I never expected Bruce to be this full of himself—still convinced I was hopelessly pining after him.
"You're reading too much into it. This is just a coincidence," I said flatly.
"Coincidence?" Bruce scoffed, pulling Gianna into his arms. "Name one audition where you didn't show up to dissect my scenes. And now you're calling it a coincidence?"
My hands balled into fists on their own.
Back then, I'd read every script Bruce got cover to cover. I helped him break down characters, craft unique mannerisms—tiny details that made his performances pop. That's why, even with just a handful of supporting roles in A-list projects, he'd already started climbing the ladder.
Gianna let out a smug little laugh. "Oh, Ysabelle, just help Bruce out. If he hits it big, you'll ride the wave too, won't you? Share in the glory?"
I arched a brow. "You mean the greasy kind of shine?"
Shaking the script in my hand, I added, "I'm only here to show the director the revisions."
Bruce frowned, suspicion flickering in his eyes. "You sold a script?"
Surprisingly, Gianna switched tactics. "You should be thanking Ysabelle. Weren't you just begging the director to cast you as the lead in this exact project?"
It clicked for Bruce. He really thought I'd come here to hand him the role.
Relaxing like he'd already won, he sprawled back on the sofa, legs crossed.
No matter how much he and Gianna hated me, they'd never turn down money.
Rumors swirled that this was an S-tier production—even a supporting role could be a golden ticket.
I scoffed, staring him down.
"And why the hell would I help you?"
Bruce shot to his feet, stepping toward me. Instinctively, I stepped back.
"You're still mad?" he said, incredulous. "I'm not even bringing up that fake boyfriend of yours. Just talk to the director and—"
He smirked, already basking in his imagined victory.
Before I could fire back, a deep voice cut in behind me.
"Who said I was fake?"
My whole body locked up. I didn't dare turn around.
The last time I'd seen Terrence was the night of that heated kiss. Before I lost myself completely, I'd bolted while he was out buying protection.
My Biggest Regret: Ghosting Him After I Jumped Him
Now, he stood behind me, his voice laced with amusement as he leaned in close.
"Did you enjoy that night?" His breath grazed my skin, sending a shiver down my spine. My face burned crimson.
No explanation needed—my reaction said it all.
Bruce's smirk vanished. "You… you two—"
His gaze dropped to my neck, landing on a faint, lingering mark.
The realization hit him like a slap.
"When did this happen? Ysabelle, what the hell have you been doing behind my back?!" he roared.
He lunged forward, but Terrence blocked him.
I couldn't help but laugh. "Who I'm with and what I do is none of your business."
"And what are we, Bruce?"
"I can be with whoever I want."
With that, I hooked my arm through Terrence's.
Bruce's face darkened.
Gianna stepped in, gripping his arm, her voice dripping with condescension. "Ysabelle, you'll really stoop to anything to make Bruce jealous."
She gave Terrence a once-over, scanning for any sign of wealth.
Finding none, she sneered.
"Picking up some random guy off the street? Aren't you worried about catching something?"
"As his childhood friend, Bruce was just looking out for you."
I hadn't expected Gianna to twist the knife like this.
Bruce hesitated, then nodded. "Exactly! I don't want to see you throw yourself at some shady guy."
"This guy's bad news, Ysabelle!"
