Eight years into marriage, Manhattan's infamous trust fund brat publicly announced he was giving half his empire to his wife, Charlotte.
His favorite mistress was so FURIOUS she ran into traffic and died instantly.
After her death, the bastard completely SNAPPED!
He turned all that rage on Charlotte, personally destroying her—throwing her in prison and watching her die.
THE SICK FUCK!
Given a second shot at life, Charlotte made a different choice—the tech genius who'd been crazy about her before, soon-to-be billionaire Adrian Blackwell.
One HUGE problem: she woke up right after rejecting his proposal.
And something way scarier?
That gut feeling told her she wasn't the only one who'd gotten a do-over...
No problem.
This time around, she'd destroy them ALL with her own brilliant game.
"Charlotte, since you've chosen Preston, I'm done. I won't bother you anymore. I wish you and Preston... all the best."
That familiar voice, broken and defeated, hit her ears. Charlotte's heart clenched as the pain washed over her.
She blinked hard. Her blurry vision slowly cleared.
Red roses scattered everywhere.
The guy holding the diamond ring stood there in his expensive suit, all broad shoulders and lean waist. He looked cool and untouchable.
In those deep, dark eyes, she saw her own twenty-three-year-old reflection staring back.
Charlotte's heart nearly stopped.
She was REALLY back! Right to the exact day she'd pushed Adrian away!
"See you around, Miss Pierce."
Adrian shut the ring box with a snap, swallowing hard, and turned to walk away.
"Adrian! Don't go!" Charlotte threw herself at him, wrapping her arms around his waist.
Adrian froze. His ears turned red.
He tried to pull her hands away. "Charlotte, you picked Preston. Stick with it. What's this supposed to mean?"
Preston's name hit her like a punch. All those awful memories came crashing back.
She could barely breathe.
Last time, right after Mom died, Dad moved his mistress and their kid into the house. The girl was only six months younger than her!
Dad only loved them. Charlotte lived like trash in her own home.
So she'd played both guys to escape that hell. Adrian and Preston.
Adrian was this brilliant self-made tech guy from nowhere. Preston was old money—born with everything.
She'd picked Preston for his name.
Preston was a total playboy, but she'd whipped him into shape. Under her guidance, he'd doubled the company's profits.
At the company's anniversary party, Preston announced he was giving her half his shares.
But on transfer day, his favorite mistress got so pissed she ran into traffic and got hit by a car.
After his sugar baby died, Preston lost it. He blamed her for everything, framed her for murder, and threw her in prison.
Right before she died, Preston told her something that destroyed her—Adrian had offered everything he'd built, his entire fortune, just to buy her freedom.
That's when she finally got it. How deep Adrian's love really was.
Her whole life, she'd never cried. Not when Dad ignored her, not when her stepfamily treated her like dirt, not when Preston used her like a tool while screwing around with other women.
But when she saw Adrian's note—"My biggest regret is not protecting my bright moon"—she broke down completely.
Preston still wouldn't let her go.
Finally, she died in what looked like a prison "accident." Her eyes never closed.
Her last thought? If she got another chance, she'd never let Adrian go again.
Snapping back to reality, Charlotte pushed down the hurt and said quickly, "No, I was totally blind before. I mistook trash for treasure. I don't want him anymore. Adrian, I choose you!"
The last bit of hope died in Adrian's eyes. He pried her hands off and said coldly, "Miss Pierce, please stop messing with me."
Charlotte panicked, about to explain, when an angry voice suddenly cut through the air:
"Charlotte! What the FUCK are you doing?!"
Charlotte jerked her head around.
