                    Arthur's POV
It's been almost a week since Bethany arrived. And in that past week I was able to live life a little, away from my office, pack training, and other Alpha duties I had to fulfill. It was like the Moon Goddess knew I was starting to struggle especially with the added baggage of me longing for my mate. She knew that I needed some time to breathe, ease up the tension in my shoulders, and give me some kind of relief. And I was very thankful she answered my prayers. I don't know what could have happened to me if Bethany haven't decided to pay us a visit. Surely, I would've lost my mind. Or maybe worse.
Today, my little sister and I were both relaxing in the patio of this huge pack house. With refreshing drinks both in our hands and both of our bodies sprawled relaxingly on the lounge we had, I was surely feeling at peace.
"So Arty, what have you been up to when I was away?" Benny asked through her sunglasses and then took a sip of her drink.
I turned my gaze to her and smiled. "Nothing too eventful, actually. Just buried myself with pack duties and all those boring paperwork that doesn't seem to leave me the f*ck alone."
"Sounds fun." She replied with a chuckle. "And when are you going to learn to stop cussing?"
I pursed my mouth and gave her an apologizing smile. "Sorry. You know I'm always like this." I said. "It'll be hard on my side to adjust so please bare with me."
She sat up on her lounge seat and turned her attention to me. "Let's put it this way, what if your mate doesn't like cussing? Are you still going to keep that up or are willingly going to change?"
I knitted my eyebrows together in thought.
"You know I'll do anything for my mate, Benny. And if it means I had to train myself to stop being a potty mouth then I will gladly do it in a heart beat." I admitted without even a hint of hesitation.
She gave me a soft smile before she settled herself back on her seat.
"I will change myself for the better if it means I'll get to finally have the love of my life here with me." I spoke.
It may sound overly sappy but I wasn't lying one single bit. I meant everything I said and I will stand up to it. My mate is, and always will be my priority. My everything. My lifeline.
And I'd do what ever I can to make him happy. To do everything he wanted. Hell, I'd gladly be his slave if that's what it takes to make him happy. I'd be what ever he wants me to be.
Obviously, though he's not here with me yet, I already know how wrapped I am around his little finger.
"How is the search?" She spoke gently, snapping me out of my thoughts.
Knowing she's about to open a subject that is very sensitive to me, she decided to approach it as gentle as possible.
I took a sip on my drink before I voice my reply.
"Still no sign." I stated directly. "But I'm not loosing hope." I told her. Though the 'loosing hope' part, I wasn't even that sure if I believe it myself.
"You'll find him one day, Arty. I just know it. Or if not, then maybe it will be the other way around and he'll find you instead." She said with a smile.
I smiled back at her. Then slowly frowned after realizing what she had said.
"Him?" I asked.
She chuckled as she tilted her head slightly.
"We grew up together, Arty. And I already know even if you don't plan on telling me." She stated catching me off guard.
And then the feeling of dread and fear struck my guts like a tidal wave.
"But don't worry, I have no problem with you liking guys, and I don't care if you're gay. The important things is that, you're doing your job really, really well as the Alpha of the pack we both grew up in, and that's all that matters." She added after sensing my distress.
I nodded as I slowly let out a sigh of relief. My muscles slowly easing out as it goes back to normal.
"Thank you." I mumbled quietly.
"You're my big brother, Arthur. No matter what, I will always support you."
I smiled towards her gratefully. "Thank you again Benny. For everything. And for being there."
She smiled back even brighter than mine's. "Of course." She then laid her body back on the lounge and we both went quiet for a few minutes before she spoke again. "Can I ask you a question, Arty?"
I smirked. "You're already asking."
And I bet she rolled her eyes at that.
"I'm being serious here Mister. So will you answer me or not?" She said with a pout.
"Fine. Ask away."
Before she spoke, she bit her bottom lip in what looks like hesitation before I raised an eyebrow at her.
"What is it?" I pushed making her grimace slightly.
"Erm, So what if your mate doesn't happen to be a guy? How would you feel about it?" she asked sounding unsure and hesitant.
I pursed my lips together once again as I thought about her question.
What would I feel if my mate happens to be a girl, and not a guy? I asked myself as well as my wolf, Zion.
"I will still love her no matter what. Even if we are attracted to guys and well, we're both gay, obviously, if the Moon Goddess destined us to a girl, then I will still love her with all of my being either way." My wolf Zion answered in the back of my head causing for me to give him a proud smile.
I knew my wolf and I have the same traits, that's why it's easy to know what the other is thinking or feeling.
"Me too, Zion. No matter what, if our mate happens to be a girl then I will treat her as my queen. My lifeline and the very air that I breathe." I stated.
"That was real sappy, dude." Zion commented making me mentally roll my eyes at him.
"You were too earlier, so shut the f*ck up." I replied causing for him to let out a wolfy chuckle, which sounded like he's choking even though he's not.
"Alright. Guilty as charged."
And with that, I mentally shook my head at him.
"Hey Arthur, you still there?" I heard Benny called making me blink out of my thoughts.
"Sorry. I was just talking to Zion."
Her eye brows instantly rose. "What did he say?"
"Well he said, even if our mate happens to be a girl, he'll still love her with all his being."
She hummed and nodded her head. "But what about you?"
"The same goes with me, Benny. No matter what our mate's gender will be, I will love them unconditionally and treat them as my equal. My soulmate. And give them my everything." I answered sincerely which made Benny smile.
"That was beautiful, Arty." She commented making me chuckle.
"Right. Zion even said it was too sappy." I joked in which Zion agreed inside my head.
"It's not sappy. It's what you genuinely feel, which made everything you said really beautiful and meaningful."
I smiled. "Thanks Benny."
She shrugged. "And I bet whoever is mated to you will be very lucky. They will have a man that will do everything for them, and for their happiness. A selfless person who will set his happiness aside just for his loved one."
I looked down into my drink and swirled the liquor. "I think it's the other way around, Benny. Whoever my mate is, I'll be the luckiest guy alive."
Benny and I stayed on the porch for a while, until Mom came.
"I see you guys are having a relaxing day, does any of you happen to want anything from the kitchen? Like food, drinks, or snacks? Anything?" Mom offered.
"Oh Hi Mom, yeah I dragged Arthur to have a little relaxing day since his been locked up in his office facing his computer and office desk. But anyways, thank you for the offer though, I think we're both fine." Benny said and Mom smiled.
"That is true, your big brother does need a day to relax. He's been spending to much time in that quiet office doing Alpha stuff. I'm surprised he's still not glued to that office chair he have." Mom agreed.
"Thank you, Mom. That was greatly appreciated." I joked dismissively knowing where this subject is gonna take us.
"No. Kidding aside though, I just wanna make sure you're fine. You seemed like, well, you looked really dull this past month. So I guess today is the best time to ask if everything is okay." She stated using her motherly voice.
As I expected, she'll be worried.
Like, what is up with mothers though. It's like, they can feel what ever their children feels, whether it's good or bad. It seems like they have a built in sensors within them to know easily if there is something going on. And as for my current situation, I am not an exception of my own mother's sensors.
"I'm fine, Mom. Just a bit stressed out that's all." I said nonchalantly. "Being stressed is normal specially if you're an Alpha, and I had to do all those duties every single day." I reasoned out but Mom doesn't seem to buy it.
"So you're struggling then? With your Alpha position and duties?" She asked again and I mentally slapped myself across the face for saying what I just said.
"No Mom, it's not that." I sighed as I sat up. "I'm perfectly fine, okay. Nothing to worry about."
"Then what's wrong?" Mom pushed and I had to push the urge to groan right then and there.
"Nothing is wrong Mom...."
"So you're lonely? Is that it?" Mom interrupted making me freeze on the spot and didn't know what to reply back.
"Mom, I'm fine okay. Just drop it." I pleaded in which fell to deaf ears.
Mom placed a hand on my shoulder as she sat on the lounge I was sitting. "Son, I know you're also struggling of not having your mate. I can feel it. And if..."
"Mom please. I'm fine. Nothing is wrong. I'm perfectly okay. Just please, drop the subject." I told her as I stood up.
She sighed. "You can't keep disregarding this subject much longer, Arthur. I know you're getting weaker and weaker every single day. And even if you deny it yourself, the fact that to me it is very visible, won't change my mind that you are indeed struggling. Just...." Mom trailed off as she sighed. "Just try and open up to me, Son. I'm your mother. You can't take away the fact that I will always worry about my children. And as your mother, I will try my best to help, Or to at least alleviate your struggles of not having your mate yet." She added as her voice sounded pleading.
"I'll be fine Mom." I stated before I headed inside and made my way up to my apartment.
"Hey, Arty. Wait!" Benny called, but I pretended that I didn't hear her and proceeded on making my way to my apartment.
I speed walk towards the elevator with Bethany hot on my heels.
"Arthur, Wait. I am not trying to talk you into this subject, but I just wanna know what really is happening." She said sounding out of breath as she tried to catch up.
"How many times do I have to tell everyone that I'm fine?" I spoke feeling exhausted of everyone constantly trying to make me talk.
I pressed the button heading for the fourth floor as I waited the elevator door to swing open.
"You know damn well that that's not what I'm trying to mean, Arthur. I wanna know what is going on with you." She asked as she stopped behind me.
When the elevator door opens, I walked in and wait for it to close and take me to the desired floor. But like expected, Benny followed with her eyes trained solely on me.
I sighed. "If you think I'm going to talk to you about it, you're dead wrong." I looked down at her. "Just drop it Benny. Don't you understand that I don't want to talk about it?"
"But why though? Why don't you want to talk about it?"
The elevator dings telling us we arrived on the floor, then the door opened and I immediately walked out and headed my way to my apartment door.
"Hey, you said you're mature enough to face this kinds of situation? Then why not act like one now?" She pushed which reminded me a lot of Mom.
She really is a carbon copy of my Mom. The only difference is that, she had brown hair while Mom had blond.
I kept walking towards my apartment, avoiding Bethany's questions.
But when I was only a few meters away from my apartment door, I froze as I heard noises inside. My apartment is locked and the only way to unlock it is by my finger print or by my key. In which I have with me all the time.
I heightened my hearing capability as I listened on who or what was inside my room.
"Arthur. You can't avoid me all day, you know. I will always bug you until you'll finally spill the beans...."
"Shhhhhh." I shushed her.
"Excuse me? Did you just shush me? Well let me tell you Mister...."
"Shhhhhhhhhh." I turned to her as I placed a finger on my lips.
"What?" She asked unknowingly of what was happening.
"Shhhhhhhhhh."
This time, she frowned. "What is it?" She said in a hushed voice.
"Someone's inside my apartment. And I think this someone is searching something on my files." I told her which instantly made her eyes go wide.
She didn't reply, only listened intently trying to get a glimpse of what I'm talking about.
"I can't hear anything." She said lowly.
"Of course you can't. You didn't train your hearing capabilities well because you went to college." I told her as I stepped closer to my apartment door. Then slowly, I placed my pointer finger on the finger print scanner to unlock the door.
"Stay behind me." I told Benny in which she silently complied.
And then in one swift move, I opened the door revealing a person maybe close to 6' in height standing behind my desk and scanning the files I had in the drawer.
Startled, the person looked up, showing us nothing but covered face that only gave an opening for their eyes. But when my eyes landed on his, I realized this person isn't a normal person, but a rouge. Bright red eyes which only belongs to the creatures I loathe the most.
Benny gasped behind me.
"Who are you? And how did you get inside my territory?" I asked as I advanced closer to the lone rouge trying to steal some important files from me.
When the rouge didn't utter a reply, I quickly sent a message through the pack link, alerting everyone including my Beta, Second in command, and Head Warrior.
I took another step in which the rouge took one step back.
And in a blink of an eye, he suddenly took of with a file in hand. The rouge changed to it's filthy wolf form and jumped out of my window. I followed and shifted into my black furred wolf chasing the rouge so we can interrogate it.
"Brandon, Chandler, the rouge is heading towards the eastern border, take a group with you and prepare an ambush. I will lead this filthy wolf right into your path." I told them using the pack link.
"Yes Alpha." Both of them responded back
"Alpha, I have also alerted all the Border guards and told them to remain observant just in case this lone rouge had back up." Lukas said.
"Good. I'm behind the rouge's tail at the moment. I'm leading him towards Brandon and Chandler who prepared an ambush on our eastern border."
"Copy that Alpha. I will remain on guard just in case you guys needs back up." he said
"We'll be fine. Just make sure everyone is inside the pack house. And keep a tight security around it. I don't want any wolf getting inside if ever an attack broke off."
"Yes Alpha." He replied before closing the mind link.
I kept the chase until I was about to get a good bite of his tail. But before I could close my jaw on his tail, the rouge made a hard left making me crash to the ground. But of course with my agility and endurance, I stood back up and keep up with the chase. I lounge at him so he turned hard right again, leading him to Brandon and Chandler's awaiting ambush. And thankfully it worked. The rouge made a hard right towards the eastern border which I originally planned to take this f*cker down.
"We're close, guys. Be ready." I warned the guys as we neared the border.
"Heard that Alpha." Brandon replied.
I quicken my pace in which the rouge also picked up and ran faster. I dodged fallen branches and trunks as I kept the rouge in sight. But when I dodged and avoided a huge fallen tree trunk, the rouge suddenly went missing as my paws landed back on the damp ground.
"What the f*ck? Where did that rouge go?" Zion asked with a growl.
I looked around and heightened my senses back up again but found none.
"I don't know." I replied.
"How did that rouge suddenly vanish to thin air in approximately less than two seconds?" Zion growled again.
"I don't know Zion." I snapped as I continued running towards the border. When I entered a clearing, I saw Brandon, Chandler, and a few pack warriors waiting there, ready to attack.
"Alpha?" Brandon asked as he looked around, clearly searching for the rouge I was chasing a couple of seconds ago.
I shifted to my human form. "That's the problem. The rouge suddenly vanished to thin air."
He frowned. "How did that happen? you said the rouge was right in front of you as you chase it heading here?"
"It was right in front of me. But after I dodged a fallen tree trunk, I suddenly lost it. I don't know how it happened but I have a feeling this isn't good."
"What do you want us to do Alpha?" Chandler spoke.
I looked at the guys standing behind them. "Check the whole territory. This rouge might be hiding somewhere. And make sure the security in all our borders are tight. We're on lock down until further notice. Even though it was only one rouge who intruded our lands and stole some important pack files, we can't be sure that everything is back to normal."
"Yes Alpha." They all said in unison.
"Brandon, lead the search for this pesky pest and report everything to me. Even the littlest things, I want to know." I instructed Brandon who nodded in response.
"And as for you Chand. I want you to make sure our stations in every border is well organized and always ready if ever an attack comes. I want the guards who are on stand to report every once in a while just to make sure no rouges are in sight. Am I clear?" I instructed using my Alpha voice.
"Yes Alpha." He nodded as he followed orders.
"And both of you, make sure you have three to five pack warriors with you. I don't want anyone in my pack to get hurt. So be more careful." I added and they both nodded.
"We will Alpha. I will divide the warriors we have here before we go and do as what you ordered." He stated.
"Good. Now go." I said dismissing them.
I opened the mind link and contacted Lukas.
"How is everything doing down there Lukas?" I asked.
"Everything is quiet Alpha. Have you and the guys captured the rouge yet?" He asked.
"No. For some odd reasons, the rouge suddenly vanish even I was literally right on it's tail."
"How did that happen?" He asked clearly confused.
"I don't know Lukas. But we'll know soon for sure."
"Well what do you want us to do for now Alpha?" He asked. I shifted back into my wolf and sprinted back to the pack house.
"Just stay there, I'm coming back." I told him as I continued to sprint through the woods.
"Heard that Alpha. We'll be here."
A few short minutes later, I stepped out of the woods and headed straight for the pack house that was being surrounded by pack warriors.
After I shifted, I put on the clothes that a warrior handed me. Then my Dad came out of the mansion and walked towards me.
"What happened out there Arthur? What was that rouge doing in your apartment?" He asked as he stopped in front of me.
"The rouge managed to escape Dad. I don't know how but it just vanished." I told him as I looked around trying to find if there is any damage anywhere.
"Bethany told me this rouge was searching something in your desk drawer? Did it took something?" He asked as we both walked inside the house.
"I don't know what the rouge was searching for but I'm quite sure he manage to steal one from us."
We stood in the empty hallway as Dad keep asking me questions.
"Do you know what it was?" He asked with a prominent frown on his face.
"No. But there's only one way to find out." I told him as I turned my gaze to the elevator.
We entered the elevator and went to my apartment. After the door opened, I walked ahead of dad and went straight to my personal quarters. After opening the door, we were greeted with my office that had some files scattered on the floor.
We started picking up some papers and tried rearranging them so then we'll know what file is missing.
"These are pack reports. Why would a rouge take something like that?" Dad spoke as he read a paper.
"No Dad, it's not only pack report that was placed inside that drawer. There's also pack alliance request, Pack expenses, and a file that consist of our past pack members that either left, went missing, or dead." I stated then suddenly, I realized what was missing.
I scanned the papers that was slightly arranged on my desk and searched for that specific file. When I didn't find it, I turned to Dad.
"I know what's missing."
"Why would a rouge put interest into an old list of members of this pack?" Benny asked unammused.
At this moment, Elder Magnus decided to join us in the family living room to discuss this matter.
"I don't know love." Dad answered.
"After examining what you all have said about this lone rouge, here is my conclusion." He paused as he looked at each of us in the eyes. "As what Alpha Arthur have described, this rouge had a bright red eyes, in which is highly abnormal even to a rouge. The usual rouge we encounter have dark red eyes, not bright red eyes. Which led me to believe that this rouge who broke into the Alpha's quarters is being controlled, or possessed."
I sat up straighter. "What do you mean controlled or possessed?" I asked.
"Well Alpha, this rouge may be controlled by someone who had the capable of doing so. And I guess by now everyone would have known that it's not the rouge who had interest of this old list of pack members but the...."
"The one who's controlling the rouge." I interrupted finishing the elder's sentence.
"Okay. If this rouge is being controlled by someone? What is so important to that list that he wanted to steal it?" Bethany chirped in again, voicing her thoughts out.
"That is a good question Ms. Bethany. But I'm afraid the only answer I can give you is that, there might be someone important on that list that this mysterious controlling being wanted it in his hands. If you wish to know more about it then all I can advise you is to consult Delsiah or Erzah. But we all know that both of them are in the High Counsel gathering in Madrid."
"I didn't mean for this question to sound rude but, why aren't you there if you're one of the elders?" I asked focusing my attention on the elder.
"Well I am an elder, that is true. But when it comes to rank, I'm what you can call a prodigy. Delsiah and Ezrah are both my teacher when it comes to enhancing my capabilities and power. And as for now, my knowledge of things is still limited just like normal werewolves are." He explained making us all nod.
"So what is your power then? If you don't mind me asking." Benny asked politely knowing that even if Magnus calls himself as a prodigy, we still have to give him respect.
"My power is telekinesis. But as I've said, it still needs improvement." He admitted.
"That's so cool. But how old are you though?" Benny added again.
"I'm 32 years old. I am older than Delsiah but a lot younger than Ezrah."
"So do you know when will the two other elders come back?" I asked eager to know what this mystery being wants and why did it find interest in that old list of pack members.
"If I am being accurate, They will be here in 12 days. But if you really need one of the elders to come here, I can call them using mind link." He said and all our eyebrows instantly rise.
"You can use mind link even if Delsiah is thousand miles away?" Benny asked in wonderment.
He gave us a single nod before replying. "Yes. One of the things I learned to master is to control the mind link. Even if you're located in the most remote places on earth, I will still able to track you down."
"Woah. I thought that's only limited to contacting your fellow elders?" Benny said curiously.
Magnus smiled. "No. I can contact anyone as long as they reside here on earth."
Benny gasped. "That is so cool."
I shook my head. "So can you call Delsiah and tell him we need him here right now?" I asked and Magnus nodded his head.
"Of course Alpha. Just give me a moment to talk to him." He said and I gave him a grateful smile.
"Go ahead. Take your time."
And with that, he closed his eyes and focused on contacting his fellow elder. I, along with Bethany, Mom, and Dad, we waited patiently.
Once Magnus, opened his eyes back up, he smiled.
"He'll be here in a second." he said.
"A second? But Madrid is like a few hours away by plane ride? How come he'll get her in just a second?" Benny questioned with her brows knitted together.
Magnus let out a small chuckle, clearly amazed with my sister's curiosity. "He can teleport." Is all he said.
"Oh wow. That is super cool. I'm digging it." Benny said sheepishly.
Then suddenly, we saw someone standing near the door which turned all our heads. And there, Delsiah was standing wearing a normal white fitted shirt and fit jeans, coupled with a converse.
"Oh wow." Benny breathed out in shock.
"So, my fellow elder here told me you guys needed my help? What is it?" Delsiah asked.
Magnus smiled. "Something about a possessed rouge wolf to be precise, Delsiah."
Delsiah then hummed with a tilt of his head. "Interesting." He spoke lowly as he walked towards us.
He went straight next to Magnus and sat down. "How was everything when me and Ezrah are gone?" He asked as he looked at me.
"Everything was peaceful before this incident happened." I replied firmly and he nodded.
He hummed once again and stared at me for a few seconds before he cleared his throat to speak.
"That was rude of me, I'm sorry." He spoke as he blinked his eyes rapidly.
"What are you saying sorry for?" I asked with knitted brows.
"I kind of went inside your mind without asking permission, I'm sorry. But uh, I promise I didn't go deeper than I should and I just recalled your memory from earlier." He stated with an apologetic smile.
I shook my head. "It's fine Delsiah." I paused as I gave him a reassuring smile. "So I'm guessing you already know what happened after reading my mind?"
He nodded. "Every detail that I need from your perspective." He said.
"And what do you think?" I asked.
"I think what Magnus implied is right. This rouge wolf might be possessed with a being more powerful than the elders. And I think this is a serious situation. If that wolf took the old listing of past pack members then clearly, this being is interested about someone on that list." He spoke.
"Do you know who is this person that this powerful being is interested to?" Dad asked and Delsiah's attention averted towards him.
The elder sighed. "I had a vision about this before and I thought it was just something I didn't have to worry about. But since, now it is starting to happen, I believe this has something to do with the Moon Goddess herself."
"Why does the Moon Goddess have to do with this?" Bethany chirped in gaining Delsiah's attention.
"I cannot go into full details for now since I, myself isn't quite sure if this is in fact the vision I had. But just to give you an answer and to quench you curiosity, I think it is best to give out small details." He stated as he paused and looked at all of us in the eyes. "17 years ago, during the Super Blue Blood Moon phenomenon that only happens every 150 years or so, the Moon Goddess came down to Earth for some unknown and unclear reasons." Delsiah spoke.
"And then what happened next?" Benny pushed.
Delsiah turned his eyes towards me with his own orbs showing off a spark of excitement and gratefulness.
"And legend says that during the Moon Goddess's stay, she was able to conceive a child." He breathed out with his eyes locked on to mine's.
"And what does that have to do with the rouge exactly?" Dad then asked out of confusion.
Delsiah smiled to all of us. "Soon I will explain everything once the vision takes place and follows the path it is suppose to go. But for now, that's the only information I can give you."
"I'm still confused." I spoke causing for Delsiah to look at me and smile.
"You'll understand everything soon. You'll see." Is his reply before telling everyone if they can leave the room except Dad.
When I furrowed my brows at him for not letting me stay and hear what he has to say to Dad, the elder smiled at me again.
"I have a few questions to ask the former Alpha, Arthur. Since he's been here during the times those past members were still around, it's best and logical that I ask him. But like I said, soon you'll see what this all means. Just be patient." Delsiah spoke with wisdom lacing his soft voice.
"How will I be patient if my pack's safety is at risk?" I asked in mild annoyance.
"The pack is in great hands. And I can assure you, this is the last time that, that rouge makes an appearance." He reasoned out which didn't really help me calm down.
"I hope what you said is true Delsiah. I just want my family to be safe, just like any Alpha would do." I told him and he nodded in understanding.
"I know Arthur. I know."
And with that, I left the room with Delsiah and Dad behind. After closing the door behind me, I took a deep breath and headed towards the kitchen to fetch something to drink.
