After a while, the doctor came out and said, "Ms. Duke has a mild concussion. She's asleep now."
Unreal—Moira got through a car crash with no problems and then got a concussion from all this "caring."
Since it wasn't serious, everyone left the hospital. Staying longer would've just been more embarrassing. Helen had already made the Knight family lose all their dignity.
But as they walked out, Helen slipped out of the car again. She begged Delilah to give her another chance, not to send her back to her family.
Delilah lost her temper, shouting at Martin and Richard for being useless. She said they were in cahoots with Helen, trying to drive her crazy. Martin and Richard stood there, feeling wronged, but too scared to say a word.
In the end, Delilah insisted on taking Helen to her parents' place herself. That was when Helen finally got scared. It didn't matter what she said. Helen quickly agreed to leave on her own.
But after all that had happened, Delilah didn't trust Helen one bit. She ended up taking Helen back anyway.
Before leaving, to stop anything else from going wrong, Delilah told Mason and Joey to stay at the hospital. She wanted them to talk to Edward, to see if there was any way to fix things.
Even though the hope was slim, a little hope was better than none.
From talking to Edward, Mason and Joey found out he'd actually been the one to introduce Moira and Richard. He'd thought it'd be a good match, both families being equal. No one could've guessed it would turn out like this.
Edward made it clear they should just give up. After what had happened, even if Moira stuck to it, her parents would never agree.
They were talking when Mason got a call from Martin. He said they needed a doctor fast. Delilah had fainted. They were heading back to the hospital right away.
Everyone was shocked. When one problem hadn't been settled, another popped up. When it rained, it poured.
Delilah was brought back to the hospital. She woke up before the doctors could treat her. But since she was old, a full checkup was still needed.
The doctor came back with the results. He said Delilah had fainted from anger and told her to stay in the hospital for a bit, to be watched. She could leave once she was definitely okay. Delilah's face stayed gray the whole time. It looked really bad.
Martin just felt awkward. Richard didn't say a word. No one knew what had happened.
The doctor wanted Delilah to stay in the hospital. But she insisted on going home. That was why they got back at that time.
After hearing what had happened, I was curious about what went on when Helen was sent back to her family. "Do you think her family wouldn't take her in? Is that why Delilah was so angry?"
Mason shook his head. "No."
"Then did they have an argument?"
"Even less likely."
"Nothing this, nothing that. Then what's the reason?" The more confused I got, the more impatient I became.
"How would I know? Go to sleep."
He was really tired after the day. I ran a bath for Mason. After he got out of the bath, I remembered something important. "You fired all the servants. Who's going to do the housework tomorrow?"
He gave me a look. "I did that to create a chance for you. Got it?"
"Nope."
"This is the perfect time to hire a new group. That way, you can consolidate your position. Once your position is solid, it'll be easier to look into what happened back then. Understand now?"
"Oh, right. That's it."
I got it this time. I gave Mason a thumbs-up. His logic was so tight. I really couldn't match that.
But I had one more question. "How does someone with her IQ keep messing things up for you again and again?"
