FAY
"I need a friend and a therapist." I said as I rushed into Karen's office, dropping down on her soft couch with a heavy heart.
She chuckled. "Good morning to you too Fay." She smiled, sitting Infront of me. "You look like you have a lot on your mind."
I inhaled deeply before speaking. "I do have a lot on my mind... A lot of things I can't figure out." I muttered.
"Okay, then... Let's start with the Brunch... How did it go?" Karen asked.
Well, that was how it all started. "It was a complete disaster." I said. "Elroy destroyed it by bringing up my contract with Yvonne and my mother exploded instantly." I informed her.
Karen raised her brows. "Did you end it?" She asked.
"I didn't... My mom did... She slapped me and forcefully took my phone away from me and then she texted Yvonne." I said.
Karen sighed. "How did you process through that feeling?" She asked.
I relaxed back on the couch, making myself comfortable.
"Rhea took me to her house after that... She calmed me and made me forget for a while... Until I eventually got back to Elroy's house."
"What happened then?" She asked.
"Well... The unexpected." I simply said. "He hugged me." I said, still finding it difficult to believe.
Karen raised a brow. "He hugged you." She said, trying to confirm it herself.
"He did Karen... I was beyond shocked. The Elroy I knew avoids body contact but he hugged me today."
"Okay, what happened after that?" Karen asked further.
"I pulled away... I thought something was actually wrong with him... But he seemed perfectly fine... He then told me that he had been worried sick about me. And the next thing I know? He was apologizing to me."
"What?" Karen asked with a smile on her face.
"That was my exact reaction. I knew then and there that he wasn't really worried about me, that he was playing at a game... A game he wanted to win so bad..."
"But..." Karen urged me to continue.
"But then, he looked so sincere and vulnerable... I tried my best not to buy his obvious crap but I found myself thinking about it... I then decided that he was only messing with me. He would never apologize..."
"But..." Karen inquired.
"But then I got a call from Damien... He told me that Elroy just left his house. Karen," I sat up. "... Elroy apologized to Damien and Cade. And now I'm back to being confused." I said.
"That's a lot." Karen said.
"I know right?" I placed my back on the soft couch again, feeling uneasy. "... I can't even tell if he's just fooling around or being serious. What do you think?" I asked Karen.
"Well... Analyzing the issue, I guess Elroy felt guilty-"
"Elroy doesn't feel guilty... I know that man." I cut in.
"He's only human, Fay. Maybe when he saw your mother's action towards you, it triggered something in him... Something called guilt." Karen said. "And besides... I know him... He's not all bad, neither is he all good, he's trying his best to remain strong, to pull off that strong facade... But honestly, Elroy is much nicer than his brothers... Even Damien."
"Then why don't I see it?"
"He doesn't want you to." Karen said. "... Listen, Fay. He knew that there was a possibility that he might fall for you, you are a very beautiful woman, sexy too. He took a liken to you when he first saw you but the way your date ended, he decided to mask that liken with hate. Maybe seeing you getting hurt triggered something in him... Something he had been trying to suppress."
"You think?" I asked, doubting every bit of her words.
"I know." Karen smiled. "Although, you might think that he is aiming at a bigger game- but I believe that there is a part in him that wanted to apologise to everyone. He might just be covering it up with whatever scheme you think he's aiming at." Karen said.
"I don't know Karen... A part of me just wants to lean in to him and another part is trying to be careful. Elroy is crafty." I said, biting my lips as I sat up again. "He even went as far as saying that he would renew my contract with Yvonne if that was what I really wanted."
"He said that?" Karen asked.
"Yeah... I was so confused that I couldn't even speak... He looked so sincere. I felt bad for refusing his apology, but he assured me that he could wait till whenever I was ready to accept it. I don't understand that man." I said, relaxing back on the couch again.
"Why do you find it difficult to believe him?" Karen asked.
"Because he's Elroy, he doesn't just go around doing things without concrete reasons. He has to be planning something."
"Do you want to believe him?"she asked.
"I do." I answered within an heartbeat without realizing it.
"Why?" She asked.
"Well... Because... Because I-"
"Because you think that if he has truly changed? You would get the relationship you so seek for. Or that your relationship would be given another shot. Right?"
"Yeah... I guess."
"You're starting to like him right? Romantically?"
I sighed, not knowing how to answer that question. Am I?
I had a hot and successful Boyfriend who carries all the charms In the world. Whose smile can put a smile to everyone's face. We were the ideal couple to the public... I guess I did enjoy his show of affection whenever we were in public. I wanted him to show affection when we were alone... Yet here he was, doing exactly what I'd ever wanted, but I still found it difficult to believe him.
Maybe it was just too good to be true...
"I- I guess," I answered. "But that's not the point Karen... The point is a question. Does he really want to give our relationship a chance or was he just trying to act nice and get whatever it is he really wanted?"

After my therapy with Karen, I decided to go see Melissa. I knew she was hurting, I knew she would feel responsible for Elroy being so bad to me, but I had to make her understand that it wasn't her fault.
I found her sitting in a hut shade just beside the swimming pool.
When she saw me, a small smile played it's way to her face, but it didn't reach her eyes. "Fay, you didn't tell me you were coming over." She said as I bent to air kiss her on both cheeks before sitting beside her.
"I wanted to surprise you, Melissa." I smiled warmly at her... "And I also wanted to see how you were holding up."
She sighed. "I'm feeling guilty... For putting you through Elroy's mess. I feel so responsible for it all." She smiled sadly. "Why didn't you tell me that you weren't happy with him? Why did you keep on lying Everytime we met? Fay, I really do feel responsible, and I'm sorry for putting you through suffering-"
"No, Melissa." I cut her off.  "... You honestly don't have to feel guilty, it isn't your fault. At all. I choose to stay with Elroy because I really do like him and because I know that one day our relationship would fall into place and it'll make you happy." I said to her.
"But what about your own happiness? Or Elroy's happiness?" She asked.
I sighed. "Melissa, Elroy and I may have issues, but there are sometimes that we- we work through them ourselves. We care deeply for each other." I lied, partially.
"Is that true?" Melissa asked as hope began to reflect in her eyes again.
"It's the truth Grandma." Elroy's voice cut in, making us raise our heads to his direction. He stood there, his suit was no where to be seen. He made his way towards us and knelt down right Infront of Melissa. "I care about Fay, a lot.." he said, his eyes moving to my direction as he added. "More than you can imagine."
His lips were saying those words but his eyes were showing it. He looked really sincere, and it made my heart flutter.
Don't do this to yourself Fay, he's up to something.
His eyes moved back to a smiling Melissa. "Grandma, I don't know what came over me yesterday... I don't know what has been wrong with me... But- I regret my actions... All of them... I know I haven't been at my best behavior and I know that I have made you sad a couple of times, maybe even all the time. I apologize for that. I never meant to hurt you... I was blinded by my selfish desires and I didn't realize that I was hurting everyone around me. I'm so sorry grandma." He begged.
Melissa smiled down at him. "It's alright, El... I wasn't mad. I just wanted you to realize your mistakes and now that you have done that, I'm more than happy." She smiled, taking his hands and placing it above mine. "I want you both to be happy too." She smiled from me to Elroy.
Elroy's eyes met mine as he replied to Melissa. "I promise you this, grandma... I'll do whatever it takes to make Fay happy, to make our relationship work. To make up for all my past mistakes."
My heart made that annoying flutter jump again.
You have to be strong Fay... Elroy is aiming at a perfect goal and from the looks of it, he's setting his path for winning.
He smiled at me. "I really do hope you give me a second chance to prove to you that I can be better. I really want to make this work Fay- not just for grandma but for you and me." He said.
Or is he?
