If it were in the past, the staff would naturally only dare to follow Sean’s wishes due to his status.
However, Rachel had long decided to have her body cremated and buried next to her parents' graves when she chose euthanasia.
With the deceased being paramount, the staff didn’t care about much else. They hurriedly moved forward with their colleagues to seize Rachel’s body back.
In the struggle, it was unclear who accidentally pressed down on Sean’s injured left hand.
The intense pain forced him to instinctively loosen his grip, and in that instant, Rachel’s body was snatched away by the staff.
“No, no!”
Sean screamed in agony, wanting to rush forward and take her back.
But it was too late. He could only watch helplessly as Rachel’s body was pushed into the cremation furnace right before his eyes.
Bang!
The door of the cremation furnace slammed shut in front of him.
Pfft!
Sean could no longer hold on, spitting out a mouthful of blood before collapsing into darkness.
"Mr. Harris!"
In just one night, the entire city was buzzing with rumors that Sean had gone mad.
First, he ran away from his wedding. Then, he locked himself in his room, clutching a maid’s urn and refusing to come out.
Seeing their daughter treated this way by Sean, Father and Mother Brown were so angry that they immediately wanted to call off the engagement.
Xena was naturally unwilling. He was the one she had waited for her entire youth.
To ask her to give up so easily was simply impossible.
So, disregarding her parents' opposition, she insisted on coming to the Harris family.
After all, Xena was still Sean’s fiancée in name. Even though the wedding had failed, becoming Mrs. Harris was still a certainty.
Therefore, the Harris family’s butler didn’t dare to stop her, only watching as she went upstairs.
Creek-
The door to the room slowly opened, and thick curtains blocked out the sunlight, leaving Xena unable to see clearly what was inside the room.
Xena clenched her fists, steadying her emotions, and tentatively called out, “Sean?”
But there was no response.
Xena hesitated for a moment. Just as she was about to step inside, a deep voice suddenly rang out, “Leave.”
The simple two words caused Xena to turn pale.
She had been pampered her whole life, and no one had ever dared to chase her away, especially not Sean.
Fueled by anger, Xena immediately flipped on the light switch.
As the room lit up, she finally saw the man sitting on the bed.
Sean looked utterly dejected, with stubble covering his chin, and his bloodshot eyes coldly staring at her.
The chill in his gaze made Xena’s heart skip a beat, but she still mustered the courage to step forward.
In the next moment, a glass bottle suddenly shattered at her feet.
With her scream, Sean stood up: “Leave, don’t disturb Rachel’s rest.”
The name “Rachel” was like a lit fuse, instantly setting Xena off.
“Rachel, Rachel, it’s always Rachel!”
“She’s already dead! Why can’t you forget her! Have you considered how I, as your fiancée, feel?”
“Do you know how embarrassed I was when you abandoned me at the wedding, leaving me in front of all the guests?”
Just thinking of the gossip and mocking glances from the guests at the wedding made Xena feel an overwhelming sense of grievance.
Her eyes reddened as she choked, “They were all talking about me, saying my husband abandoned me for a maid.”
As she spoke, tears began to fall, but her pitiful appearance did not evoke any sympathy from Sean.
He only calmly corrected her, “Rachel was not my maid, she was my first love, my white moonlight.”
“What?” Xena froze, quickly pretending to have no reaction.
But Sean saw right through her acting: “What are you pretending for? Didn’t you already know long ago?”
“You knew she was my true love. You knew she donated a kidney to me. You knew I could never forget her.”
With every word, Xena’s face paled a little more, and her clenched fists began to sweat, but she still refused to admit it.
“No, no, Sean, I really didn’t know. The kidney… it was me who donated it.”
Looking at Xena, pale as paper, Sean only felt a sense of ridicule.
Rachel’s death had already drained him of so much energy. He retreated to his bed and collapsed back into it.
“Go back. Don’t come looking for me again. As for our wedding… forget it.”
