In my past life, I died on the day I was at my absolute peak.
I had just won my third Best Actress award.
Dressed in a custom couture gown, I stood beside my childhood sweetheart and fiancé Finnian, at our extravagant engagement party, broadcast live to millions.
Then, he announced to everyone:
“I will never marry a fucking bully who tormented classmates back in high school.”
While I stood there in disbelief, Phyllis emerged from the crowd.
Tears in her eyes, she smiled up at me.
"Remember me, Ivetta? Phyllis Collins—the girl you tormented for ten years."
“You probably never thought that one day I’d be standing here, on equal ground with you.”
"But don't worry, I've forgiven you."
"The past is behind us now."
The livestream went viral. She shot to fame overnight.
Before I even had time to process, my brother Ulric and Finnian’s carefully arranged reporters swarmed in, cornering me.
"Miss Wintermere, is it true you still bully newcomers on film sets?"
"You were spotted at a gynecologist last week—did your promiscuity give you HIV?"
A crazed fan broke through the crowd, flinging sulfuric acid at my face. "Go die, you fucking bitch!"
The liquid hit, and the searing pain spread across my face like wildfire.
My vision never cleared again.
I fell from heaven into hell in the blink of an eye.
Coming back to reality, I loosened my grip.
Phyllis collapsed to the floor, barely breathing.
That innocent, pure face of hers now covered in filth.
I couldn’t hold back my laugh.
"Go ahead—cry, scream, show the whole world THIS face and go tell them I bullied you—DO IT!"
My voice rose sharply at the end.
The memory of the acid searing my face in my past life came flooding back, and I stomped on her face twice.
Then I turned and walked away.
Downstairs, my frined Viola was waiting for me.
“The gym class has been going on for ages, where the hell have you been?”
I shrugged casually. “Oh, just bullied a new student.”
She turned to me, eyes wide in shock. "WHAT?!"
I answered nonchalantly, “Mark Twain said, ‘When the whole world thinks you’re a bully, you better be one.’”
“Twain... actually say that…?”
“Doesn’t matter.”
We walked to the field, and we bumped into Finnian.
He wasn’t in my class, but everyone at school knew he was my fiancé, my childhood sweetheart.
Finnian’s eyes slid over my face and, almost imperceptibly, landed on Phyllis behind me.
“Hey, babe, why are you late? Oh, by the way, I heard there’s a new transfer student in your class?”
In my past life, whenever Phyllis smeared dirt on me, he’d make me apologize to her, brushing it off as nothing.
He acted like he was on my side, but in just a few words, he’d cemented my guilt as the bully.
That thought hit me, and without warning, I slapped him across the face.
“?!”
Viola gasped, utterly shocked.
But Finnian's expression barely changed—just a momentary coldness in his eyes before he acted like nothing happened.
He leaned in, affectionately rubbing my cheek.
“What's wrong, Ivetta? Bad day?”
