Knock knock.
At that moment, the door was gently knocked on. Sean’s mother slightly pushed the door open and said, "Sean."
Sean moved his hand and propped himself up, struggling to stand. "Mom."
Seeing her son unsteady on his feet, Sean’s mother hurriedly stepped forward to support him. "Sean, there’s something I need to talk to you about."
Meanwhile, at the Spencer household, Rachel, who was reviewing her textbooks at the desk, suddenly heard a knock on the door.
With both her parents away, Rachel put her book down and walked toward the door.
The moment she opened the door, Sean’s face came into view.
Rachel instinctively tried to shut the door, but Sean quickly stuck his hand in the crack of the door, making her nervous, so she reluctantly opened it again.
"What do you want?"
Her tone remained cold, but Sean could still detect the hoarseness in her voice, a sign that she had been crying.
His heart softened, and he instinctively reached out to pat her head, but remembering their status, he clenched his hand into a fist instead, unable to do it.
"Rachel, I want to talk to you properly."
That afternoon, Sean and Rachel talked for a long time, but because she had been through so much, her head felt dizzy from exhaustion.
All she remembered was that at the end, he told her, "Rachel, I want to tell you that love is more important than anything else."
After speaking with his mother that day, Sean finally understood the problem between him and Rachel.
Rachel truly loved him, but she didn’t believe that love alone could overcome all obstacles.
However, she had forgotten that love isn’t a singular thing; it holds so much more within it.
And today, Sean came to speak to her because he wanted to help her learn to understand love again.
But before they could do that, they needed to grow quickly, to protect this love.
So, Sean wanted to make a promise to Rachel.
In the next seven years, they could not be in a relationship, could not like each other, and maybe not even meet. They would work hard and fight to build their own futures.
Then, when they reached the peak, they would meet again, and he would give her a surprise.
Rachel looked into his eyes, filled with determination and trust, and her heart was filled with complex emotions.
She had so much to say, but in the end, she said nothing.
Rachel and Sean silently stared at each other for a long time.
Finally, she slowly raised her hand and hooked her pinky with his. "Alright."
Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, seven years had passed.
The airport was swarmed with reporters, packed to the brim with people waiting at the arrival gate, eager for one person to appear.
Finally, a woman in a red long dress and sunglasses stepped out.
Instantly, screams, cheers, and the sound of cameras clicking erupted, as if the whole airport was going to collapse.
"Rachel!"
"Rachel!"
"Rachel!"
Rachel was a little surprised. When she got off the plane, her assistant had mentioned that some fans would be there to greet her, but she hadn’t expected so many people.
Five years ago, Rachel had become the top scorer in SAT.
When it came to choosing a university, Rachel had immediately chosen the Royal Academy of Music at the University of London.
It was her dream in both her past and present life.
Had she not been entangled with Sean in her past life, had she not been caught up in the web of love and hate, she was certain she would have made a name for herself in the piano world.
But luckily, it wasn’t too late.
Since graduation, Rachel had joined the orchestra formed by her teacher and performed all over the world. After almost a year of experience, she had gained much and earned the love of many.
Thus, about a month ago, she started her global tour, achieving excellent results.
And now, after the call from her domestic fans, she began a tour in America.
Though she was already well-known abroad, she had never really made a breakthrough in the domestic market, so she was a bit anxious about her first performance in her home country.
But the moment she saw her fans occupying most of the airport, holding up light sticks and signs, cheering her name, her worries and unease melted away, replaced by a sense of determination.
