Third person's pov
“Bella, Liam this side. Please… please come here. Chris needs you! He is out of control!”
Bella's heart hammered in her chest. She dashed out of her house without thinking twice. She gestured to their driver to drive the car.
Various negative thoughts swirled into her mind.
Why did Liam sound so tense? What happened to Chris? And why is she so worried? She hated the feeling that she is actually feeling bad for the person who kidnapped her!
Within half an hour she is outside the mansion. She ran inside the mansion where she saw Liam with a tensed expression.
“Liam!”
“Bella, Chris lost his mind after you left! He broke everything in his room and he… he-”
“He?”
“He cried Bella! I saw tears in his eyes!”
Bella was confused. What's wrong with crying? People do cry when they are hurt or when they lose their loved ones, she herself cries million times a day, sometimes without a specific reason too. Wait…. Loved ones? Bella thought do Chris really love her? Is he capable to love?
“Bella. You don't know he never cries. I have never seen him cry. He didn't even cry when his father died. He never cries, he was always so composed, he had anxiety, panic attacks, nightmares but he never cried.
Bella's breath hitched. Chris really cried for her? How can Chris fall in love with her after all she had done, after all her parents did to him.
She nodded and she walked to Chris's bedroom.
The door was not locked, it was slightly open and Bella peeked through it.
Her doe eyes widened and she let out a gasp, by the scene in front of her.
Chris was kneeling on the floor, the floor was covered with glass pieces. Maybe he broke the fancy showpieces made of glass. His hands were bleeding. And he was just sitting there like a lifeless statue. Tears rolled down occasionally, which he didn't care to wipe away.
His hazel eyes were lifeless. Bella's eyes glistened when she remembered how his hazel eyes shined when they were kids.
She let out a chuckle remembering those days.
“Your eyes look beautiful!” Little Bella said, pointing her index finger at the hazel eyed boy.
The ravenette boy lowered his gaze shyly.
“You… you look beautiful too.”
He said, smiling shyly.
“What's your name?”
“Chris! What's yours?”
“Bella!” The blonde girl said smiling.
And Chris loved her smile.
“Bella? As in Beauty and Beast?”
“You watch princess movies. Boys don't watch princess movies. Are you a girl??!! Hahaha!!”
Chris looked offended and he pouted adorably. Bella cooed and pinched his soft chubby cheeks.
“You really look like a princess…ummm. Bella.”
“I know.” Bella dramatically tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear.
“Would you… would you like to be… my friend?”
Chris asked badly, stuttering with hesitation.
“Yes.” Bella forwarded her hand and Chris did too. And they both shook their hands.
They both smiled at each other.
"You are my first friend, Bella!"
Chris closed his eyes, remembering the memory. He looked at his bloody hands and remembered how Bella's little hands felt on his, when he touched her for the first time.
Oh, he felt butterflies for the first time in his stomach for the first time. It seemed they were meant to meet but not meant to last.
He wished time was not different, he wished they were still teenagers who just became friends.
He smiled gently and touched his left chest with his right bloodied hands. It's beating…. It's beating by the mere thought of the blonde girl. But it's hurting, it's hurting more than he thought. He took many bullets near his heart, and had many near to death experiences. He had stitches on his chest, but it never hurt that badly.
It makes him feel that he can't be loved by his love. He got his love and he is grateful for that… that at least he got to feel the most beautiful and magical feeling in this world.
A feeling that can make anything in the world possible. But unfortunately it can't make a person love him back.
It's like filling water in a bucket with a hole. No matter how much he fills it, it'll never be full.
Everyone has a goal in their lives, Chris had a goal for revenge. He wanted to take revenge from the Smith's. He wanted Mr. And Mrs. Smith to know the feeling of what it feels like when our closed ones are snatched away from us.
He snatched Bella away from them. Hurting Bella was never on the plan. He didn't even mean it when he threatened to sell her, and the things he did to her was to hurt her parent's and maybe the anger he had for Bella. But hurt her, he would never be able to do that.
And the torture he did to Bella was just to convince himself that he hated her.
But sadly he ended up falling deeper for her.
And now there is no such goal. He took his revenge right? Now for whom is he living for? His mother's condition is so bad that she will not even care if her son is alive or not. Bella will be more than happy if he dies.
He glanced at the sharp glass pieces and took it.
He was about to cut his veins when a pair of soft arms stopped him.
He was above to shove the hand away when his hazel eyes met a pair of brown eyes and his gaze softened.
He felt his heart beating more wildly.
“This is how it feels to be in your love's arms.”
He gently touched his chest leaving red palm marks on his white shirt again.
It was beating faster than a few minutes ago.
He weakly brought his hands to tuck Bella's blonde hair behind her ear.
“Chris-”
He shook his head, gesturing her to keep quiet. His eyelids were threatening to fall but he forced them to stay open. He wanted to stay like this, in Bella's arms. He doesn't know what Bella will say the next moment, maybe it would hurt him more. But he wanted her warmth if it meant for at least a few more seconds.
Chris craved Bella. He not only wants or loves Bella. But he needs Bella to survive, he knew it deep within. Without Bella he will be falling apart slowly but he never ever wanted to force her to stay with him.
He wanted to apologise with all his will. But deep down he knew his apology will never be accepted.
Bella was about to say something when Chris collapsed, his eyelids half -closed, leaving all of his weight on Bella's lap. She panicked. Chris's body started shaking. .
“Panic attack!”
She gently rubbed Chris's arms and muttered his name.
“Chris. Breath!”
Liam entered the room after Bella called him out. Liam gently picked Chris and laid him on the bed.
And Bella tucked him under the duvet. Chris visibly relaxed.
Bella sat on the bedside, Liam exited the room leaving them alone.
After two hours, Chris opened his eyes, and his eyes met Bella's.
“Chris, we need to talk.”
