"Just in time, our family business is being transferred overseas." my father sighed. "We'll leave here with you."
In the quiet study late at night, the nib of the pen bled ink on the divorce agreement, like a wound cracking open in my heart.
Suddenly, my phone vibrated. Daphne's twitter post popped up on my screen.
A picture of Severin was sitting in his office chair, and she, in a short skirt, was wrapped around his neck.
The caption read is that [Mr.Valorian says the office is off-limits to outsiders, but looks like I'm the special case, huh~]
The image of him looking down with a faint smile pierced my eyes.
In my previous life, he had broken all his principles for me like this.
He couldn't eat spicy food but accompanied me to eat spicy dishes until he had a gastric hemorrhage.
He had severe germaphobia but still carried me on his back down the whole street even though I was reeking of booze.
He hated being in front of the camera but participated in a magazine interview for me...
I took a deep breath, drove away those images in my mind, picked up the divorce agreement and went out.
The Val Corporation building was still as magnificent as ever. As the elevator ascended, I was still pondering how to bring up the topic of divorce.
Passing by the president's office, Severin's assistant happened to walk over with some documents.
"Mrs.Valorian?" The assistant was clearly taken aback. "Are you here to see Mr. Valorian?"
"Yes." I clenched the divorce agreement in my hand. "I need him to sign a document."
The assistant's gaze lingered on my pale face for a moment.
"I'm just about to go in. Let me take it in for you."
After hesitating for a moment, I handed the agreement to him. "Thank you."
He took the file and tucked it among a stack of papers, then gently knocked on the door.
The moment the door opened, my blood froze.
I saw my husband kneeling on one knee, gently massaging Daphne's foot who was sitting on the sofa.
The girl was wearing a short skirt, her fair calves resting on his knees, with a sweet smile on her face.
"Mr. Valorian, these documents need your signature." The assistant's voice made him look up.
He was so busy massaging her feet that he didn't even glance at the documents before signing them.
I let out a bitter smile.
In my previous life, when I sprained my ankle playing badminton, he had also knelt like that to apply ointment to me, being careful not to blow on it too hard for fear of hurting me.
"Mrs. Valorian, it's done."
When the assistant handed the agreement back to me, I saw the bold signature of "Severin Valorian," the ink still fresh, like a new wound.
A bitter taste rose in my throat. I thanked the assistant and turned to walk away.
While waiting for the elevator, I made a phone call to the lawyer.
"We've both signed it. How long will it take to get the divorce certificate?"
"Mrs. Valorian, only five days for the process."
I nodded. Just as I hung up the phone, Severin voice suddenly came from behind me.
"What divorce certificate?"
