogue in the neck with it.
And with that, I decided to warn Connor.
"Connor, listen. You have to be very careful. Delsiah told me he had this  feeling Azrael's planning something to get my mate again. I just want to let you know." I warned sternly through our link.
"Thanks, Alpha. And I will. We're almost out, but just in case, we'll check the cameras first if it's clear. Winter's already on it." He reassured, making me let out a small sigh.
"Good. Let me know if anything is suspicious or something goes wrong. I have a few more men standing on standby just in case you guys need backup." I told him.
"Sure will. Thanks again, Alpha." He said before I closed the link and turning back to Delsiah who was still busy taking down rogues and hunters.
"They're fine. I told them to be careful. Now they're checking the surrounding cameras for anything suspicious."
He sighed. "Maybe I'm wrong. I just hope I am wrong this time." He said as he met my eyes. There I saw the fear still swimming in them. "Azrael is cleaver, Arthur. Don't underestimate him or you might get your mate in even more danger. I hope you know that." He said worriedly.
"I do. That's why I'm taking extra precautions, Delsiah." I told him.
"I am aware. But I'm afraid It may not be enough." He replied, making me frown mentally at him.
"Then what do you want me to do?" I asked, feeling irritated that he's so pessimistic of all that I'm doing to keep my mate safe.
He shook his head. "I... I don't know." He stammered. "I'm trying to reach Azrael's head to see what he's thinking but he's closed off. It's like he had some kind of protective barrier around him, preventing me from entering his mind." He said fearfully once again. "He probably knows I'm here." He added as he looked up towards the rooftop of the mansion.
And there I saw Azrael standing with his arms crossed, wearing the same smug grin on his face, all the while shaking his head mockingly at Delsiah.
"Does he know what you're trying to do?" I asked as I ripped a rogue's arm off.
"Well, from the looks of it, he does." He said before Azrael retreated somewhere that is out of our view. "Now he'll probably have someone to target me and have me dead."
"Just be more vigilant," I said as I once again turned my full attention towards the on-going bloody fight.
We're already a few meters away from the entrance, but Delsiah thought it might be best if we fight all these f*ckers off in the open field. And since the chances of us getting trapped inside the mansion and getting ambushed was high, I agreed to his idea.
"Alpha, a pack warrior told me there are hundreds of wolves coming down from the north," Chandler said breathlessly as he kept the rogues at bay.
"A pack of rogues?" I asked.
"They don't seem to be rogues, Alpha. The warriors said they don't have red eyes." He stated, making me mentally frown at the information.
"Then who the hell is it?" I said frustratedly.
If they happen to be on the enemy's side then we're screwed and definitely outnumbered. My men are already tired from fighting Azrael's minions. I'm afraid they won't make it if more of Azrael's allies came to join in.
"Do you know their exact number, Chand?" I asked.
"Samson said there are probably a hundred to a hundred fifty of them. But he said he could be wrong." Chandler said, causing me to groan internally.
If those numbers were accurate then we are definitely outnumbered if they happen to be with the enemy.
I have to let Linux know about this.
"Alright, Chand. Thanks for letting me know." I told him. "I'll talk to you once we come up with a plan on how to handle this. For now, keep up with what you're doing. And you better not die on me." I said.
"As if I'd let these f*ckers kill me. It'd take a motherf*cking God to actually kill a Chandler." He said oh-so proudly, making me chuckle a little.
"Yeah whatever," I said with a small shake of my head before closing the link and went to let Delsiah know about the situation. And because I can't contact Linux through mind-link, Delsiah will be able to pass the message to him since he can talk to anyone through his mind.
"Del, can you let Linux know that there are more f*cking wolves coming down from the north? I can't contact him through mind-link, but you can." I requested, which he quickly abide.
"You don't have to worry, you know," Delsiah said casually.
"And why is that?" I asked.
"They're not allies with Azrael. They're here to help us." He assured, making me confused.
"How do you know they're not with Azrael?" I asked once again.
"I just know." He said confidently, which somehow calmed my racing mind. "Trust me, they're friends" He added.
I huffed. "Fine. I'm trusting your judgment on this, Del. I just hope you are right."
"I promise you, they're not a threat." He reassured once again.
I huffed one more time before I went on with terminating more pests that are the rogues and hunters. These guys just don't seem to get the memo. We are not giving up and we will have every single one of them on the ground, dead and left to rot.
While at it, I made sure to get back to tell Chandler about the oncoming wolves.
"Chand, tell your men not to attack those wolves that are heading towards us. Delsiah told me they're not enemies." I said a bit breathless after taking down two rogues at a time.
Not long after, Chandler responded back.
"Yes, Alpha." He said gratefully. "Oh and Samson told me, they're about five minutes away."
I nodded internally at the information. They're close. Five minutes will just fly by and for sure, they'll burst from the edge of these woods ready to fight with us.
"Okay good. Thanks Chand." Was all I said before we close the link once again.
A little help would be greatly appreciated right now. And whoever this pack belongs to, I sure owe them big time.
I was suddenly thrown off to my side as a rogue advanced towards me while I was slightly distracted. I quickly bared my teeth as I turn my gaze at the rogue.
"Alpha!" Delsiah exclaimed.
"I'm fine," I told him. "Just stay behind me just in case," I added, which made him nod his head.
A loud growl vibrated from my chest as I eyed the rogues in front of me as well as keeping in mind the one that's standing on my right. I was studying their stature to see what their future attacks are going to be. It was kinda obvious the rogue in front of me was only eyeing to attack my neck. While the one on my side wants to get a good bite somewhere, probably on my right back leg.
As the rogue on my side decided to attack first, I was quick to turn while still keeping the rogue in front of me in check. Before the first rogue landed a damage on my leg, I went to latch my jaw around its neck while I swatted the other rogues' snout with my paw.
After recovering, the other rogue went to latch itself onto my left upper arm. I winced at the pain but didn't really put much thought to it as I shook my head violently, snapping the other rogue's neck, ending its pathetic life for good.
Dropping the lifeless body onto the blood-covered field, I turned my attention to the first rogue and locked my jaw around its shoulder. It yelped in pain causing it to let go of my upper arm. I swung my head and threw the damn thing a few meters away, with it landing on its side with a heavy gash on its shoulder. It tried to stand back up but was only able to let out a small whimper. There I noticed the rogue doesn't have its usual red eyes, making me look at it in confusion. Then I finally understood why it hesitated to attack me the chance it got. It was because this wolf wasn't a rogue.
How the hell is a sane wolf fighting for Azrael?
I stepped closer towards it, making the wolf whimper submittedly in fear for its life. As I went to inspect it closely, I had a guess it could be in its early twenties with how it responded to my stature as Alpha.
"Del, come over here," I called the elder, causing him to snap his attention towards me.
"What's wrong?" He asked after he came over and stood next to me.
"This fella right here isn't a rogue. What the hell is he doing here and why the f*ck is he fighting for Azrael?" I questioned as I kept my gaze at the injured young wolf.
Delsiah frowned before looking at the youngster werewolf trembling in fear in front of us. Seeing as I have him looking after the injured wolf, I went back to fighting. Delsiah will figure it out soon. For now, I have to worry about what's more important, and that is to get my mate back to safety.
"Connor, how's everything? Are you guys out already?" I asked eagerly as I tried to keep my full focus on the fight.
"We found a few of Azrael's men roaming outside the sewer exit, so we decided to keep still until we have the guys take them down." He quickly replied.
I cursed mentally. Delsiah was right, Azrael's clever enough to know where they are.
"How's my mate? Is he okay? Tell me." I demanded even more eager to know about our mate's situation.
"He's currently passed out due to exhaustion, Alpha. But he's doing just fine." He replied calmly, causing my already extreme stressed self to calm down a little, knowing our mate's alright.
"Good. Let me know if anything happens and I'll have more men sent towards you." I told him after I gutted a pathetic hunter using my sharp claws.
"I will, Alpha." Was all he said before I closed back the link.
"Alpha, we may have a little problem," Delsiah said after he went to stand next to me.
"Great! what is it this time?" I stated with sarcasm lacing every word.
"I found something important from that wolf you injured earlier." He said, effectively gaining my attention.
"Where is he?" I asked after noticing it was no longer there.
"I had him retreated to the woods. I told him to find an ally warrior wolf for aid, under my command. The young fellow was quick at obeying, I tell you." He said as he paused. "Anyways, I found out that there's many more captive hidden inside the mansion's basement. He told me they're from Night Spring pack. The one we thought was massacred a few years ago. But turns out, they took most of them as captive and had the male ones work for Azrael in exchange for their family's safety." He said through mind-link this time.
A frown quickly showed on my face at the information.
"Are you saying some of these wolves we're fighting, and killed aren't rogues?" I questioned even when I already know the answer.
I felt sick knowing I might have killed innocent pack members of Night Spring who's only following Azrael's bidding.
"I'm afraid so, Alpha." Was what he said as he looked around the blood and corpse covered open field.
A loud howl suddenly interrupted our little exchange, causing both of us to turn towards the source. Without a doubt, it's those pack of wolves Chandler told me about that's finally decided to show up.
As huge numbers of werewolves trickled out of the woods, their supposed leader went straight towards us. But it didn't look like it was going to attack, so I decided to stand down but still kept my guard heightened.
The massive gray furred wolf stopped in front of us before shifting to human form. I quickly frowned after seeing his familiar face. I knew I've seen his face before. And since he happens to be a pack member of Crescent Moon, I wasn't surprised. I might have seen him when I was still a pup before he went and left.
"Matthias, it's nice to see you again," Delsiah said, acknowledging the guy.
Matthias bowed his head in respect to the elder.
"Likewise, elder Delsiah. It's been years indeed." He said as his gaze went to me.
"Arthur." He said in greeting.
That prompted me to shift back as well.
"Matthias," I spoke blandly.
I looked around the ongoing battle to see most of his men, along with mine and Linux's fighting them off, giving me a little time knowing this Matthias guy.
"Why are you here to help us?" Was the first thing I asked.
He gave a small sad smile.
"I decided it's the right time I face my son, Ashley, and let him know I'm alive." He replied.
Oh sh*t, I forgot Delsiah told me he's my mate's real, real father.
