Ten Days later...
The knock on the library door proceeded Mary rushing in "You have visitors!" she exclaims.
"Who? I'm not expecting anyone" I reply, my mind still half in the story I was writing.
My phone rang as I tried to process everything at one and I saw Hectors name flash across the screen, "Answer it" Mary laughed.
"Hector?" I answered softly
"Baby I am so sorry, I didn't know they were coming, we are on our way back to you. I promise we will be there soon. Bishop held us up... Please don't hate us" he rushed out and I looked between my phone and Mary, seeing the link.
"Hector... who?"
"My parents... baby, we really didn't know they were coming, stay in the library if you want, they can wait till we get there" he sounds so worried.
"Are they horrible?" I question carefully.
"No, but they are a bit much and have no filter. I know they will love you, just like we love you" I sigh at his words, looking back at Mary who looks thoroughly entertained.
"Drive safely, please no rushing or speeding, these roads can be treacherous, I'm sure it will all be okay" I tell him, then pause before adding "I love you too, both of you"
I hang up on their exclamations and push back from the desk, Mary grinning now "You ready for this?" she teases and I nod, letting a wry smile out "I have to be, I don't think I could let them go and they tell me they won't let me go"
"Lets do this then", she links her arm through mine and we had for the sun room, where Neave was serving tea to our guests.
"Oh, you are just as I imagined" I heard before I was enveloped in a hug.
"Ronnie let the poor girl breathe" I heard behind me, but the arms tightened before loosening.
The woman pulls back and I can finally look at the twins parents, both smiling at me. "Herod Breitmeyer and my wife Veronique, it is a pleasure to meet you Lady Mairead"
"Maisie please" I answer automatically. "This is Mary" I introduce her "The twins are out with Bishop" I tell them and they both grin.
"We know, we wanted to meet you without them hovering, keeps them on their toes" Veronique tells me pulling me into another hug.
"They are on their way back, they phoned just as you arrived" Herod laughs and helps Veronique back to her seat, freeing me to sit next to Mary who is pouring the tea.
"How are you, the twins told us what happened" Herod asks, sitting back down and relaxing back. "The boys are sorry, as are we all, this should never have happened"
"I don't blame them or your company, if it hadn't been you, it would have been someone else. Stewart has always been bitter, he would have tried something regardless" I explain and see the sympathy on their faces.
The roar of an engine outside surprises me and I take a quick look at my watch, they cannot have gotten here this quickly!
"Maisie!" I hear Hector shout and growl under my breath.
Mary laughs as their parents raise their brows.
"Maisie!" Angus shouts this time, closer and I call out "In the sun room"
"Are you okay?" Hector comes rushing through first, Angus a step behind him, both of them glaring at their parents before coming to me.
"What did I say" I bark out quietly. I watch as they look at each other, then back to me.
"What did I say to you, I asked one thing" I growl.
"Baby, we..." I hold up my hand to stop him.
"Where were you when you called me?"
"Just leaving the base" Angus admits, looking again at Hector.
"You... you did a twenty minute journey in under 10 minutes" I pause "I asked you to stay safe, to drive safely, what did you think would happen" I wave my hands toward their parents "How do you think that makes me feel, makes them feel that you don't trust them with me, or me with them" I take a deep breath "Why?" I question almost silently.
"Because you said you love us" Hector growls back, pulling me up into his arms, "The first time you tell us I love you and it's over a phone!" and then his lips are on mine. Everything around me fades and its me and him, until a hand curves around my waist and Hector pulls back, his forehead resting on mine "I love you" he whispers before turning me to face Angus.
"Baby" he moves me closer, his hand coming up to hold my nape and his eyes locking on mine "I love you too" and its his turn to turn my mind to mush as he misses me.
Clapping brings us back to our senses and I blush, hiding my face in Angus's chest as I remember his parents and Mary just watched us kiss.
"Hey Dad, mom, what are you doing here?" Hector asks pulling me down to sit on his lap, his arms banding around me.
Angus laughs as I try to wriggle free, "You are such cavemen!" I mutter under my breath before settling against him, I know i'm not going anywhere until he lets me free.
"We wanted to meet our future daughter in law" Herod replies laughing at them. "We wondered what was taking you two so long"
"Dad!" both the twins exclaim together and I laugh. They had told me all about their families and how their brother and faux cousins were all in poly relationships and how they had happened.
"Where's her ring?" Veronique added, grinning at them, "it only took your brother and the boys a week before they had a ring on Per's finger"
"Mom!" it was their turn to glare at her. I giggled and Hectors arms tightened.
"What are you waiting for?" Mary suddenly added, looking at the boys.
The huffed, and looked at each other "We were waiting for the right moment" Angus growled out, reaching into his pocket and removing a black velvet ring box and holding it up to me, Hector reaching round to open the box to display a stunning vibrate emerald surrounded by diamonds and with them surrounding me they both whispered "Will you marry us"
My breath caught as I stared down at the ring, before I gasped out yes, my twins grinning as Angus freed the ring and Hector raised my hand so he could slide the ring onto place.
"Congratulations and welcome to the family" Veronique applauded passing Mary a tissue and laughing as Herod snapped a quick picture on his phone. Typing away quickly before sliding it back into his pocket and wrapping an arm around his wife.
"What did I miss?" A voice from the hallway asked and we all laughed as Bishop strode not the room, his gaze catching on the ring sparkling on my finger and then he too added his congratulations as the twins introduced their mother. Veronique patting Herod arm at his excitement of Bishop being there and I smiled to myself glad to have my family here and them to get on so well with the twins family.
The evening turned into a celebration, Mary in her element at having guests in the house again, having instructed them to chancel their hotel booking and insisting they stay at the house. She beat me to it but it was probably a good thing, the twins had me so enthralled I would probably forget my own name today.
