I was stunned for a moment, and Cole quickly explained: "Don't misunderstand, I mean your viewpoints attracted me."
I smiled: "I'm very happy to work with you."
That evening, I made a small wind chime for Mia in one go. The colorful five-pointed stars swayed, making clear tinkling sounds that the little one loved. Watching her happy expression, my heart also softened.
At this moment, the sound of a car came from outside the main gate. Mia stood up in surprise: "It must be Daddy coming home." Her tone was full of anticipation.
I quickly chased after her and saw that Mia was already in Braden's arms. "Did you miss Daddy?"
"Yes! Daddy, where's my gift?"
Braden went back to open his car trunk and took out an exquisite stuffed doll: "Do you like it?"
"Wow! I love it." Mia's big eyes sparkled as she nodded her little head.
Braden turned to me: "I'll make up for your gift tomorrow."
I declined blandly: "No need."
His eyes darkened, and he said nothing more, going to find scissors to help his daughter open her gift.
I got up and went upstairs, thinking that I had a pile of work waiting for me. With Braden back to play with his daughter, I could take the opportunity to get busy.
At dinner time, Braden looked at Mia: "Your grandmother has returned to the country. Do you want to see her tomorrow?"
I was slightly startled. So his business trip was to pick up Margaret and Olivia?
Mia's big eyes immediately lit up: "Really? Can I stay at Grandma's house?"
"Tomorrow is the weekend, I'll take you there." Braden reached out to ruffle her hair.
That night, after I coaxed my daughter to sleep, I planned to spend some time in the study. Suddenly I heard Braden's footsteps coming out of the master bedroom, followed by his voice answering the phone, gentle with a coaxing tone: "Don't be afraid, I'm coming right over."
"I'll be there in a few minutes."
My heart stirred as I listened to the car starting outside the window. From the villa to Linda's house should only take a few minutes...
At breakfast, Mary casually mentioned: "The master came home at two in the morning." After saying this, she secretly observed my expression.
I smiled at her: "Is that so?"
At this moment, Braden came downstairs, and Mary quickly went to the kitchen to get busy.
I styled Mia's hair in a cute and pretty way, put her in a pink down jacket, and Toby was happily playing around her, particularly close to her.
"Daddy, can I bring Toby with me?" Mia asked, blinking her big eyes.
Braden crouched down and adjusted the zipper of her down jacket: "Grandma's house is very big. What if we accidentally lose Toby? Let Mommy take care of him for two days at home!"
Although Mia wasn't very happy, she could only agree. Braden drove out, and I watched his car disappear from sight.
"Mary, I won't be eating lunch or dinner at home, so don't prepare for me." I turned to instruct Mary.
"Yes, ma'am."
Today the laboratory was hosting a welcome party for Cole, so dinner would definitely be outside. I also had to go to the laboratory at noon, so the school cafeteria would suffice.
I arrived at the medical university's laboratory building and had just gotten out of the car when I ran into Leo. Leo walked over excitedly: "Charlotte, good news! Now several companies have sent us collaboration proposals, all substantial large companies."
I smiled and nodded: "That must be hard work for you."
"Not hard work. By the way, is your husband interested in the pharmaceutical industry? Would he be interested in investing in pharmaceuticals?"
My steps paused, and a thought quickly flashed through my mind—I didn't want Braden to invest in this laboratory. I was silent for a moment before saying: "He probably isn't interested. He prefers investing in technology and oil."
"When you have time, you could also promote our pharmaceutical project to him. Maybe he'll develop an interest."
"Okay, I will." I agreed, but inwardly I was thinking that it would be best if Braden didn't notice this project.
At five-thirty in the afternoon, everyone from the entire lab team set out. Leo had booked a restaurant in a high-end hotel.
I was delayed by writing a proposal and then encountered a car accident traffic jam, not arriving at the hotel until around seven o'clock. Leo's phone call came again, and I answered: "I'm in the hotel lobby, I'll be right there."
Just as I walked into the elevator hall, I suddenly stopped. I saw Linda wearing a sexy champagne-colored evening dress, as if she was going to attend an important banquet.
Beside her was a tall man—Braden.
