The three of them just stared at the legal document, completely stunned.
Iris rolled her eyes hard.
"What's Skylar's deal now?" she snapped. "We didn't let her come to the wedding, so what? She sends this crap to Nate to show him how 'awful' we are? God, she's so desperate."
"I bet she's freaking celebrating now that my wedding went up in flames," she hissed.
Her parents ate up every word Iris said. Just like that, they were pissed at me all over again.
Mr. Grayson grabbed his phone. "I'm calling that ungrateful brat right now."
All he got was that robotic voicemail message. Nothing else.
"She's not even picking up!" he yelled. "Little princess thinks she's too good for us now!"
Mrs. Grayson snatched the phone. "Let me try." She dialed and got the same result.
"See? She's totally ghosting us," Iris jumped in. "Mom, Dad, after how she torpedoed my life, why don't we just cut her out of the family? For real this time."
Her parents nodded along, promising to get a lawyer on that document ASAP.
Iris could finally breathe again.
When they pulled up to the Grayson house, Iris spotted all the wedding decorations still hanging by the door and just snapped.
She went totally psycho, ripping everything down. Then she blew off dinner and locked herself in her room.
Her parents were freaking out, taking turns begging through the door.
"Baby, you've had such a nightmare day. You gotta eat something," her mom pleaded.
"Come on, sweetie. Whatever happens, just come out for a bite, okay?" her dad added.
After forever, Iris finally shouted back.
"I don't CARE what it takes—I'm marrying Nate!"
"Everyone knew about the wedding! If it doesn't happen, I'm gonna be a total joke!"
"You said you had a plan? Well, get your asses out there and FIX THIS!"
Her parents had zero choice but to haul ass to the Sullivan mansion.
They barely pulled up when these goons in black suits blocked them.
"Who the hell are you? This is private property!" the head goon barked, slapping an electric stick against their window.
Mr. Grayson stepped out, trying to look big. "Watch it, buddy—I'm your boss's future father-in-law."
"Better tell him we're here. You really want Sullivan to find out you turned us away?"
He thought that would shut the guy up.
Instead, the dude actually laughed in his face.
He looked the Graysons up and down like they were trash.
"Father-in-law?" he smirked. "Mr. Sullivan isn't even hitched. Where'd you pull that title from, your ass?"
"You're clearly full of shit. Get lost before I make you sorry!" He waved the taser around.
Mrs. Grayson, who'd been about to say something, zipped her lips real quick.
Mr. Grayson wasn't having it. He started hollering at the house: "Nate! Iris has an explanation! You gotta hear us out!"
"The whole damn city knows about the wedding! Cancel now and your family finds out—think about the blowback!"
The guards were about to grab him when some butler-looking dude rushed over and whispered to them.
They backed off immediately.
"You lucked out. Sullivan says he'll see you," the guard grunted.
"Me?" Mr. Grayson jabbed a thumb at his chest.
"Yeah, just you. She stays put and doesn't move a muscle."
Mr. Grayson knew better than to push it.
He hustled after the butler into the mansion.
