Undergraduate and graduate freshmen at Mandino University were scheduled to start on the same day.
As soon as Aria and Lily stepped onto campus, two enthusiastic volunteers approached them and took their suitcases.
"Hey, which major are you guys in?" one of the volunteers asked with a smile.
Lily responded politely, "Physics."
Aria didn't say anything, so the two assumed she was a physics student as well.
The curly-haired senior helping with Aria's suitcase grinned, his expression growing even more friendly as he looked at the two of them. "Fellow juniors! We're third-year physics majors. Let us take you to check in."
There weren't many girls in the physics department, and seeing two pretty freshmen made the volunteers a little excited.
He asked, "How about we exchange contacts? If you have any questions, feel free to ask us."
Lily thought for a moment, then nodded and took out her phone to add their contacts.
Seeing Aria unmoved, the two turned their gaze to her.
Aria said, "I'm not in the physics department, and I'm not a student."
The two looked a bit disappointed. "Oh, I see."
Then, they said, "Well, let's get going then."
On flat ground, the suitcase could be rolled.
The curly-haired senior instinctively pushed it forward, but suddenly stumbled. The suitcase tilted forward with his momentum. If not for his quick reaction, he might have ended up kneeling on the ground.
Seeing this, Aria said, "My suitcase is a bit heavy. I'll take it myself."
The senior blushed. "I can do it."
He grabbed it from the middle and continued pushing with a smile that looked effortless enough.
When they got to the check-in point, there was a flight of more than ten steps. The senior gritted his teeth and lifted it, nearly swearing.
He finally dragged the suitcase up and discreetly rubbed his sore arm, forcing a smile. "The physics department is over there. Let's go."
"Alright," Lily replied.
At the destination, Lily took out her admission letter and documents. The person in charge was a senior from the physics department. When she saw Lily's name, she blurted out in surprise, "Lily Saxon? Are you the top scorer from the college entrance exam?"
Lily smiled shyly. "Yeah, I just performed really well."
The two volunteers exchanged glances. They hadn't expected to be escorting the national top scorer.
The senior girl enthusiastically grabbed Lily's hand and asked to add her contact. The other two also quickly joined in.
And just like that, before even finishing check-in, Lily had already added five new contacts.
The senior handed her a dorm key. "Your dorm is on the 5th floor of Wisteria Residence No. 2. They know the way and will take you there."
Then, she looked at Aria. "Your turn."
Aria smiled. "I'm not a student. I'll leave after helping her get to the dorm."
The senior nodded. "Alright. You guys go ahead then."
The curly-haired senior had a pained smile. Aria found it amusing but didn't ask him to carry her suitcase again. "I'll take it myself."
Just as the senior was about to speak, he saw Aria easily lift the suitcase and stride ahead. His mouth fell open in shock.
He thought, 'Wow! She's a female Popeye! She could punch her boyfriend to the ground easily.'
On the way, Aria received a call from Martin. "Kiddo, where are you?"
Aria replied, "I'm already on campus. I'll head to you after Lily gets settled in."
"Which dorm is she in? I'll have someone meet you there, and then you two can come together."
"Wisteria Residence, Building 2."
"Alright. He'll call when he arrives."
Outside Building 2, Aria didn't follow them upstairs. She watched as the volunteers accompanied Lily, then turned and left.
Since the suitcase didn't roll easily, she simply carried it.
After a few steps, her phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number.
The other end said, "Hello, Ms. Saxon? Professor Schmidt asked me to pick you up. I'm just arriving at Wisteria. May I ask where you are…"
Before finishing the sentence, Elmore caught sight of a familiar face and fell silent.
Aria looked up. Their eyes met. Both silently thought, 'What a coincidence.'
Aria hung up and nodded politely. "Mr. Balton."
Elmore realized she really wasn't a student but a professor.
Last time, he thought he'd touched on a sore subject and had even apologized.
Elmore smiled. "Ms. Saxon, fancy seeing you again. Let me help you."
Aria didn't release the suitcase. "I can manage."
Elmore said, "Let me take it. Otherwise, if a student sees me letting a lady carry a suitcase, I'll be laughed at."
Only then did Aria let go. Elmore took it and immediately felt how heavy it was. He quietly exerted more strength.
Aria had good aim and surprising strength, which proved she wasn't ordinary.
Elmore broke the silence. "I just arrived today too. I'm on my way to see Mr. Schmidt. He asked me to pick you up."
Aria replied, "I didn't expect you to know Mr. Schmidt."
Elmore chuckled. "He's my uncle. He's the one who convinced me to return to Huthailia and join Mandino University."
Aria said, "Mandino University is a good place."
Elmore replied, "It really is."
His hometown was far better than abroad.
The two chatted as they made their way to Martin's office.
Elmore knocked on the door. "Uncle, I brought her."
Inside the office were not only Martin, but also three students and another female professor.
The female professor was once one of Martin's PhD students. She had taught for several years at a university before being recruited to Mandino University when Martin reached retirement age.
When she saw Aria, she extended her hand first. "Hello, Aria. I'm Sophie Morgan."
Aria replied, "Hello, Ms. Morgan."
Sophie said, "From now on, the two of us will be jointly mentoring these three students."
Sophie was in her early 30s, fashionable and well-groomed. She was clearly someone who enjoyed life. Aria had a good impression of her.
Helen and Larry, both transfer students from the pharmacology department who had previously volunteered with Aria, naturally greeted her.
Helen was quiet and well-behaved. Larry was tall and built like an athlete. The third student was from the chemistry department, a typical good-looking guy.
Noticing Aria's gaze, the boy politely introduced himself, "Ms. Saxon, my name is Mike Clancy."
Aria nodded slightly. "Mike, got it."
Martin said, "Aria, your office with Sophie is down at the end of the hallway, not far from here. You can drop off your things there first."
Sophie looked at Aria. "Let's go together."
"Sure," Aria replied.
Elmore lifted the suitcase. "I'll carry it over."
Aria smiled. "Thanks, Mr. Balton."
The three students stayed behind.
Martin looked at them. "If you have any questions about your two mentors, feel free to ask me."
Helen and Larry said they had no questions. But Mike hesitated for a moment, then said directly, "Mr. Schmidt, I'd like to request a change of advisor."
