I sensed the warm liquid flowing down the side of my head when I gasped and jerked up.
It took me a second to understand where I was and what just happened to me. When I did, my gaze flickered towards the driver’s seat instantly.
Jack was still hanging upside down in the driver’s seat, and I was in no better condition. I had fallen on the ceiling, straight over the glass that was stuck in every inch of my body right now.
I cried out in pain when I registered that a huge piece of the glass was stuck in the side of my waist. Blood flowed out of my body and pooled around me while pain consumed my thoughts.
I groaned, trying to reach my left side so I could pull the glass out. It hurt. It hurt like my body was torn in half.
“ Is she dead? ” I heard a foreign voice and froze.
My disoriented mind began to work, but my blurry vision wasn’t clear.
“ You fool. She has an Alpha’s blood. She won’t die so easily. Can’t you hear the two heartbeats? ” Another voice joined.
My blood ran cold in my veins. They were here for me.
“ Let’s just shoot her and be on our way. He will have our head if we don’t finish this job. ” The first voice hissed before I heard the footsteps getting closer to the car.
My instincts kicked in. I glanced towards Jack, who was still unconscious. I had no idea how badly injured he was because my vision was yet to clear, but if a Beta had fainted, it meant his injuries were serious.
I swallowed the bile rising to my throat and suppressed the tears. Jack wouldn't get up anytime soon. I was on my own.
I crawled over the glass pieces and rushed out of the broken window.
They were after me. They wouldn't harm Jack until they killed me.
Once I was out of the car, I winced and started moving toward the trees so I could hide. But who the fuck was I kidding?
They were wolves. They could locate me anywhere.
I was proven right when a foot slammed into my back, making me drop to the floor. I closed my mouth, suppressing a scream threatening to spill out.
My breathing sped up, and my vision almost faded. There was pain—everywhere. I couldn't bear it. A few tears leaked out of my eyes as I closed them.
“ Where do you think you are going, Luna Zia? ” One of the men chuckled.
“ Don’t mock her. Just get this done, and we can go. ” The other one, the scared one, suggested.
“ Carl, are you fucking serious? ” The man pressing on my back huffed.
“ Jonah, if someone comes and she is not dead, then it will be us in hell soon. ” The other man hissed again.
Carl took his foot off my back and stepped away. My heart drowned as I prepared for what was coming my way.
I needed a surge of adrenaline, just a little, to get me up and running. But it didn't come. I couldn't fight them off. My body was numb.
I wouldn't heal unless the pieces of glass were out of my body, and until then, I would keep bleeding and hurting. If this went on, soon, I would die of blood loss.
But they wouldn't give me the time to survive enough to save myself from such fate.
I heard a gun click as one of them took off the safety. My body turned cold.
So this was it?
I would go down like a weakling without being able to defend myself even once?
I curled my injured fists and pushed myself to my knees. I had to fight. I must not die like this.
“ Come on, Carl, don’t be so serious. ” The man, Jonah, chuckled before he pressed his foot on my lower back once more and pushed me down. “ Let’s just have some fun before we send her off. ”
Alarms blared inside my head. Energy returned in full force. I wriggled and struggled under his pressing foot. I managed to crawl a little away, but he stomped on my back and made me crash into the secluded road again.
No. This couldn't be happening.
“ What do you suggest? ” I could sense the interest in Carl’s voice, and it only made me try harder.
“ Just look at her. ” Jonah pressed his foot to my right side and turned me on my back.
I gasped, my blurry vision landing on the dark sky. The stars were all blurred in my vision, but there were so many of them.
“ It’s not every day you get to be with such a beautiful girl, a Luna. ” He laughed, the tip of his shoe tracing my side roughly.
“ Someone will- - - ”
“ Come on. It won’t take long to fuck her just once. ” Jonah huffed, his foot coming down on my left breast, pressing down until I cried out.
Tears burned the corner of my eyes. I needed to get up and get away- - -my voice kept screaming inside my head, but I couldn’t move no matter how hard I tried.
In that weak moment, I wished for someone to come and save me from the horror. My mind went to Aiden first, but quickly, I realized how he just left with Emily and chose to protect her instead of me.
Tears leaked out of my eyes as I found myself unable to hear them anymore. But I could hear the sound of their zipper and the clinging of their belts.
“ Who goes first? ” They were discussing, laughing, and enjoying while I lay down in the pool of my blood, staring at the sky filled with stars.
Kill me. I wanted to hiss. But the piece of glass stuck in the side of my neck and between my collarbone prevented me from speaking.
When the pain became too much, and one of them got too close- - -close enough to part my legs and lift my torn dress, my vision faded again.
I was grateful that I didn’t have to endure it when I was conscious. I wish I died, so I would never wake up again to face reality.
