The day to leave the island finally arrived. The night before, I barely slept at all. My mind kept replaying the image of Oliver knocking me to the ground, forcefully slamming my head into the floor.
Since I couldn't sleep, I decided to get up, go to the liquor cabinet, and pour myself a glass of whiskey. I stood by the window, drinking it slowly, alone.
Scenes from the past kept flashing before my eyes, like a movie on repeat. I had given up everything for Oliver—sacrificed myself and even severed ties with my parents just to marry him. And yet, he immediately cheated on me with another woman.
He almost killed me for Jennifer. No, to be exact, I had already died. The Madeline who was thrown into the sea by her own husband had died that day.
Now, the only thing that remained was a soul trapped in someone else's appearance, someone else's identity, unwilling to accept its fate.
At dawn, I would return to the familiar city, ready to begin my revenge on Oliver and Amelia. The thought of it made me feel energized. Every cell in my body was alive with anticipation, restless.
After finishing the whiskey, the sky was beginning to lighten. I collected my thoughts, washed up, did my makeup, and changed into fresh clothes.
Just as I was finishing, the maid arrived with breakfast, bringing it to my room. After I finished my meal, the maid took my luggage and led me to the airport, where a luxurious private jet was already waiting.
"Ms. Gordon, please board." The beautiful flight attendant gestured politely, then took the luggage from the maid's hands.
As I walked into the lavish cabin, I saw a man already seated on the sofa. I approached, and to my surprise, it was Mason. I asked, "What are you doing here? Are you coming back with me?"
Mason hadn't shown up in over a month, so I didn't expect to see him on the plane.
"Yes, I'm coming back with you." His expression remained as indifferent as ever, and he tossed a file folder toward me.
I asked, "What's in here?"
He replied, "Why don't you open it and find out?"
He had a point. I opened the file, pulling out a few sheets of paper, two keys, a stack of cards, and a brand-new phone.
Mason explained, "The papers contain Truxton Group's information and your address. The plane will land in two hours. You need to memorize everything on the papers before we land."
I glanced through the papers. The information wasn't too much. I was confident I could have it all memorized by the time we landed.
I nodded and started fiddling with the two keys and various cards. Seeing that, Mason continued, "One of the keys is for your place. There's already a maid waiting for you at your home.
"The car is parked in the company's underground parking lot, spot 16 in Area A. The license plate ends in four eights. The bank card has a million dollars on it, and the credit card can be used anywhere with no limit.
"As for the beauty and fitness cards, your maid will give you the details about the clubs' location. The phone has my contact information. If you have any issues, you can reach out to me at any time."
Once all the small details were covered, Mason became more serious. "I'm giving you one month for your revenge. You can use whatever method you want. Do whatever you think is necessary.
"But you must ensure your safety, and your identity mustn't be compromised in any negative way. Can you do that?"
