Ethan Lowell didn't even blink as he handed Sophia Evans his number right in front of me.
I swallowed my disappointment, keeping my face carefully blank.
Over the next few days, Sophia wouldn't stop gushing about him—how they'd been texting, though he was "too busy" to reply much. I bit my tongue, offering only half-hearted responses.
Then came the news: the creep who'd been harassing Sophia had finally been arrested. Thrilled, she invited both Ethan and me over for a celebratory dinner.
Obviously, I said yes.
When I arrived at Sophia's, Ethan was already there.
His gaze locked onto me the second I walked in, taking in the low-cut dress clinging to every curve. "Damn, sis… is that really you?"
Sophia laughed. "What, never seen a beautiful woman before?"
Ethan smirked, eyes still roaming. "Honestly? You look like a damn movie star. Almost didn't recognize you."
Heat flooded my cheeks, but his shameless stare made me squirm. "Sophia, let me help you in the kitchen."
She shooed me away. "Nope! This is my masterpiece—no spoilers. Just relax."
Trapped, I perched on the couch, putting as much space between Ethan and me as possible.

I barely showed up these days, but when I did, his attention was relentless.
I tried to shove his hand away—only to gasp as he pinned me against the cushions. "Ethan, stop!"
His grip was iron. "Be quiet," he hissed, "unless you want her to hear."
His eyes dropped to my chest, lingering on the marks peeking above the neckline. Something in him snapped.
One hand slid under my dress, fingers skimming sensitive skin. He tugged the fabric aside, tracing my curves with rough admiration. "So soft."
Terror and humiliation warred inside me. "Someone will see—"
But I was no match for his strength. His touch burned everywhere, leaving me breathless and shaking.
By the time Sophia returned with the food, my face was flushed, my breathing uneven.
Miraculously, she noticed nothing.
At the table, they laughed while I pushed food around my plate, silent.
Then—a slow, teasing pressure glided up my calf. Under the table, Ethan's foot traced my thigh.
He praised Sophia's cooking like nothing was happening, even as his toes pressed insistently between my legs, rubbing through the fabric.
My fork nearly slipped from my fingers.
His foot worked with cruel precision, alternating pressure in slow, torturous strokes.
A shudder wracked me. I twisted away, barely escaping.
Sophia frowned. "You're all red."
I grabbed my wine glass. "Must be the alcohol. I should go."
Ethan stood instantly. "I'll drive her. I'm sober."
Sophia waved us off. "Have fun!"
I tried to stand, but my legs betrayed me. Had I really drunk that much?
Ethan scooped me up, his breathing ragged as he carried me to his car, his gaze dark.
We pulled up to my empty house—my husband still at work.
The second we stepped inside, he shoved me against the wall—
