What could be taking him so long in there? What could they possibly be talking about?
Damn it.
I didn't even know if Elroy was mad at me. Damn his look of indifference.
The moment he told me to go wait in the car, I smelt trouble. I knew he wanted to confront Lucas but then again, why? I thought I told him that Lucas and I were just friends? Why doesn't he just listens?
Oh God, I hope he wasn't going to say something horrible to Lucas. Lucas and I didn't do anything wrong. I was only helping him with his sister's invitation card. I didn't even know time had gone by pretty fast.
I bit my lower lip, looking out the window.
There was no sign of either of them. Maybe I should just go back in.
No... Elroy asked me to wait here, and the last thing I wanted was for him to get mad at me again. We just sorted out an issue. I didn't want to bring up another one.
But what could be taking them so long?
Oh God, I hope I haven't gotten Lucas in trouble. Then again, Elroy didn't seem angry when he walked in... He even smiled at me.
God! I'm going to die of anticipation-
The door to the drivers side of the car, pulled open, making me jump in my seat.
Elroy climbed in, slamming the door beside him. The atmosphere in the car was undeniably tense. I gulped hard. "What took you so long?" I managed to let out.
His hands were visibly shaking when he took the keys to start up the car.
I furrowed my brow in worry. He looked pale, but still I could see little beads of sweat on his forehead. "El? What's wrong?" I asked, worry soaking my words.
"Nothing. Why?" He asked.
"You're pale and- and your hands are shaking." I pointed out.
The engine of his car roared to life. He gripped the steering wheel until his knuckles grew white as we pulled out of his private garage, out to the road.
"Okay, seriously. What the hell happened in there?" I asked him.
"Nothing." He repeated, trying his best to keep cool but it was obviously not working. He was still, his eyes were too focused on the road and I was honestly worried. This was the expression Lucas was expected to have after conversing with him. Why does Elroy look like the victim?
-
ELROY
Lucas had me where he wanted me, and he knew it. I was like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode, and like he said, he was waiting for me to pour out my anger and frustration on Fay. Almost like he had everything planned out.
I tried my best to focus on the road, to stop myself from saying anything that would make me flare up.
I knew I couldn't control my tongue whenever I got angry, I talk and say things without thinking.
My anger was what Lucas wanted. He wanted my anger so he could get Fay. I won't let him get her, never.
It was when my wiper automatically started working, that I noticed the down pour of rain around us.
Shit.
My heart beat became more and more unsteady.
Relax, relax... Just breath...
He was so wrong, so wrong if he thought he could mess with my head. Fact now is, I can't even fire him, If I did, he'd ruin my life. He'd ruin everything.
I can't let that happen, and at the same time, I can't let him fool Fay any longer. By the looks of it, he didn't just care about her, he loved her, dare if I say, he was obsessed with her.
"Did something happen between you and Lucas?" Fay's voice broke into my crazed thoughts.
"Fay-"
She cut me off. "Listen, I know you don't like the guy but- I swear to you, we're just friends. I don't know what you saw that is making you act like this... But whatever it is, I can assure you, it wasn't what it looked like. Lucas only thinks of me as a friend and that's exactly the same feeling I have for him... There is nothing more going on."
"I know." I managed out.
"Well it doesn't seem like it. What happened in there El? Please don't- don't tell me fired him."
I honestly wish I could Fay.
"No, I didn't."
"Then you definitely said something to hurt him." She dared to say.
And just like a ticking time bomb... I exploded. "What? Why the fuck would you think that?!" I yelled.
She gasped. "Why the hell are you yelling? I'm only trying to clear things up El. You said something to him didn't you? Then maybe he got pissed and gave you a reply that made you mad at him and then you probably punched him, that's why you have shaky hands."
My eyes widened as I glanced at her direction. "Excuse me? Why do you always think the worst of me? Why and what would I possibly gain from hitting him?" I gnarled.
She's just so unbelievable. The bastard she's trying to support was an asshole who was plotting a so-called revenge on me because-
"What happened in there?" She asked, blocking my thoughts. "What did you do to him?"
I clenched my jaw so hard, biting back my words.
"I'm talking to you El? You came in here acting like the victim, when you probably just-"
"Shut up, Fay! The fucking bastard you're busy supporting is a conniving beast, intent on taking you from me, you're so dumb that you're obviously oblivious of that fact!"
"So what? This is a matter of jealousy?" She asked indignantly.
"Yes, yes Fay. I'm freaking jealous of him. Is that what you want to hear?" He asked. "It's obvious that you take a liken to him... I saw how you acted. Do you know how long I'd been standing there? Watching the both of you?"
"We weren't even doing anything."
"Yeah, you weren't." I said.
She went quiet, but I could tell she was equally pissed at me.
I can't even believe she's supporting him. Can't she see it? Can't she see that the bastard had the both of their futures planned out?
That wasn't the only thing bothering me. Lucas knew I couldn't stop him from getting close to Fay, he knew he had me under his chains and the fact that Fay kept on supporting him, made me want to just- just - argh!
"I don't want you to see him anymore." I blurted out.
She turned to my direction with a deep frown. "What did you just say?"
_
Fay's pov
I couldn't believe what he just said, was he kidding me?
"I said, I do not want you to see him again." He broke down his words.
His brows were etched in a deep frown as he concentrated on the road. I could tell he was angry, due to the rate at which his chest was heaving up and down, up and down. Not much cars were around the place we were. It was the main road that led out of the city to his house.
"He's a threat to our relationship and I don't like him with you." He added. "So therefore, I want you to cut all ties with him."
"No. No Elroy, you can not tell me who to be friends with... I will not let you dictate my life for me... I honestly thought we had passed that stage but it's obvious you still think that you can meddle with my life." I said, angrily.
"This is not the case of meddling Fay. We are in the process of putting this relationship back on track, Lucas is pulling us back."
"Pulling us back? How? Please enlighten me! How is he pulling us back?!" I yelled at him.
"He doesn't have good intentions with you! He wants you- he loves you."
"Yes he does! He loves me, I know that! But he is aware that I belong to someone else, he's not putting action into his feelings."
"He is Fay, you're just not seeing it. He is not a good guy Fay- I don't know how to make you see it!"
I can't do this- no no- just no. "Stop the car." I said out of no where.
He glanced at me. "Why?" He asked.
"Stop the damn car El! I can't be in here with you."
He turned the car sharply out of his lane, down to the side of the road.
Before he turned off the engine, I was already diving out of the car, into the down pour of rain.
I hugged myself, walking with fast pace down the road. I was safe from the eyes of people cause there was no one around there. Cars weren't moving as usual, maybe it was because today was a Friday and most people would either be home by this time or maybe they were at the club, making themselves feel better, something I'm definitely not.
"Fay!" I heard Elroy's voice from behind me. "What the hell are you doing?!"
"Going home!" I yelled over the rain.
Due to the rain, I didn't hear his close footsteps until I was yanked back by his strong grip. "Are you out of your mind?! It's an hour walk! It's pouring heavily! Get back in the damn car!"
My hair was soaked now, his was also wet. I noticed his suit wasn't in sight. Did he even wear a suit to the car?
His tie was also no where to be found.
"I don't care! I'd rather walk home than to drive in the same car with you, while you try to control my damn life! I'm not going to stop seeing Lucas, no matter what you do or say!"
"He doesn't have good intentions with you Fay!"
"And you do? Do you honestly have good intentions with me?" My breathing became unsteady. "Swear that you aren't with me because you got tired of the endless fighting! Swear it!"
"Fay, you'll get sick, just let's get home first, we'll talk about it, I'll tell you everything-"
"Answer my damn question El!"
I shuddered due to the cold.
"Fay come on, you'll get sick-"
I broke down in sobs. "Stop pretending like you care about me! I know you don't! I'm tired of this... If you really do care about me, you won't lead my life for me."
"I care about you- I care about you Fay, and I'm not trying to control you... Lucas is not- is not a good guy. Trust me- I'm not trying to be- to be-" he stammered, almost as if he was trying to catch his breath but it kept on failing him. "... to be controlling. I swear. He doesn't have good intentions for us... This is what he wants- this."
I frowned. "You are the one who doesn't have good intentions for us... You are the one tolerating me because you don't want the endless drama!" I yelled at him.
"Can't you see it? He's filling your head with all this nonsense! He wants you to think this and that is exactly what you're doing!"
"Then answer my question! You're doing this for your selfish reasons aren't you? Tolerating me because you think it's the best option!" I asked with trembling lips.
A car flew by, sweeping a new shudder attack through my body.
"Answer me!" I yelled. "Answer the damn question! You don't want to really work on this relationship do you?"
"I do!" He yelled back, raking his wet hair from his eyes. "I do Fay," he coughed. Breathing hard. "I want us to work... Fine- "
Was he hyperventilating?
"Fine- maybe- maybe I just wanted to seize the drama- but that was before- I'm sorry- I'm sorry I lied to you- just - let's get back- back to the car- please- the rain is- it's too much - please." He coughed again.
I calmed immediately, my lips trembling when I noticed he wasn't in a good state anymore.
He crouched, coughing endlessly.
I rushed to him. "El? Are you- are you okay?"
It wasn't normal, he looked like he was finding it difficult to breath.
"I can't - I can't-" he couldn't make it past his sentence.
Before I could comprehend what was happening, his legs failed him.
My eyes widened as he dropped to the ground, knees keeping him upright trying to cough air into his lung, but he was wheezing.
"Fuck! El!" I yelled, kneeling beside him. "What's happening! Wha-wha-wha-what do I do?" I asked in panic. Trying to lift him up, but I couldn't.
I had never been this confused and scared in my entire life. It was almost like he was having an asthma attack, but last I checked, he wasn't asthmatic.
He wheezed, his breath coming out in short gasps, at the same time shuddering due to the cold.
"El please tell me what to do." Tears poured down my cheeks like a flowing river. Never have I ever seen him in this state, looking so vulnerable. "I don't- I don't know what to do." I panicked.
His breathing became weaker.
"Do you- do you have an inhaler?"
He managed to shake his head.
"Shit! How can you not-"
He slumped in my arms. My eyes widened. It happened so fast, everything was happening so fast. He had stop struggling to breath, his eyes had dropped close. "El?"
Nothing.
"Elroy?"
Nothing.
Okay, calm Fay- think of something- anything.
I shifted my position so I could cradle his head on my chest. As I sobbed uncontrollably. "El please open your eyes- please."
I had never been in a situation like this.
I can't think of anything.
You need to relax... You need to think- think Fay- think.
"Oh my God... What do I do." I stroked his hair. "How was I supposed to know you were going to have an asthma attack- oh my God... What have I done?"
I gulped down tears.
I need to do something.
Checking his pulse, I noticed it was faint, so faint.
Help... I needed to call for help.
Why the hell is there no cars! Cars!
Yes! Cars!
I gently moved away from him placing his head on the ground. I stood up, rushing to his car.
I pulled open the door, only to find his phone ringing. Damien.
I pulled the phone from his phone holder, quickly answering the call. "Damien." My voice came out cracked and breathless.
"Fay? Why are you answering Elroy's phone? Wh- Are you crying?"
"I need help, its- it's Elroy." My voice said it all.
I heard shuffling in the background. "What the hell happened to Elroy?"
I sobbed, "You have to send help- he just stopped breathing. Please hurry."
