FAY
I would have hated myself if I had allowed the alarm wake Elroy. He looked so peaceful in his sleep. His face was even more beautiful, less scary, more swoon worthy.
I smiled, picking my phone from the bedside table then clicked on the camera, I wanted to take a picture of him, his sleeping figure was something I'd love to capture, he was breathtakingly good looking.
After admiring him for a little bit longer, I took the picture, smiling when I noticed it came out beautiful.
"Delete that." His sleepy voice made me jump in fright... I looked back at him, his eyes were closed and his arms still rested on his forehead.
Was he awake?
"Are you awake?" I asked softly and carefully.
He didn't reply.
I waited for like three seconds, when he didn't reply, I decided to move away, so I wouldn't wake him.
But I was pretty sure I heard his voice... Or was I just hearing things?
Not wanting to ponder on my lame thoughts, I moved away gently. I didn't go far though, cause I felt his grip on my wrist, the wrist where I held my phone.
I gasped in shock, turning towards his direction, there was a frown etched to his brows as he gave me a look I knew all too well.
The look of irritation..
Did I forget to mention that Elroy wasn't a morning person, it's almost like, he sleeps then wakes up with a bad mood, like he had lost a boxing match in his dreams. I knew better than to get on his wrong side whenever he was just waking up, but then... He wakes up even before I do. Today was sorta different.
Before I could comprehend what was happening next, He pulled my phone out of my grip, scroll to my gallery, then deleted the picture. After that, he placed the phone back in my hand, before releasing my wrist.
"Why did you do that? It was a good picture." I complained, still surprised by the fact that he knew I was taking a picture of him, and how fast he took the phone from me, deleting the beautiful picture.
"Isn't staring enough for you? Why do you need a picture?" He asked, rubbing his eyes like a kid as he began to sit up.
"Staring isn't enough for me, and it's just a picture, I like taking pictures of things I find adorable." I blurted out.
"Well, I don't like it." He snapped. "Pisses me off." Frowning, he took the covers off of himself forcefully, then stood up, without another word, he made his way to the bathroom.
I shook my head. What the hell did I do now? It was just a picture!
Was this how each morning was going to look like? I mean, it's not every time I'd love to take a picture of him but- if he wants me to trust him like he said, he should at least try to stop being rude every morning... It's a bad energy, for him, for me and for our relationship.
Few minutes later, he came out of the bathroom, his eyes were more brighter, but a frown was still etched to his brows as he made his way to the walk in wardrobe.
"El." I stopped him, standing up.
His shoulders tensed up, I was sure he was going to ignore me and go in anyway, but then he turned, proving me wrong. "What?" He asked. "I'm already late for work, thanks for not letting the alarm ring for a minute more."
I rolled my eyes. "You looked like you needed the rest." I said.
He didn't reply after that, but he was still staring, probably waiting for me to speak again.
And I wanted to, but the look of impatience on his face told me to just let it go, but I wouldn't let his intimidating look stop me. "This isn't a good start." I said.
He raised a brow. "What are you talking about?"
"You want me to trust you, right? You want to start over, you want this relationship to work right?"
He didn't reply, just stared.
Stop talking, Fay.
"This isn't the right way to go about it."
"What did I do wrong." He asked, almost immediately I finished talking. His face showed no expression, his question didn't sound like it was meant to be a question, but a statement.
I swallowed. "You don't just wake up and act all rude like you used to do. You don't just look at me like a pest or an irritating bug. You don't just talk like I attacked you in your dreams or something. I was expecting to at least get a good morning from you, or maybe even a smile or a simple compliment."
He looked away for some seconds before turning his gaze back to me, making my heart skip a beat.
"You don't listen to me." He said. "I've told you countless times that I hate pictures, I hate mirrors, anything that reflects my image."
"Yeah, that's why we have your pictures in almost all magazines in freaking world."
"That's for the public, you can check my phone if you want to, I don't have personal pictures. I don't know why you like defying me. when I tell you I don't like something, I don't like it." He stated.
"Then that's one of the things you'd have to change... It's wrong El."
"Why would I change my personality to please you."
I gasped, feeling his words hit straight into my heart.
"Like, I don't get it, fine, I want to change, I want to make this relationship work, I want to be the perfect boyfriend, yadda yadda. But don't expect me to change just because you don't like somethings that I do."
I blinked. "I'm not asking you to change your personality to please me. I'm asking you to adjust."
He sighed. "That's how I am, Fay."
"Can't you at Least try? I remember, just yesterday, you told me that it was okay to tell you if you are going on the wrong track. That's all I'm doing. Okay... It's your job to retrace your steps. Just know that I'm not and will never ask you to change." I said.
He raked his hands through his hair, looking pissed and at the same time, guilty.
I tried to walk away, but he pulled me back to him, not roughly, but softly. "I'm sorry." He said. "I'm not thinking straight, you know better than anyone how I act every morning... I just can't help it."
I shrugged from his grip. "It's fine."
"No... It's not." He said, rubbing a hand down his face. "I didn't mean to be so harsh."
"It's fine, honestly." I said.
Was it fine? Hell no! Am I going to pretend that it was fine so he could just leave me the hell alone? Hell freaking yes!
"I'm sorry if I hurt you."
"You didn't." You did. "It's okay." It's not.
There was a short silence before he spoke.
"Are you seeing grandma today?" He asked, dropping the topic.
"Yeah... I should get ready."
"Hm. I also have an appointment."
"Okay." I muttered, walking away from him, before saying. "You should also get ready, you're running late."
And that people, was how the day began.
Wrong from the start.
