The day my father and Ulric were taken away by the police, my mother presented divorce papers.
Ulric stared at her in disbelief, roaring. "Mom, aren't I your son too? Why do you favor Ivetta? I'm your child as well!"
"Your father favored you, so I favor your sister," Mom sighed softly, sitting down and taking a sip of her whiskey.
"Fair, isn’t it?"
The projects that Wintermere and Larkspur Corps had snatched from me started falling apart.
Their list of charges now included financial crimes.
I took over the severely damaged Wintermere Corp and merged it with Lanshire.
Then I met with Morgan Larkspur, who had reclaimed control of Larkspur Corp.
Finnian’s older half-sister. And her parents' marriage had been a business arrangement.
She sat across from me in her sleek office, fingers casually curled around a steaming cappuccino.
"You know, when I was younger, I hated that woman. Thought she destroyed my family."
She let out a soft chuckle, shaking her head.
"Then I got older and realized—the only person responsible was my father. If he had kept his dick in his pants, Finnian wouldn’t even exist."
"Dying from his son—I guess that's karma."
I had contacted her a year ago, and we had struck a deal.
I would help her drive Finnian out of Larkspur Corp so she could take complete control.
In exchange, she would help me with various resources in the country.
Including this viral smear campaign—much of it was Morgan's handiwork.
"I'm curious though, how the hell did you know Finnian was involved in his mother’s suicide?"
I just smiled without answering—Because I’d lived through it in my previous life.
Before the sentencing, I visited my old acquaintances in prison. I saw my brother first.
He glared daggers at me from the other side of the glass.
I just smirked. "Oh, come on, brother. Don’t look at me like that."
"I know what you want to ask."
"Being driven out like a stray dog—I've already experienced that once. You didn't think I spent these years abroad just partying and living in luxury, did you?"
During the hardest times, I could barely catch fragments of sleep. Beyond classes and company matters, I was busy connecting with various contacts.
Searching for evidence of these three people's wrongdoings from the threads of my past life.
Their methods were so practiced and thorough, I knew this couldn't have been their first time.
Evil don't reserve their evil just for me—the darkness they created must have spread much further than I could see.
I was right.
"Ulric, Dad always said I wasn't like his daughter. He raised you tobe a fucking tyrant who would do anything to win—thankfully, I'm nothing like him."
The second person I visited was Phyllis.
Her hair was disheveled, her gaze haggard. Across the glass, her eyes burned with hatred.
No longer able to maintain her innocent act, she hysterically demanded to know why I hadn't revealed the evidence sooner.
"What's the fucking point of playing the victim?!"
"Oh, it's incredibly satisfying—otherwise why would you have done it for so long?" I stood up.
"It's much more fun to let you think you've won before pulling the rug out."
I could have released everything earlier. But that wouldn't have been enough.
Let her believe she'd triumphed completely, that she had everything.
Then, on the eve of her supposed victory, watch it all turn to ash before her eyes.
This is what I experienced in my past life.
Now it's your turn.
