Billie Ellish, see me in a crown, played in the background of the studio as I struck poses and had fun, acting like a villain. I was putting on a long black gown, my make up was done perfectly, with a black theme. I looked like an upgraded malificent.
Lucas laughed at some awkward poses I made. It was just like old times now.
Few hours later, after changing into five outfits and different makes ups, we were done. It was pretty late.
"You headed home now?" Lucas asked, coming into my changing room, I had taken off my make up, checking to see any text from Elroy, but there was none, I thought he would text, probably to ask me if I was done, cause it was past work hours.
Or wasn't he a tini bit worried that I was spending time with another man? Or did he mean what he said about not being bothered?
"No, I think I'd go back to the main room."
"Main room? Why?" Lucas asked with scrunched brows.
"To see Elroy."
"Things seems to be going pretty well between the both of you." Lucas said, smiling sadly.
"Surprisingly, yes." I muttered. "We're okay."
"I'm glad, Fay. All I want is to see you happy. Your happiness is all that matters."
I smiled. "Thanks Luke."
"You're always welcome."

Carter was about leaving when I arrived at the main room.
"Hey Carter, leaving already?"
"Yeah, but the boss is still in." He said. "He'll probably be working late."
I nodded. "That's okay, I just wanted to check on him anyway."
"Great, I've got turkey legs to attend to, see you tomorrow." He said, pulling his car keys from his key holder, then grabbed his jacket.
"Okay, night." I said, moving to Elroy's door, but I was stopped by Carter.
"Heads up." Carter said. "He's in a really bad mood. So you should probably watch what you say."
"Whoa, what happened?" I asked.
"Nobody knows, just... Thread lightly." He said.
"Thanks Carter."
"Always welcome." He said before dashing out.
I pushed open the door without knocking.
It was becoming an habit, and I wasn't going to stop it anytime from now. It actually felt like I was the only one who had the right to enter without knocking, he had never complained about it.
He was going though files when I came in. He raised his head a little. When his eyes met mine, he frowned and within, seconds, he turned back to his work.
Was I the cause of his anger tantrum?
"Hey, Carter told me you'd be working late, do you need help?" I asked, making my way to his table, I picked up his round thinking ball, pressing into it.
"No." He simply said, not raising his head.
"Have you had dinner yet?" I asked.
"No." He replied.
"Do you even plan on having dinner?"
"No." He answered.
I bit my lower lip. "Well, I'm hungry, we should go get dinner together, it's pretty late."
"You can go without me, I'm not hungry." He said, picking up his office pen, then he wrote out something on a paper.
Okay... Now I'm convinced, he wasn't in a good mood.
I'll try again.
"You should call it a day, El. You look like you need some rest." I offered again.
"I'm good." He said, still not looking at me.
I was beginning to get worried now, this morning, we were fine, why the sudden change of mood, towards me?
It's not just you, Fay. Carter said he was in a bad mood, even before you arrived.
"What's wrong, El? Did something happen?"
"No. Nothing happened." He said, still not looking up at me.
"Did I do something wrong? Is that the reason for your one word answers and cold behavior?"
He paused, sighed, then finally looked up. "You didn't do anything wrong, Fay... I'm just busy, I've got a lot of files to review before the pre merge program, it's around the corner and it feels like I haven't done anything. I'm only trying to cover up. That's all." He said.
I could see the stress in his eyes, he wasn't in a bad mood, he was only tired, and a tired Elroy, wasn't a happy one. Trust me, I'm speaking from experience.
"How did the shoot go?" He asked, focusing on the file again.
"It was okay." I said. "Wasn't all too stressful."
"What theme?"
"Evil goddess." I chuckled.
A smile pulled at his lips. "You and Lucas seem to be pretty close, uh?"
"Yeah, like I said, we're just friends." I shrugged.
"I know, I was just wondering if he considers you as just friends? You both were pretty close before we started dating and all..." He said, opening up another page in his file.
Why was he bringing this up now?
"He does considers me as a friend. Okay, maybe we were about to get together before I met you. But that was a long time ago." I said.
I was only trying to ease every worry he had. No matter how much he denied it, I knew he was slightly jealous, I could see it in his eyes and expression.
But I knew him well enough to know that he would do anything to prove that it didn't affect him at all.
"Okay. Not that I care or anything... I just don't want crazy rumors and stuff."
I smiled. "I understand. How's the merge designs coming up?"
He signed on a file. "I've got just two collections for now."
"You're to create five, right?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"There's not much time left. What's taking it so long?" I asked.
He dropped his office pen. "I don't know. I'm still working on it, my ideas are currently betraying me. I'm pretty sure Yvonne is all done with hers, right?"
"Yeah, almost all companies nominated for the merge program has finished theirs."
He groaned. "I'm working on it."
"Do you need he-"
"No, I don't." He rushed out, looking up at me "I've never needed help and I won't start needing it now." He said.
He might have changed, Romantically. But his ego and pride remained intact.
"Okay." I replied, knowing exactly what I could do to help him. And I would, with or without his consent.
"Grandma called," he said, going back to focus on his work. "She wanted to see you, so I told her you'd come over tomorrow, do you think that's possible?" He asked.
"Yeah, but that would be late... I have an appointment with my therapist in the morning." I said.
He paused again, raising his head to stare at me. "You are seeing a therapist?" He asked slowly, surprise, shock and amusement met his brows and eyes.
"Yeah, I thought you knew that." I said, going over to sit in the chair in front of him, my legs were killing me, begging for rest.
"If I did, would I be asking?" He said. "Why are you even seeing a therapist? Since when?"
I fought the urge to frown. "I started seeing a therapist since the day you told me that I was mentally unstable and that I needed medical help." I said, remembering that day like it was only yesterday.
"I never said that." He said, probably not remembering. "And even if I did, I only said it out of anger, I say a lot of things out of anger."
"Huh uh." I muttered.
"Oh, come on Fay, you gotta admit it, you get a little annoying sometimes, pissing me off every chance you got... You can't deny that." He said, speaking the complete truth.
"Fine, I can't... But then you told me that I needed help, and I actually did realize that therapy helped a lot, ever since I started seeing Karen, I noticed some changes."
"Hm." He said, then suddenly, his brows came together, almost as if he just understood the meaning of my sentence. "Hold on a minute, did I hear you say, Karen? As in Karen Holster?"
"Yup." I said, popping the 'p' "You know her?" I asked, knowing fully well that they went to the same college.
"Yeah, from... College." He said, having this far off look.
"That's nice, how small is this city huh?" I said. "Damn El, I'm hungry."
He snapped out of his thoughts. "What do you want me to do about that?" He asked, sounding a little bit cold, like he used to. But I wasn't bothered by it... Old habits they say, dies hard.
"Let's head home." I said.
"I've got things to do Fay."
"Can't you do them tomorrow?" I asked.
"I don't do my work like that." He said.
"Okay, fine... Let me help, tell me what to do with these files." I said, motioning to the untouched files on the table.
"No way in hell am I going to let you handle my work for me. I don't even let Carter handle the file job."
"Well, I'm not Carter... I'm pretty smart... Just tell me what to do... That way, we can work together and then head home together."
He shook his head. "I don't makes mistakes Fay, so, no."
"I won't make mistakes. I promise." I said.
"I can't let you handle my work, Fay." He said again.
Sighing, I raked my hands through my hair. "Okay, fine... I'll just ask Lucas for a ride. I guess he's still in the building." I pretended to make an attempt to stand, but then, he picked a file and slammed it in front of me, forcefully and quickly, almost as if he was scared I was gonna leave him.
I tried my best to hide the small smile grazing my lips. "Better." I said. "So, tell me... What should I do with the file again?"
