                    **Ashley's POV**
Arthur's question kept running like a broken record inside my head.
"I saw you heal Jordan earlier, why can't you do the same with Connor?"
Honestly, I don't know what happened. I kind of just blanked out when I saw Azrael charging towards Arthur at an unimaginable speed and did what I did without even realizing what I was actually doing. I just reacted on impulse, I guess. And that somehow resulted me to use a power I still wasn't aware of.
Now that I really think about it, I know nothing, like absolutely nothing, about myself and my very own abilities. To make matters worse, I have no one to go to whom I can ask about what I am and what I can do. Even Delsiah doesn't have any single clue of what my powers could be. All he knows is that I'm a demigod and that I may be harnessing the same powers my own mother has. But then, I don't personally know my REAL mother since she pretty much didn't raise me as a child. So with that said, I don't know what her powers are.
That just leaves me with one option, discovering my powers on my own.
In just a short period of time, I saw two sides of myself. Both good and bad. How I was able to inflict harm on some people with brute and inhumane force. And what good I was also able to give by healing Jordan just a few moments ago.
Does that mean I can balance both good and bad? I still don't understand.
"Hey," Arthur called, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Stop overthinking about it, okay. I'm sure we'll figure it out soon." He said with a charming smile.
I sighed.
"It's just that, I want to know my powers so I'll be able to control it," I told him as I played with my fingers.
We're still inside the forest and less than an hour from now will be midnight. I know Azrael won't give up until he gets what he wants. I may have injured him earlier but I'm sure he's recovered from it by now. For all I know, he's probably already planning how he's going to get me.
Instead of letting myself overthink, I should focus and keep vigilant.
This isn't the best time to be distracted by my own thoughts. I should be thinking about what our strategy's going to be on how we're taking him down. But then again, I'm not the best at coming up with a battle plan. That's Arthur's expertise, not mine.
"So what's our plan going to be?" Arthur asked after a full minute of us in silence.
I guess I spoke too soon.
"I uhm... honestly, I don't know. I guess I was too engrossed with adrenaline earlier that I just wanted to go head-on without as much as a plan." I admitted with a small frown.
I'm a total idiot for thinking I could just face a freaking demon empty-handed.
"Okay, well, let's come up with a plan while we still have little time." He suggested, making me nod my head understandingly.
He paused momentarily before his face contorted into a look of concentration.
"While I was on the battlefield not too long ago, Delsiah and I saw Azrael at the rooftop of his mansion. What he was doing there? We don't really know for sure. But I do think that's where he's at." He said as he looked at me.
I nodded. Understanding what he just told me.
"I also had this weird feeling that that's where he was supposed to take me when the full moon is at its peak. I can't explain it but my wolf somehow agrees with me." I admitted.
"So, what do you think we should do?" Arthur asked while looking at me expectantly.
I didn't answer him right away as I racked my brain with ideas. But no matter how hard I try to come up with a plan, I always end up failing. I couldn't find any other option other than facing Azrael head-on which is way too risky.
"I, uhm..." I was about to suggest an idea when suddenly, out of nowhere, I felt like I was electrocuted. Causing me to gasp and fall on my knees. But the weird thing was, I didn't feel pain whatsoever. I was just caught off guard by it.
"What the..." Arthur exclaimed. "Babe, are you okay?" He asked hastily after he knelt in front of me, checking if I was in fact alright.
I was about to answer him when another strong surge of energy coursed through me. I once again gasped loudly as the alien feeling continued to assault my body. But just like the first time it happened, I didn't feel any pain at all. It was just a weird sensation that I wasn't used to.
Arthur stayed kneeling there as he watched me with a shocked expression on his face.
"W-What's going on?" I gasped out.
He didn't answer me at first. He was still utterly perplexed looking at me to even hear I said anything.
"Arthur, w-what's happening?" I questioned worriedly.
He blinked before opening his mouth to respond.
"Your eyes." Was all he said.
"What's wrong with my eyes?" I asked panic-stricken. I didn't know what he was trying to mean when he said 'your eyes', because as far as my vision goes, they were fine. I could see very clearly.
Actually, now that I focused on my vision, I do think I can see way too clear. Especially considering it's almost in the middle of the night. My surrounding was surprisingly bright like it's not night time.
"Your eyes, they're glowing again," Arthur stated after a minute of just staring at me. "Except this time, they're light bluish and not white."
"What?" I exclaimed.
Arthur then looked at me all over, checking if there's anything weird going on in other parts of my body.
"Ash, look at your arms and hands." He said, making me frown but complied nonetheless.
I raised my hand up to my face to see what he was talking about. There I saw how my veins seemed to faintly glow and my blood seemingly like lava as it glowed a faint red. My gaze traveled from my arms up to my shoulder then down to my exposed chest. It was the same, but much fainter compared to my hands and arms.
"I don't know what's going on?" I asked feeling a little helpless.
Arthur stood to his full height before walking towards me.
"I don't know either." He spoke before placing a hand on my shoulder.
After his hand touched my skin, it was as if it burned him, causing him to retract his hand quickly.
Gasping, I stepped back a little. Scared I'd hurt him even more.
"It's alright. I'm okay." He reassured but I still settled with having enough space where I won't touch anything.
"What's going on with me, Arthur?" I asked pleadingly as I felt my eyes sting with tears.
He shook his head, not knowing the answer.
"I don't know, babe." He said. "But you're quite literally burning." He added as he glanced at both my arms and hands.
And as if on cue, all of a sudden small cracks started to appear on the skin on my arms and shoulders. Small flakes of flame oozed out of the small crack along with tiny bits of electricity as it travels from one place to another. It was mesmerizing if I say so myself, but at the same time, terrifying. I say mesmerizing because I didn't feel a single ounce of pain as it happens, and terrifying because it was my own body who was doing it.
"Does it hurt?" Arthur asked in concern, but my eyes are still focused on my hands.
I softly shook my head. My eyes still occupied.
"How are you doing it?" Arthur questioned once again as he stepped closer to me. Inspecting my hands as well.
"I-I don't know honestly. It just... happened." I admitted.
"Do you think the full moon had something to do with it?" He asked, looking up into the sky that was covered by the leaves of the trees we're under. Effectively covering our view of the moon.
I met my gaze with him after a while of me staring in amazement at my hands.
"I think so, now that you mentioned it," I said admittedly. "I mean, all of these just started appearing when the full moon showed up," I stated. "First my wolf, then earlier when I injured Azrael, and then now with this," I said showing him the current state I was in.
Arthur hummed in thought with a small frown on his face.
"Maybe this is the reason why Azrael is so eager to have you? Because your powers are at its most active state during this full moon." He said thoughtfully.
"And since you haven't discovered what your powers are, he's taking advantage of it because it left you vulnerable." A familiar voice spoke behind me, causing me to turn around and see who it was.
"Delsiah." I breathed out.
His eyes then caught sight of the current state I was in and his brows instantly went up in curiosity.
"But seeing you now, I'm guessing you've discovered some of them?" He then questioned.
"Some? You mean this isn't it?" I asked in shock.
How many powers do I freaking possess? I questioned myself.
"Ash, I've told you multiple times, you are part God. Your very own Mother is the Moon Goddess herself who possesses great and unimaginable powers, which means you could be possessing the same too. It's only a matter of discovering them." He stated as he walked closer to me, inspecting my arms and shoulders that was still showing the same display of what could be my power.
Delsiah circled me as his eyes locked on to my arms.
"Lightning and Fire." He mumbled interestingly.
"What?" I questioned with a small frown.
"Base on what's coming out of your arm, I'm assuming you have the power of Lightning and Fire." He spoke, still not meeting my gaze.
He then went to try and touch my skin but Arthur stopped him.
"I wouldn't try doing that," Arthur said as he held Delsiah's arm, stopping him in his tracks.
"Why?" The elder then asked.
"Well, if you don't want yourself to get burnt, I suggest you not to do it," Arthur answered, but Delsiah was still waiting for further explanation.
"Arthur tried to touch my shoulder earlier and it burned him," I answered this time.
Delsiah then frowned before walking closer to me. He then went to tap my arm with his pointer finger to see if we were actually telling the truth.
He hummed before meeting my eyes.
"Well, you are literally burning, alright." He stated. "And your eyes are glowing a bluish glow too." He added.
"That was what Arthur told me earlier too," I said. "Do you know what this means, Delsiah?"
He only shook his head. "In all my years that I've seen extraordinary things, this is the first time I've encountered your case." He admitted, causing me to sigh.
"Does my real mother, the Moon Goddess, come down to Earth often?" I asked once again.
He shook his head again. "No, the only time she came down here on Earth was when you were conceived." He paused. "At least that's what I know." He added.
"What do you mean?"
He sighed. "The Moon Goddess is immortal. For all we know, she's been down here multiple times in the past already." Delsiah said, catching my attention at what he meant.
"Are you saying she might have other children other than Ash?" Arthur asked the question that was previously in my head.
"I'm not saying she does, but there could be a possibility." He said. "She's been around way longer than humans. And since Earth was born billions of years ago, she could be the same."
I shook my head. "Can we not compare my mother from that horny Greek God! I'm sure she's not like them." I defended, still couldn't comprehend the thought that I may have siblings from my Godly mother.
"I'm not saying that she is, Ash," Delsiah said defensively. "But a couple billion years is a long time. We don't know if she came here the moment the human and supernatural species appeared millions of years ago or when modern humans emerged from the face of the Earth about two hundred thousand years ago. The chances of her coming here from all those years and having an off-spring is high, Ash, and you can't deny that."
Arthur probably saw how I was uncomfortable with the subject that's why he decided to butt-in.
"Let's talk about this some other time, shall we? For now, we have a more important matter to put our attention to at the moment." He said, making me look at him gratefully.
The subject of my Mom having other kids doesn't fit well with me for some reason.
"Very well," Delsiah said, letting go of the subject for the time being.
"Anyway, before you came, Ash and I were trying to come up with a plan on how we're taking Azrael down," Arthur stated.
"And how is it going so far?" The elder asked, looking expectant.
"The keyword being; trying," I spoke with a small smile.
Delsiah let out another sigh for what felt like the hundredth time.
"I don't mean to be pessimistic or anything, but it's going to be no use, no matter how concrete the plan is," He said, causing both Arthur and me to frown. "Remember when we were on the move to rescuing you?" He asked me which I nodded. "We had a very solid plan, but for some reason, Azrael still figured it out. He had his ways of figuring things out so it'll work well on his favor.
"So, how do you think should we go at him then? We can't just attack without a plan." I asked while looking confused.
"I mean, I have to admit, it was very clever of him to find out what our plan was earlier," Arthur stated.
"What are we going to do then?" I asked, looking between Arthur and Delsiah for answers.
"I know this may sound crazy but I think it's best to go at him with little to no plan. That way he doesn't know what to expect." Delsiah said.
"And what does that 'little to no plan' means?" I enquired.
Delsiah called me over to him in which I complied.
"Can't really say what I think out loud. At this moment, you can't trust these woods." He said before he placed his thumb between my eyebrows and his pointer finger on my temple. "This is only temporary since Arthur still haven't marked you yet." He added.
"What are you doing?" I asked in confusion.
"Can you hear me?" Delsiah said inside my head. Letting me know he granted me access to their mind link.
I nodded. "Yeah, I can hear you," I responded with a smile.
"Can you hear him, Arthur?" He turned to my mate who also nodded his head.
"Yes, I can hear him." He said with a smile towards me.
Now that I think about it, this is the first time we've heard each other's voices through the mind link.
"Good. Now, where was I? Oh yeah, as I was saying, we should target him at his weakest points." He answered. "Now that he's in his true form, I figured it's his wings that is his weak spot. So is his chest."
"How'd you know?"
"If you take out a bird's wings, what will happen to the bird?" He questioned.
"Vulnerable." I breathed out.
"Exactly." He said. "It may not hurt him that much but it'll give us the advantage of taking him down much easier than when he had his wings."
Arthur and I looked at each other before we both nodded our heads in silent agreement.
"Okay, hold on. Before anything else, I have one question." Arthur intervened.
The elder turned to him. "What is it?"
"How was he able to fly when he was still in Jordan's body? Jordan doesn't have wings."
"Like I've said before, Jordan was only Azrael's puppet. He used him mainly to be his first layer of defense. And considering that Jordan was a Beta, he was very well built and strong which Azrael needed for a body he can use. As for the flying aspect, it was already Azrael's power to fly. And he was able to use it, utilize it to his liking even when he's inside Jordan's body." He said before turning to look at me. "He knew well how to control his own powers." He added, which I couldn't help but think he's also telling me the same thing.
"Now, show me what you can do, Ash." He told me with a stern look on his face.
I immediately frowned.
"What?"
"Show me what you can do." He repeated.
I looked at him like he's lost his mind.
"How am I going to do that when I, myself, don't even know what I can do," I told him.
"All those doubts are just in your head, Ash," He said. "The answer's literally in your very hands. Giving you an insight into what you can do."
I pulled my hand up and saw they were still in the same state as earlier. It never disappeared.
"Just give it a thought, Ash." He told me. "Give yourself one specific thought where you imagine yourself doing." He instructed.
"Like what exactly?" I asked still confused.
"To put myself as an example. I use my abilities when I wanted them to. On my command. So, I'm pretty sure it's the same with you." He said. "You just have to know which specific ability of yours to command before actually thinking of a command."
I sighed but nodded nonetheless.
I closed my eyes in hopes of getting myself to focus. It was hard, considering the situation I was in, but I still pushed myself.
When I was sure enough I had myself in complete control, I then thought of fire before coming up with a thought in my head telling me to create fire.
I don't know if it's working but I still tried. I willed myself to think harder as I kept pushing myself harder.
"Holy sh*t." I heard my mate blurt out, causing me to open my eyes to see what was going on.
Once my gaze was set on to Arthur and Delsiah, I gave them a questioning look.
Arthur didn't say anything as he kept his stare on me. Whereas Delsiah gave me a look telling me to look at my hands, in which I did.
And boy was I surprised.
In front of my very eyes was both my hands engulfed in flames. And instead of it burning me to a crisp, I didn't feel any pain.
"That's because you're the one doing it," Delsiah said through the mind link.
I let out a shaky breath as I stared at it in amazement.
I am the one doing it. Holy Pineapples.
"Now, can you try to inflict it on something?" Delsiah spoke to me once again.
"What?" I looked up at him still the same look of shock visible on my face.
"Now that you're able to make fire with your own hands quite literally, why don't you try and inflict it on something like a tree for example." He instructed in which I once again nodded my head.
I'm just gonna consider this as a mini-training session.
Staring at my hands, I turned my attention towards a nearby tree, sitting peacefully while minding its own business. And now I'm gonna throw fire at it.
'Sorry tree.' I mumbled in my head.
And with that, with a careful look on my face, I flicked my right hand towards the tree, causing it to catch on fire.
I gasped out loud with my eyes open wide.
Oh my goodness, I just did that.
I did it a couple more times just to see if it was, in fact, me who did such thing, causing the tree to be completely engulfed in blazing flame coming from my very hands. No longer feeling sorry for the poor tree as I was also engulfed in utter amazement.
This is so awesome but at the same time weird.
"Okay Ash, I think that's enough," Delsiah said loud enough as he went to step back along with Arthur while both staring at the blazing tree in front of them. "You don't want the whole forest to catch on fire, so that's more than enough for an example."
I turned my gaze to him with question and in alarm.
How am I suppose to put out that fire I just created?
"Uhm, how am I suppose to stop that fire?" I asked him as I turned to look at the still-burning tree, now in horror instead of amazement.
Both Arthur and Delsiah looked at me like I've gone mad.
"Think of it stopping maybe?" The elder said in mild panic as the fire started to spread.
I tried doing that as I pointed my palms towards the fire, but instead of aiding on stopping the fire, it only got worse as more flame burst out of my hands.
Oh my goodness, this is a disaster.
"Wait, babe, you're making it worse," Arthur called.
"I'm aware," I yelled as I tried to focus myself and thought of the fire stopping, but it was no use.
"Try flicking your hand or something," Delsiah instructed.
I followed what he said but instead of it working, things only got worse when lightning bolt course out of my palms and went straight towards the already burning tree, causing some bits and pieces of the trunk to go flying in the air from the force of the strike. And because of that, the fire was spreading at a more rapid pace.
"Babe!" Arthur exclaimed in horror.
"I swear I didn't mean to. I didn't even think of lightning to come out of my hand. I don't know how that happened." I reasoned as we continued to back away from the scene.
"Ash, you have to stop this fire or else it's gonna spread to human-populated areas as well as some pack lands," Delsiah said.
"Can't you see I'm trying here! But none of my attempts is working." I exclaimed pointing out the obvious.
"Let him focus, Delsiah. Just stop stressing him out further." Arthur said, coming to my aid.
And with that, Delsiah finally decided to shut his mouth and let me think in peace on how to stop this fire I had started.
I could almost feel myself hyperventilating as I kept my gaze on the continuously growing fire in front of us.
>Calm down, Ash. It won't help that you're freaking out.< My wolf, Ariah, consoled.
>How am I not gonna freak out when it was me that caused this! As you can see, this is the perfect time to freak out< I yelled at him.
>Just breathe, okay. Then try pointing both your palms towards the fire, just like you did earlier. But this time, think as if you're taking the fire back instead of inflicting it.< Ariah told me calmly, which I took a huge amount of air to calm my own nerves down.
>Okay.< I replied shakily.
Following what my wolf said, I pointed both palms at the raging fire and focused my mind on one task, stopping the fire.
I commanded myself to take the fire back and slowly, I felt a warm breeze to pass through my fingers. Opening my eyes, there I saw the fire as it returned back to where it came from which is my hands. A powerful vortex formed as it sucked the raging flame back into me. And once everything was being cleared, I closed both my hands prompting the vortex that formed to stop.
Breathing heavily, I stared at the aftermath of what just happened. Trees were almost burnt to ashes while some were just partially damaged.
"At least now we know you can control fire for sure," Delsiah commented after some time.
I turned to him still panic-stricken.
"We're gonna have to work on your powers more, Ash." He added.
I nodded. "Y-Yeah, I think so t-too," I said shakily.
"But let's look on the bright side, you may have caused this but at least you know there's something you can defend yourself against Azrael." He said in hopes of making things look positive. "Just a little more practice and you'll be able to control them at will."
All I could do was nod. I just hope that was the case. But by the looks of it, it seems like its gonna take me a lot of time to get them under control seeing as my powers could be elemental as what Azrael put it. For now, I just hope I won't put anyone on fire or strike anyone with lightning other than Azrael himself.
This is going to be hard, but for everyone's sake and safety, I'm willing to go through such immense training just to get these powers in me tamed. And for the benefit of protecting everyone dear to me, I have to master what I'm capable of. That way, if anyone even dares to try and hurt my loved ones, they'll know they're going to be dealing with me.
