Coveted (Completed) - Chapter 17: Chapter 17

There is less worry and more focus in us as we return to Greystones, an anxious Mary stood at the door as we approach, her gaze locking on Bishop who updates her about Maisie. I can see the anger on her face and she sways a little but a woman comes out from her shadow and supports her.
"Rest Mary, as soon as anything changes I will let you know, but you know Maisie will worry more about you than herself and I don't want to tell her any bad news when she wakes up" Bishop argues helping to guide her back inside, settling her in the drawing room, her giant cat stalking over to see her as soon as she was seated.
The shake in her hands visible to us all as she pets the beast. "Neave will stay with you, Rest" he orders her softly and she nods.
"String the little sod up, he deserves it" she tells him in response and we all grin at her bloodthirsty request.
"Mary" Bishop groans and she points at him.
"Don't tell me you can't do it, I know you could make him disappear and no-one would care" she tells him.
He shakes his head at her response, a smile on his face.
"And if you can't do that make sure the little shite pays for what he's done at least" she demands and this time he nods.
We leave Mary and Neave with Pluto and head back into the bowels of the house, they had obviously moved her whilst we were out looking for Maisie and eventually we drop down to a cellar level and find security by a door.
"Ms Strait, time for you to earn some forgiveness" Jamison tells her as the door opens to reveal the woman.
As we enter the room, her gaze searches us "You found her" she says aloud and Jamison nods.
"Lady Greystone is currently in hospital, however" he pauses "Its touch and go, so I would suggest your full cooperation, this still could move beyond GBH to murder" he warns her and her face blanches as she starts stutter out she didn't know over and over.
I believed her, she was greedy and stupid but she had reacted before once she was aware Maisie had been taken and it was clear she was now realising just what sort of man Stewart Duncan was.
Jamison pulls out her phone, laying it on the table in front of her, "He has replied to you, now we need to draw him out"
"I will do whatever you want to to, this was not what I wanted, no one should have got hurt, not like this" she whispers out "What do you want me to say?" she asks.
"Tell him you thought there was someone following you so you have run, and that you have moved the money to a safe location, you are back in Scotland and want to meet with him, where does he think is safest. Tell him you know the Breitmeyers are in Scotland and that you are worried" Jamison tells her, passing her the phone.
We watch as she dials the number, the sound of the ring echoing through the room and we almost give up when he answers "Caro, where are you? Are you okay?"
"Oh Stewart, I'm so scared" she croaks out and I feel my gut clench realising she could let him know we are on to him.
"Baby, don't worry, it will all be fine, now tell me, where are you?" he soothes.
"There was someone following me on the island, I've come back, I'm in Scotland, but I've heard the Breitmeyer's are here too, what should I do, if they catch me... " she tells him.
"And the money, where is my money?" he asks and I see her back straighten and a single tear fall as she realises that's all he really cares about.
"I've moved it somewhere safe, what are we going to do, maybe we should return it, with the money from the original sale we could start afresh?" her voice is sounding slightly stronger now.
"No Caro, stop worrying, I have a plan, now where..." he starts but she kicks the table making a noise and gasping aloud.
"I've got to go, someone is coming, let me know where to meet with you and I can tell you everything" she hangs up before he can say anything else, slumping back in the chair and passing the phone back to Jamison.
"He will text an address, the speed he does that determines the speed he wants the money" she says bitterly.
She hisses as the phone signals an incoming text almost immediately, he has text an address.
"Where?" Bishop asks, coming forward to look at the phone. "That Bastard!, That's Maisie's property in Edinburgh, he's hiding in plain sight"
"We need him to confess to attacking Mary and Maisie, he needs to pay for that" Hector points out and Jamison nods.
"Bishop, what do you want to do?" he checks.
Bishop turns to Strait "Will you help us get a confession out of him?"
She nods "He went too far, I want to help"
"Lets do this" Jamsion agrees, waving Emily forward and she lifts a case onto the desk, opening it to reveal a host of electronic gadgets and we watch as she goes to work creating a device that will record Stewart Duncan confessing to his crimes.
