I stayed in Bishops office as he showed out the Breitmeyer's. My heart and mind still racing form meeting them. I had never had such a core reaction to any male before let alone two of them. It was clear they were twins, identical but different as well, and they both seemed to watching me.
I shivered again as if their eyes were still on me. Hector had been very obvious in his regard but Angus less so, not that his eyes left me much during the time I was in the room.
"You okay?" I jumped as Bishop came back into the room, his gaze appraising me, could he see how flushed I was still.
"Maisie?"
"Sorry, I was lost in my thoughts, Do you think they were telling the truth, that they didn't know what was happening?"
"Yes, I believe them, do you? You missed part of the discussion, they are actively looking over everything that has happened so far as well as trying to track down Stewart and the woman" he pauses, settling back in his chair and looking at me. "The question is this resort, do you want to hear them out or is it a flat no"
"Flat no" I say not even needing to think about it.
"Then make them an offer for the land, bring it back into the estate, then they can be on their way"
"Do you think they will sell it to me?" I ask leaning forward.
"We can ask, if we make them aware that its never going to happen I can't see them wanting to hold onto it, there is no reason to" for some reason I felt my heart ache at the thought of them going. I shook it off, there is no way, no way...
"You liked them" Bishop says into the silence and i stare at him, shaking my head.
"You like them, that's why you offered your name" he repeats.
"No... I was just being polite, after all it is my cousin who has cheated them, I feel..."
"Bullshit" Bishop laughs and I blush. "Be honest, you were taken with the Breitmeyer boys. Do I need to get my gun out?"
"Bishop!" I exclaim, not completely sure he is joking. His eyebrow raises as he looks at me, demanding a real response. "Okay, maybe, I felt something" I blush harder at the thought of talking about boys with Bishop.
"Its about time you had some fun, you can't hide away in that house forever, and they're pretty enough and you'd get two for the price of one"
"Bishop!" this time I jumped to my feet, hands on my hips as I glare at my cousin who grins back at me.
"Just saying, it was clear they were both very taken with you"
"People don't really do that" I hissed at him, even as my mind conjured images of the twins doing exactly what he was suggesting. He looks at me contemplatively and I fidget under his stare. "Bishop?"
"Their brother is in a committed relationship with one woman and three other men, they have 3 children between them now. Another close family member of their generation is in a ménage relationship. I don't think that fact they both want you will stop them, in fact I think it will encourage them." he tells me as I pace the room.
"Its crazy, you are crazy, I've just met them, you don't know they are interested in me that way, and I..."
"Yes you?" Bishop grins at me before his expression turns more serious. "Those boys were both interested, in fact in his brother hadn't pulled him back I think your hands would still be in Hector's. What I need to know is do I make them disappear and leave you alone, or are you interested?"
I throw myself back down into the seat and glare at him "I hate it when you make me face things" I say and he grins back at me. "I don't know what to say, they made me feel something, I just don't know what" I finally admit.
"I think they will be around for a few days, lets see what happens" he suggests and I bite nervously at my lip as I think about them being around.
"Come on, I'll run you home" he pulls his keys out of the draw and gets up, herding me out the door and letting Beth know he'll be back soon.
We get to the house just as a florist van is unloading, Bishops laughing as he goes to investigate and greet Isla who is the local florist. I follow slowly knowing already who they are going to be from.
Bishop grins at me and I shake my head turning to Isla who is holding a beautiful wild flower bouquet out to me "Wow" I tell her genuinely impressed with the bouquet "This is stunning"
"The gentlemen were very clear of what they wanted in it, and I agree, I think it's one of the best I have ever done. They wrote out a card too, its tucked in there" she replies and Bishop steps forward, plucking the note free and opening it.
Both Isla and I start to object but he's done it before the first word is out.
"Bishop!"
"Commander!"
Bishop grins and takes a step back from us, scanning the note before passing out to me and lifting the flowers out of Isla's hands. "Just checking" he tells us, still smiling.
"Hmm, well enjoy your flowers and the rest of your day" she laughs before hoping back in her van and leaving.
"Come on, lets go put poor Mary out of her misery" Bishop laughs and I turn to see Mary watching us from the porch.
I grip the note in my hand and follow him to the house, both excited and nervous about reading it. Bishop was leaning over Mary showing her the flowers and telling her about my new admirers as I stalked past him, heading for the front room and pulling Pluto up into a hug before sitting down with him in my lap and the note still clutched in my hand.
"Read it" Bishop prompted and I lift my eyes to glare at him. "You know you want to" he teases and I growl as I uncurl the note and lift it so I can read it.
'To Maisie, a truly stunning woman, please give us the chance of improving on your first impressions of us, Have dinner with us tonight, just the two of us. Yours Hector and Angus' below the words were two mobile numbers... theirs.
"They want me to have dinner with them" I tell him and he nods, perching in front of me on the coffee table.
"Mary will be cross with you if she catches you sitting there" I grumble and he smiles.
"Stop changing the subject" he orders and I groan. "Do you want to go?"
"I... I think I do, but..." I whisper out and he nods. "I'm a little scared"
"Do you want me to come?" he offers but I shake my head."I think I want to do this on my own"
"Make sure you have your phone and it's charged, call me at any time if you feel uncomfortable" he orders, but he is still smiling.
"Yes Dad" I laugh at him but I know its because he cares about me.
I pull my phone out of my pocket, dislodging Pluto and earning myself a hiss as he took himself off to rub against Bishops legs. Opening the text function I type in both numbers 'Thank you for the flowers, they are beautiful and yes to dinner. Maisie' I hit send before I can worry anymore and slump back against the cushions.
Two minutes later my phone vibrates and they've texted back 'We will pick you up at seven x'
I showed the text to Bishop, who copied their numbers into his phone... just in case, he had said, then he had gone back to the base and I meandered through the house looking for Mary and my flowers.
