Cream Knows Best - Chapter 28: Chapter 28

Cream's P.O.V
Well, I talked to Tails, Cheese, and Charmy about our plan. Everything seemed to be in place once we were sure of everything. "Are sure this is a good idea?" Tails asked me, worried about this whole plan. "It'll be fine! Mr. Orbot and Cubot told me it shouldn't do anything out of the ordinary other than hit them in the head. But I told them I didn't want anyone to get drastically hurt. "Okayyyy. We trust your judgment. So we just sit here the entire time?" Charmy questioned. "Yep! Things will fly through if we're lucky! Should be here any minute so let's hide it inside the bushes!" I told them, then we hid inside the bush.
Right as we took our places and found a peephole, we watched as the robot started wrecking the trees and plants. Others who were nearby started running off for safety. "Sonic should be here any minute, I sent out an alert!" Tails said, motioning to his watch. "That's good! Now we just wait!" I replied.
We were right! Mr. Sonic, Amy, Knuckles, Ms. Rouge, Mr. Shadow, and Ms. Sally all took part in this battle. "Let's bring it down, guys!" Mr. Sonic shouted. They seemed to into the heat of battle. So all we could do now was bring out the popcorn and watch!
Knuckles' P.O.V
This was it! Just what needed to take my mind off everything. Even... even if she was here, I knew it would help me get past everything that my heart couldn't.
I was ready, I punched into the mainframe of the robot where it started to fry. "Yeah Knucks!" Sonic praised, knowing I had caused most of the damage already. "Let's destroy this thing!" Amy shouted, jumping up in the air, and bringing her hammer down on the robot, basically smashing the things head inside. She was scary whenever she brought that thing out. Where did she even put it? Finally, the robot did break down and just sit there, fizzling and popping due to its malfunctions.
"Yes! We did it!" Sally replied and we went to cheer and give each other high fives. It was a little awkward with the mix of friends there but I mean, I couldn't do anything about it. As the others were talking and bragging about their victory I walked a little closer to the robot and just looked at it. I wasn't sure but the fact that it came out the day after being heartbroken, made me feel surprisingly better.
It'll get better... just gotta move forward. I turned around sadly and began to walk back slowly. I wasn't paying attention too much since I just stared at the ground. "KNUCKLES LOOK OUT!" Shadow warned me.
Confused why he was so concerned, I turned back. The robot was falling over... onto me.
"Uh-oh."
Rouge's P.O.V
The robot fell on top of Knuckles, he seemed taken off guard so badly, he didn't have time to react. I panicked. "Knuckles!" I shouted, running over to the robot, the others not too far behind him. "Knuckles can you hear me? Say something!" I cried. But I got no response. "Please Knuckles!" I cried. I started to lift up the huge piece of metal. "Help me!" I snapped, tears started to fall down my cheeks.
Shadow and Sonic were able to lift the huge thing up enough where Sally and Amy dragged him out from under it. Knuckles still lied their unconscious, his whole face had dirt and oil on it. "Wake up Knuckles!" I cried. Nothing. "Ugh! You stubborn brute! Why can't you wake up!"
"Hey, it'll be okay Rouge, just relax a little okay?" Shadow reassured me, but I didn't want to. How could I be calm when he's like this!? "Shut up Shadow! Leave me alone! He's hurt and you're not even doing anything to help! I know I was wrong before but just let me stay with him! This is all my fault! I should've been looking after him! But I'm so worried about being a screw-up to do anything about it! Everything we've been through to right now, it's all been my fault!" I cried, hiding my face in my hands. "Just, go away! I can handle this on my own!" I snapped. As I let the teardrops fall down my cheeks, I felt a hand touch my cheek.
I gasped in surprise seeing Knuckles somewhat awake from the huge event that just happened. "You okay?" he asked, caressing my cheek with his thumb. My mouth was dry. I lost all the words that I wanted to say. All I did was sit there like an idiot, letting the tears continue to fall. "W-Well, why don't we give you two some space? We'll catch up later!" Amy said, cutting out the silence.
Thank god I had someone like her. Everyone nodded their heads and went in different directions, leaving us there in the middle of the rubble. Knuckles sat up so he could actually look at me better. I sighed, holding his hand to my cheek. "You know I don't think you're a screw-up, right?" he asked me. "Well... you should..." I grumbled. "Why do you think that about yourself? It's not a healthy feeling." he told me. "I know... but... it's just me being honest with myself. Please just forget about me Knuckie... It's for the best..." I sighed.
He rubbed my back, making me feel better. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me Rouge. Even though we didn't meet on good terms, things got better in my opinion. I understand if you really don't love me back, that I can understand. But if you're trying to hide from me, I just want you to know you don't have to. No one in this world is perfect Rouge. I love it when you're you. I don't want anyone else besides you."
I took in a deep breath, trying to form the words I want to say. "As much as you see the good in me, I'm just a thief Knuckles... I'm no one special. I'll probably never be anyone good. All I'd be doing is dragging you into the mud. I don't want to do that to you."
"Do you think I'm not aware of what you've done? I know you don't want to be that girl anymore. Let me help you. We can get through it together. I'll be here when you think it'll go downhill. Whatever you need me to do, I'll do whatever I can. Please... you don't have to do it alone. I care about you Rouge. Nothing can change how I feel." he added, wiping a tear away from my face. "You really mean that?" I asked, starting to have faith in both of us. "Really, I mean it. I'd do anything for you." he sighed.
I sniffed and wiped away another tear before giving him a big hug. I refused to let go of him, he was too cuddly! "So, I'm guessing you still want me around?" he teased. I giggled and nodded my head, still loving on him. "Thanks, Knuckles." I sighed, loving his warm embrace. "You're welcome Rouge." "I'm surprised you don't hate me... or at least didn't push me away." "I couldn't do that to you, even if I was hurt, I couldn't bring myself to feel those emotions. Something about you is too special." he reassured.
Well, in that case! I kissed him on his cheek, his fuzzy peach muzzle turning a bright red. "Aww! Is my Knuckie embarrassed?" He shook his head and pulled me in closer. His lips met mine, taking me off guard completely. "Muclkes!" I mumbled, astonished by his passionate surprise. Once he broke our kiss, all I did was stare at him. "You've got your own diamond eyes." he sighed, pulling me in closer. "You have rare ones." I didn't want this feeling to fade.
Thinking about diamonds made me remember something. I reached in my back pocket and pulled out the small box that he'd given me the day I rejected him. "I would've opened it sooner... but I was so ashamed..." I sighed. "Nothings holding you back now." he smiled. I was so excited that I quickly untied the ribbon and lifted the lid off the box. It was so beautiful!
The whole bracelets were small diamonds all over it, little charms on its side, all the charms were silver with small designs. "Aww, Knuckles! It's beautiful! I love it! I... I love you." I gasped, then blushed, realizing what I said. "I love you too, Rouge." he smiled. We shared another kiss, hugging each other, and I didn't want this feeling to stop. "C'mon, let's head somewhere else," he said kindly, getting up, then reached out his hand to help me up. I nodded my head and took his hand to follow him somewhere. "Are we official?" I asked shyly.
"If that's what you want, then we can be. But I'm not going to rush you." he reassured. "Then... Then I'm all yours!" I smiled, holding onto his arm tightly. He gave me a warm smile and pecked my forehead which made my cheeks heat up.
I was happy. No, I was more than happy! I was ecstatic! This was my chance to be happy. I wasn't going to give it up. For once in my life, I finally got something I really wanted. It could only go up from here!
Cream's P.O.V
Awww! They were finally happy together! "Did you guys see that? It was so adorable!" I sniffled. stars clearly in my eyes. "What do you guys think?" I asked, looking over to the two of my friends. Both had itty-bitty tears coming down their face. "Awww! It's too cute! I can't! OhhhH!" Tails cried trying to take deep breaths from our wonderful ship! "Same hereee! It's too beautiful!" Charmy cried. "Chew chew chew!" Cheese said, handing all of us some tissues to blow our nose and dab our eyes from the tears.
"So sweet! Another success!" I cheered, my heart content with all these feelings. "Yeah! Wait- another success?" Tails questioned, grasping onto what I said.
"Oh! That's right I never told you about how it went over with Blaze and Mr. Silver! When you guys were asleep, Blaze ended up coming over to Amy's where she told me she felt bad about dumping Mr. Silver the way she did. I ended up convincing her Mr. Silver really truly did care about who she is and didn't care about all the stuff Blaze was worried about in the beginning. She ended up calling me later to say she was happy that I talked to her about what had happened because now they're dating!" I squealed. They both just stared at me in awe at the fact that I could pull something like that off in a heartbeat!
But whatever it meant to them, it honestly didn't mean much. I knew there was something more important that we had to do. "C'mon guys, we've got to go find Mr. Espio and take him out for a walk." I said.
