Cloud - Chapter 25: Chapter 25

"This is completely stupid," Cloud stated in boredom while looking at me in exasperation. "I shouldn't be here, we shouldn't be here. We have better things to do."
I rolled my eyes and slammed my locker shut. I let out a sigh and gave him a look of determination. "Say whatever you want but I'm not going back home with you. I missed enough days of school already. Time for me to come back."
Not letting him time to reply anything, I walked away but of course, I knew that he was not going to let it go so easily.
"Being here is dangerous," he said, walking closer to me and he whispered under his breath so that only me could hear. "And we still have some training to do concerning your powers."
"I know all of that," I informed him. "But I need normality once in awhile, Cloud. Being among other teenagers and going to high school is normality."
"I thought that you gave up on being normal already," he said and that really did something to me. I stopped in front of the door of my first class of the day and looked back at him.
"I accepted the fact that I'm not normal but can't you let me pretend that I'm a normal teenage boy who has normal teenager problems for one single day?" I snapped at him and he was taken by surprise. I waited a few seconds for him to answer but he didn't, so I took that as my clue to get in the classroom.
I was met with an empty room once in but I was not surprised. About thirsty minutes remained before school actually start so I guessed that everyone else would come later. I made my way to the back of the class and sat by the window. I let my bag fall to the ground as Cloud came to sit beside me.
"No need to look so angry," I heard him say and I huffed.
"I'm not angry," I protested. "I just have enough of you treating me like a kid who needs to be protected every second of the day."
"Would you look at that? You suddenly got powers and now you think that you can defend yourself alone," he said and I could not believe it.
"I never asked you for anything," I exclaimed at him and I showed him the door. "If you are going to act like an ass, please, go back to your house and leave me alone. I never asked you to follow me in the first place."
"Someone needed to look after you and I was the only free for the task," he said and I glared at him.
"I wish it was someone else," I told him and he did not seem to be affected at all.
"I know," he smirked. "But Calum just reunited with his brother. Nova is busy, Rain and Frederick are also busy. That leaves me. Sorry but you're stuck with me, darling."
"I am not your damn darling," I protested angrily and he simply chuckled.
"What got into you?" he asked me. "You have been like, I don't know, annoyed since yesterday. I thought that you would be relax but it seems like if you have a stick up your ass."
I gave him a glare to which he replied with a laugh.
He was right though.
I was surprised when I saw that Calum had returned and in the heat of the moment, I got hope. I hoped for one brief instant that things were going to get better. But then, when Nova came and touched me, I saw it.
I saw him.
Another perfect copy of myself.
He was in a room with barely no light but I noticed that the room was a mess. He was sitting at a table, a pack of cards in hands. I did not know what he was doing but it seemed like he was playing. Then he stopped suddenly and looked up. At that moment, I could see his face perfectly and somehow, it felt like if he saw me. I knew that it couldn't be but I felt his eyes pierce right through me.
Though, Nova had backed away from me then and the connection that we had made broke. I knew that she saw the same thing as me. It surprised me that with those little glimpse of images, she succeeded to find out the exact place of the one we had seen.
Egypt was not what I expected to hear.
Cloud immediately informed Storm and Estella about it. Those two were still in Paris and upon Cloud's call, they were sent to Egypt, another big country. I wasn't sure if we would actually find that one in time. Egypt was not a small place and they were only two. I suggested that more people went and helped them but Cloud insisted that too many people would catch attention. Plus, we still had the Nicolas problem to solve so catching attention was not what we needed.
"Do you think that it was a good idea to leave Nicolas at your house?" I asked Cloud, ignoring his past words. "Don't you think that Nike may have heard it when Nova said loud and clear that the replica is in Egypt?"
"I can't tell for sure," he replied thoughtfully. "Well, whether he spied on us or not, those two have to find that replica fast. I won't tolerate another death."
"That's funny coming from you," I chuckled and I leaned back against my chair. "I thought that you did not give a fuck."
Now he seemed displeased.
"How many times have I told you to not swear?" He scolded me and I rolled my eyes.
"I'm old enough to decide if I want to swear or not," I snapped back at him. "So shut up, grandpa."
I chuckled at my own words but he did not seem to find it funny. He was going to reply but he stopped himself when a few students got in the class. I nearly cursed out loud when I saw that Emma was among them. I haven't seen her since...well, I did not even know anymore.
Her eyes fell on Cloud and I at the back and I gulped. She literally turned red then. I was going to look away but suddenly, I felt Cloud's fingers on my chin. I turned my head to the side to look at him but I immediately regretted it when he, out of the blue, pressed his lips against mine. My eyes bulged out of their socket. I tried to push him away but he literally got up his chair to kiss me harder than before.
He pulled away from the kiss seconds later, making sure to pull on my bottom lip with his teeth. Instead of backing away completely, he kept his face close to mine. My breath got caught in my throat and I watched him as a smirk came to his lips.
"Really, I'm not appreciating your attitude since this morning," he told me and I kept a straight expression on my face.
"It's not my problem," I informed him. "Not that I like your attitude."
"Continue like this and I swear you will be screaming my name at the end of the day," he said and it looked like a promise. That was simply unbelievable.
"No way in hell," I exclaimed and I added in a lower tone. "If you think that I'm going to let you touch me, you are wrong."
"If you say so," he said and he backed away to sit back in his seat. I gritted my teeth and returned my attention to the front where everyone seemed to have been staring at us. Emma was more red than ever now.
Deciding not to mind her and her hard glare, I looked outside the window. I was trying to have a normal day but Cloud was ruining it. I knew that it was a bad idea for him to come with me. I got Frederick's consent to go back to the high school but no, Cloud had to come along. Like if I was a baby who needed someone to look after himself.
I was far from that.
The bell finally rang and soon the teacher came in. Nevertheless to say that he was pretty surprised to see Cloud. The boy seemed to have missed more days of class than anyone else. When I think of it, it was basically the first time that him and I were in the same class. He never showed up before. Damn, I did not even know that he was in that class.
The lesson started and I tried my best to listen to what the teacher was saying. I knew that I had more important things to do than learning right now but going back to the normal world from time to time was not going to hurt me. It would actually do me some good.
Time flew by faster than I thought and soon the bell rang once again. I let out a sigh. I placed my things back in my bag before standing up and going out of the classroom. I did not wait for Cloud.
Suddenly, I felt someone grab my arm and I turned around ready to shout at Cloud to let me go but I stopped myself when I realized that it was in fact Emma and that Cloud was just standing a few meters away from her with a smirk on his face.
"What do you want?" I asked Emma and she released my arm. I expected her to talk but instead, she slapped me across the face. Cloud let out a chuckle at that and I gave him a look of disbelief. He simply folded his arms and watched me. I returned my attention back to the girl, "What the hell was that for?" I asked her angrily.
"You deserved it," she shouted back at me. "You ruined my life."
Was she serious?
"Sorry, but I don't know what you're talking about," I told her.
"It's you," she shouted. "Since the day that I tried to befriend you, my life has became upside down."
"I never asked you to do anything for me," I informed her and a sad expression came on her face.
"Nicolas left me."
"God, Emma, you are the only one responsible for whatever bad things that happened in your life," I told her. "Now stop bitching and leave me alone."
"You fucking cunt!" She exclaimed and she hit me on the back of the head with her book when I turned around to walk away. I stopped immediately and gritted my teeth. I was starting to feel annoyed by her presence.
I turned around and snatched the book out of her hand while giving her a hard look. I threw the book away and that made her jump in surprise. I stepped towards her and surprisingly, she backed away.
"Listen, Emma," I started in a firm tone. "I have enough of your shit. Now if you don't leave me alone, I will make sure that your life becomes a real living hell."
Of course, I had no way to make her life more worse than it was now. I just wanted her to stop bugging me but my words seemed to have more effects than I expected. She got scared and I realized that the people looking at us also got scared.
"What?" I asked them out loud. "You want my freaking pic?!"
That was enough to make them walk away quickly and I let out a sigh of frustration. Cloud walked to me and clapped his hands happily.
"Bravo," he congratulated me. "I never would have thought that you would look like me this much."
"I am not you," I precised to him and he chuckled.
"Right, you're worse," he said and I clenched my fists.
"Fuck off," I exclaimed at him and then I walked away. Screw them all! Why couldn't they simply leave me alone?
I went back to my locker to change my books and once done, I walked to my next class. Cloud had disappeared and I was thankful for that. Though, while I was passing by a classroom, the door suddenly opened and someone pulled me inside.
I yelped. The door was closed behind me and I was pushed against it. My bag fell to the ground as I felt a pair of lips pressed against mine. My eyes opened wide and I immediately pushed my attacker away.
"Cloud," I exclaimed in disbelief. "What the fuck up!"
"Stop trying to resist," he said and he pressed his body against mine. "And stop swearing."
"Let me go," I told him, fighting back as he tried to kiss me again. I got stronger but still, it did not seem to be enough to push him away.
He succeeded to capture my lips and I went to grab his hair. Angrily, I pulled on them with force and his head snapped back. He groaned.
