Meanwhile, I was on a small island in the Seychelles.
This was a house my father had given me, saying only he knew its location.
Dad didn't ask why, or what had happened.
He simply asked one question: "Is this truly what you want?"
I nodded and said yes.
Before leaving, I had changed my surname—no longer Reeves or Calloway.
But Avery. Piper Avery.
The house was close to the beach, so every morning when I woke up, sea breezes drifted through my window.
In my leisure time, I walked along the shore, collecting seashells.
When I needed social interaction, I volunteered.
I didn't lack money or time.
My only wish was to be alone, without anyone to disturb me.
On the other side of the world, Knox and Jayden had fallen into desperation.
They had searched for a month but still found nothing.
The happiest person was undoubtedly Mila, who lived more comfortably with me gone.
She gradually claimed my possessions as her own.
One day, when Knox returned home dejected, he found Mila sitting in our bedroom.
She wore my nightgown and was applying my skincare products.
Seeing Knox's reflection in the mirror, she winked playfully.
"Knox, come here and help me tie up my hair."
With that, she extended her delicate fingers, subtly seducing him as she had in the past.
She was too confident, overlooking Knox's expression that had darkened to an almost dangerous degree.
The next moment, he dragged her out and threw her down.
Along with her went all the bottles and jars.
"If you want them so badly, take them all!"
Mila was hit in the face, her cheeks instantly flushing red.
Furiously, she shouted: "Knox Harrington, do you think I'm a beggar? I don't need this cheap crap!"
As she spoke, she kicked one of the bottles across the floor.
Knox's head throbbed with her noise.
Finally reaching his limit, he pointed at the door and bellowed: "Did you not hear me tell you to get the hell out? I found you a goddamn apartment already! Why are you still hanging around like a fucking parasite?"
Mila screamed at the top of her lungs: "I'm not leaving! This is my home!"
"You're just taking your anger out on me because Piper won't come back. Some man you are!"
"Hahaha, let me tell you something—she's never coming back. You know why? Because the night you and I were rolling around together, Piper saw everything!"
Knox's mind went blank, as if a string had snapped.
When he came to his senses, Mila was lying on the ground from his slap.
Mila was dumbfounded. She touched her face in disbelief.
At this point, any last shred of affection Knox felt for her completely vanished.
He looked down at her, just as he had looked at Piper three years ago.
Coldly, he called security to drag her out.
The butler tried to intervene but was silenced by Knox's threat:
"If you don't like it here, there's the door."
The staff held their breath. Everyone understood that Mila was finished.
Even Jayden no longer looked after her, allowing her to drift through various bars in self-destruction.
Another month passed before Jayden excitedly rushed to find Knox.
By then, Knox was on the verge of giving up. After more than eighty sleepless days and nights, he was physically and emotionally exhausted.
But Jayden brought good news:
"I hacked into Dad's email and found Piper's address!"
Knox stared blankly, as if unable to believe it.
Only after Jayden repeated it three times did he suddenly stand up.
He hurried out, as if fearing that with any delay, she might disappear again.
