"The guy won't even look at you. Why are you chasing him? Gonna stalk him?"
Preston again. Why was he everywhere?!
His grip was like a vice. Charlotte couldn't break free, so she glared at him.
"None of your damn business."
Something sly flashed in Preston's eyes.
Charlotte's stomach dropped.
Preston snapped his fingers. Two huge bodyguards appeared and grabbed her arms.
"Let go of me! Preston, what the hell are you doing?!"
Charlotte fought back in panic, but they forced her jaw open.
"Be good. Don't waste my special stuff."
Preston's voice was soft, but his hands were brutal as he shoved a red pill down her throat!
"Mmph—!" Charlotte tried to spit it out.
Preston held her tight and forced down a shot of liquor.
"Cough, cough..." The burning liquid seared her throat. Charlotte's eyes watered instantly.
Preston watched with satisfaction as her eyes went glassy, her cheeks flushed red, and her breathing got heavy.
He waved the bodyguards away and wrapped his arm around her waist.
"Come on, let's go sober you up." Preston smiled wickedly, half-dragging, half-carrying her toward the private room.
The drug hit hard, making her weak struggles look more like she was playing hard to get.
Through her haze, she spotted a tall figure at the end of the hallway.
Adrian.
His face was ice cold, staring hard at Preston's arm wrapped around Charlotte's waist.
"Charlotte!" Adrian's voice was tight as he strode over.
Charlotte struggled to get the words out. "Adrian, help—"
"Sorry you had to see this."
Her cry for help got cut off. Charlotte felt the arm around her waist tighten as that sleazy voice spoke above her head.
"This girl has no tolerance but loves to drink. Gets wasted and won't leave me alone, keeps saying she misses how we felt together in that PENTHOUSE SUITE, begging for round two."
Preston really emphasized "penthouse suite."
"No, that's not..." Charlotte tried to deny it, but only weak sounds came out.
"Shh, baby, don't make a scene. We've got company."
Preston gently wiped her tears, then looked up at Adrian's blazing eyes with a cold smile.
"Adrian, this is between me and my girl. You're way out of line here."
His words were crystal clear.
"Charlotte's gonna be my wife. You think I'd hurt her? Back off."
Adrian's outstretched hand froze in mid-air.
Time seemed to stop.
Finally, those tense fingers slowly curled back and dropped to his side.
The last spark of hope died in Charlotte's eyes.
She stopped fighting, letting Preston drag her like a broken doll into the private room.
The second the door closed, Preston threw her hard onto the leather couch.
The drug burned through her system, leaving her too weak to resist.
Preston's eyes went dark as he loomed over her, slowly undoing his buttons.
One by one.
Before she lost consciousness completely, the last thing Charlotte saw was Preston's twisted smile as he pressed down on her.
She didn't know how long had passed.
Charlotte's eyes struggled open to see the crystal chandelier on the private room ceiling.
Her awareness slowly returned.
Sharp, tearing pain shot through her body. Dark bruises covered her bare skin.
The disgusting smell in the air made her sick.
"Ugh..."
Charlotte couldn't stop dry heaving, but only bitter acid came up.
She shakily put on her torn clothes, stumbled to her feet, and staggered out of the club.
The parking garage lights were dim and yellow.
Just as she was about to collapse, she saw a familiar figure.
Adrian.
He was still here.
He leaned against his black Bentley, a long ash hanging from his cigarette. He'd clearly been standing there for hours.
Seeing her about to collapse, Adrian rushed over.
"Charlotte..."
Those long fingers reached out to her again.
In that instant, Charlotte remembered this same hand abandoning her, pushing her toward that devil Preston.
Like she'd been burned, she jerked back a step, dodging his touch.
Then she used every ounce of strength to straighten her spine and walked away.
Leaving that frozen figure standing alone in the night wind.
