A month later
“So he told me he doesn't have time to have dinner with me!”
“Oh really? Girl you need to find someone better who would cancel all his plans just to meet you… who is willing to sacrifice everything just to get a glimpse of you.” Bella said dreamily, thinking of her hazel eyed boyfriend.
“Trying to make me jealous, huh?!” Richa asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
Richa and Bella are new friends working together… Andrew's father got transferred to another city but still the two friends kept in contact with each other. Richa was an introverted girl and Bella, being a social butterfly, befriended her.
“But he said he loves me. Maybe he is really busy.” Richa whined. “You are never busy for the person you love. Make him understand that and let him know who he is missing, you deserve better treatment, girl.”
“Yeah… I'll talk things out tonight.” Richa sighed.
“That’s my girl! So I'll get going. Take care.” Bella uttered as they got out of the hospital building.
“Where to? At your boyfriend's?” Richa asked, wiggling her eyebrows teasingly. “Any plans tonight babes as you were on night shift this week?” She continued.
Bella giggled and shook her head.
“I have plans with my friends. It's been long since I met them and I don't know when I'll be this free again. Next week I will have night shifts again so I'll spend time with my friends and family these four days.”
“Okay, enjoy.” Richa grinned and both the girls exchanged hugs.
“Really!?” Bella and Aria screamed together and Stella blushed. The people in the cafe made faces as the girl's were too chaotic, a complete contrast to the peaceful and cosy atmosphere of the cafe.
“Guy's calm down!” Stella whispered, giving apologetic glances to people around them.
“BUT HOW COME I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THIS!” Aria screamed and Bella covered her ear due to the screeching sound and Stella lowered her head as she gave up on apologising to other people.
“Calm down Aria. At least let Stella explain.” Bella whispered and Aria huffed.
“Okay go on.” Aria muttered, gritting her teeth.
“So Liam and I've been dating for a week. Actually I liked him when I saw him with Chris Sir for the first time but he was way out of my league. But we became close when Bells and I became friends. He picked me up with Aria whenever I wanted to meet Bells.” Aria narrowed her eyes and Bella was excited to know further.
“But I thought he didn't see me that way so I never tried and sometimes he dropped pickup lines. I ignored them even after I got butterflies because he is naturally funny.” Stella blushed and Bella cooed at her cuteness.
“He confessed last week and it felt like a dream to me and obviously I accepted.”
Aria smacked Stella's head and Stella looked at her apologetically.
“And you both bitches didn't care to tell me about it. Liam always shared everything with me but he didn't. I'll give him a piece of mind when I'll go back and you- you bitch you didn't tell me about your big fat crush on my brother. I would have helped you to woo him.” Aria huffed.
“Chill guys. At least they are a couple now. As an elder sister you have my blessings.” Bella said side hugging Stella.
Aria narrowed her eyes, “Oh you are sisters with her now. So what are we?”
“You are my favourite bitch… my partner in crime babes.” Bella winked.
“Aww come here, I wanna kiss you.” Aria made grabby hands as she was seated opposite Bella trying to pull her in an embrace. While Stella made a disgusted face.
“Ewww. You guys make me doubt your sexuality.” Stella whispered.
“I am head over heels for her but she chose to date that mafia.” Aria fake cried.
“Hey.. he is a CEO now.” Bella huffed.
“Yeah right so what's between you too?”
Stella asked, sipping on her coffee.
Bella fiddled with her fingers, “Actually we met last week and exchanged some phone calls, that's it.” Aria kept her coffee on the table with a thud sound and others again narrowed their eyes towards the girl's table and the manager hissed as he had warned the girls four times now to maintain the peace.
“What!? Is he not giving you time babes? I'll punch him on his handsome face if he hurts you.” Aria huffed.
“Calm down.” Stella whispered.
“Why do I have to calm down? I don't understand why do people come in relationships if they don't have time for each other, just fuck off if you don't have time to give your partner.” Aria started sipping her coffee aggressively.
“Actually I am the one who doesn't have time for Chris. He is always there for me.” Bella said hesitantly after the lecture Aria gave against the people who don't have time.
Aria gulped, “Babes it's your job. Your job demands time so you are not at fault. In fact Chris should understand this. He should not be desperate and treat you well when you are struggling to focus on your career.”
“Gosh Aria you flipped sides so quickly.” Stella said bewildered.
“Wherever my babes is, I am on that side.” Aria uttered winking at Bella.
Stella rolled her eyes.
“Okay so what's your plan tonight?” Stella asked, wiggling her eyebrows and Bella blushed.
“I am going for dinner with Chris tonight.” Bella uttered.
The sun had just dipped below the horizon, leaving behind a soft, dusky glow that bathed the neighbourhood in hues of purple and gold. The street lights flickered on one by one, casting gentle halos on the quiet suburban street. A black SUV stopped in front of Bella's apartment.
Inside the car, Chris adjusted the cuffs of his dark blue blazer. He glanced at the rearview mirror, giving his raven hairs a quick, final pat, then texted Bella that he is here.
He stepped out of the car and made his way up the path leading to the front door. He pressed the doorbell and waited, his hands casually finding their way into his pockets.
Moments later, the door opened to reveal Bella, a beautiful smile never leaving her rosy lips. She stood there, framed by the warm glow spilling out from inside the house. Her blonde hair fell in loose waves over her shoulders, and she wore a deep emerald-green dress that hugged her from just enough to catch the eye but remained elegant and understated.
Chris took a step forward and pulled Bella towards him in an embrace. He nuzzled in the crook of her neck and took a deep breath inhaling her sweet scent, “I missed you darling.”
Bella blushed and ruffled Chris's raven hairs, “I missed you too Chris. I'll make up with you in these four days.”
Chris's lips curved into a slow, appreciative smile as he looked her over, his eyes lingering just long enough to make her cheeks flush a faint pink.
For a second, they stood there, just looking at each other. A gentle breeze swirled around them, carrying the scent of jasmine from the garden. The world seemed to shrink down to just the two of them, the distance between the doorway and the steps suddenly feeling like an eternity.
“Let's go.” Chris smiled and Bella nodded.
He led her down the steps, and she could feel his gaze on her, protective and admiring. When they reached the car, he opened the passenger door for her, the gesture made her smile widen.
"Thank you," she said, slipping into the seat. As he closed the door and rounded the front of the car, Sophie took a moment to breathe.
Chris slid into the driver's seat and started the engine, casting a quick glance her way. "You look beautiful tonight," he said grinning.
“And you look handsome. My man is the most handsome ever.”
“My man, huh?” Chris smirked.
“Any doubts?” Bella asked. “Nope.” Chris replied.
I was about to end the book with this chapter but it got too long.
So in this chapter I wanted to show the bond between Bella's friends. Doesn't Bella seem like the luckiest girl on the planet. She has nice friends, a nice partner and her parents are better now too. But she has gone through so much to get where she is now so the difficult times you are facing will eventually get better.
