Cream Knows Best - Chapter 38: Chapter 38

Tails' P.O.V
I was at my house, trying to make inventions, and wondering what else I can do. But all I could think about was Charmy for about an hour. I know I'm only eight, but at the same time, it felt right. But back to focus! I had to be very careful about how I do this. I could mess up the whole experiment. I started to lower the battery into the container and was ready to deal with anything that came my way.
Everything was going as I planned. The battery was almost in place. "*Knock Knock* Tails? *Knock Knock* Are you home?" a voice asked, startling me terribly. The battery flew up in the air and I quickly caught it before it fell on the ground. When I approached the door, I saw Amy, Sally, Blaze, Silver, Knuckles, and Rouge by the door. "Uh, hello! Is there something I can help you guys with something?"
"Hey Tails! We're sorry to disturb you, but we needed to know about something that you may or may not know." Knuckles explained.
I suppose maybe I did have the answers! "Uh okay! Sure! What is it?" I asked them. "We were wondering if you knew about a plan to get all of us together? Knuckles and Silver said they part of the plan, but that was only because you had the idea." Blaze questioned. "Me? I didn't plan anything! It was all Cream's idea! She wanted to see you guys happy! You guys could try to ask Charmy though, he might have more answers!" I explained. "Okay! Thanks hun!" Rouge said and they walked off.
Now maybe I could finally finish my experiment!
Charmy's P.O.V
I had my markers and crayons out laid before me so I could draw a picture of Espio and Vector hugging since I saw them doing so the other night. Right before I could finish it up, I heard the back door open and saw Shadow, Sonic, Espio, and Vector walk into the foyer. "Hey Charm!" Vector greeted coming close to my side. "Hi!" I greeted as I hugged him. "Whatcha drawing there?" he asked. I gladly gave him the drawing and watched his face turn red as a tomato. "Um, well, it's very well drawn!" he said, giving it back to me. The others were snickering but they stopped once Vector gave them a look.
"Anyways, we really came to ask you something important." he explained. "Okie doke! What's super-duper important?" I asked, my wings buzzing with excitement. "So, Charmy, is there something you did with Cream and Tails to bring us all together? We've heard you were involved making up all the ideas." Espio asked. Haha! They can be funny sometimes!
"Pft! I didn't come up with any of it! It was all planned out by Cream! She knew you guys were in love so she wanted to bring you guys together. I only helped because I wanted to see Espio and Vector happy again!" I replied, my wings lightly buzzing.
Their faces were still shocked but they knew what they had to do. "Thank you Charmy. We'll get back to you soon!" Espio responded and patted my head. "You're welcome!" I smiled. They headed out the door to head off to wherever they were going and shut the door. Now to work on my next drawing! Me and Tails!
Shadow's P.O.V
We finally figured out everything and meet back up at our location. "So, I'm guessing you guys got told the same thing?" Amy guessed. "Yep, but to be honest, I wasn't expecting any other answer." Shadow replied. "You knew along?" Sonic questioned. "Well, yeah. I helped them for the most part. But I didn't know that it was her necklace doing all the work. But... half of me thinks she wouldn't have needed that necklace to see our emotions eventually." I said. "Well, where is she? I mean it'd be nice to know why she went to all these lengths! I mean for Tails, Charmy, and Cheese I can get! But everyone else? I can't understand why we were her main priority... when she lost her mother..." Amy wondered.
I thought for a minute but then I thought back to all those times she would do all those silly things to make me laugh. When I was down. When I felt broken. When I felt lost and worthless. I realized that they were for a reason. "Happiness." I said aloud. "She did... to see us happy." I replied. "I'll meet you back home. I've gotta go pick her up." I told Sonic, kissing his forehead. "Alright, I'll see you in a bit." he sighed, smiling at me. I told everyone else goodbye before running off.
Finally, I reached the house of the babysitter that was watching Cream and knocked on the door. I barely had to wait since she came frantically, looking like she was terrified. "Thank goodness you're here!" she cried. "What? Why what's wrong?" I asked. "Cream! She's gone! I can't find her anywhere!" she explained. "Gone?! What do you mean gone?!" "One minute she was sitting in the room while I was making lunch, but then she wasn't there! I don't know what to do!" she cried. She really just ran off? What am I supposed to do?
That's when it occurred to me about where she might have headed. "I think I have an idea! Just stay here unless she comes back!" I told her and began to run off.
I knew there was a chance I could be very wrong, but it was the only place I knew she could've run off to.
Cream's P.O.V
I was sitting on the grass with sandwiches, Cheese also at my side. I wanted to visit my mom after knowing I had brought everyone together, knowing my mission was complete. "Hi momma! Hope you're doing well today. It's been good here, everyone seems to be happy!" I said to her, as I took another bite of peanut butter and jelly. "Chew chew!" Cheese added. "Oh! That's right! You might already know, but everything worked out! Mr. Espio and Mr. Vector are in love! It's the same for Mr. Shadow and Mr. Sonic! I'm glad I could fix it!" I replied.
It was sad knowing I would never get an answer back. I wish she didn't leave yet. I wish she was still here to see all my hard work. Sometimes I wonder if my life was even worth it. It wasn't fair that my mom left. "Why couldn't you have stayed?" I asked, tears coming down my cheek.
Cheese cooed and sat down on my shoulder, giving me a hug. "Chew chew." he reassured.
More tears fell down my face as I just stared at the grave. Wishing I could have what I wanted. But what was the point? Everything was so sad.
While I sat there for a long time, I heard someone come up behind me. "Mr. Eggman?" I asked looking behind me. "Oh, hello little rabbit! I didn't expect you to be here." he replied. I gave him a small smile and gave him a hug. "Why are you here?" I asked. "Oh, I came to pay my respects to my father and my grandfather. They're not too far from right here." he told me, pointing to another spot.
We all walked over to the spot where he laid the flowers down. Both said Harold Robotnik and Gerald Robotnik. But there was another one. Maria Robotnik. I remember Mr. Shadow talking about her one time. "Do you miss them?" I asked. "I somewhat miss my father. But often, he was never truly there for me. He only had me to pass down his lifetime of work and brains off to. I didn't really know my grandfather. But quite honestly I don't know what to think of a relative who tried to kill his own grandson to try and get back at humanity." he said. "What about her?"
He looked over at who I was talking about. His expression somewhat changed. "Neither of us really spoke. For the most part, she was on the Ark. But... I feel bad that I never got to know her. The reason I come to see her still is that I want to feel closer to my family that I had. I've always been lonely. Kind of how you put it the other day. Yet I'm at peace with it. I was never really a part of my family, but I can't stay upset forever."
Poor Mr. Eggman. I hugged him again, holding on tight. "Well, you can be a part of mine!" I told him. "Chew chew chew!" Cheese added. His bushy mustache curved and he picked me up and put me on his shoulders. "How about that?" he said. "Yay! Can I call you Grandpa Eggman??" I begged. "Sure kid," he sighed. All three of us walked away and that's when we saw Mr. Shadow.
"Cream! Oh thank god!" he cried and raced over. "Mr. Shadow!" I cheered and got down and ran over to him. He picked me up from the ground and hugged me like a teddy bear. "You scared me! Please don't do that again." he sighed. "I'm sorry. I was just lonely." I apologized. "No... it's okay. I understand why you ran off. But next time, just tell me. I'll take you." he promised. "Okay, I'll ask next time!"
I watched him look over at Eggman and he smiled. Grandpa Eggman waved back and waved goodbye. We all waved back and headed off. "Chew chew." Cheese said. "I know I know, I'll be more careful next time!" I said. When we made it back home and he sat me on the couch.
Mr. Shadow looked so happy. I've never seen him without a raindrop or a gray cloud above his head. "Thank you, Cream. Thank you Cheese. " he said. "I'm not sure what I would've done without you both. I'm sure you both know, but, everyone has their special someone now. I'm not sure how you worked it all out. But... all I can say is, I'm very proud of you." he sighed. I just smiled. I cuddled into him, trying to show him how much I appreciated his help. Cheese joined me, we both loved on him. "Thank you for taking care of us." I thanked.
"Anything for you Cream." he sighed. That's why we did everything. The reason we always gave support and help to others. Because we all loved each other.
