Mason's eyes were locked on me, still burning with that insatiable hunger. There was a dangerous glint in his deep gaze. It felt like he could pounce again at any second.
I instinctively reached for my clothes to cover myself, but just as I bent down, I was scooped up by him with a single arm.
"Hey, put me down," I cried out, my voice full of panic.
I was seriously scared. The earlier thrill had left me feeling like my bones were about to fall apart. If we went another round, I wasn't sure I'd survive it.
Thankfully, it wasn't what I thought. Mason held me securely in his arms, then casually grabbed his jacket and wrapped it tightly around me. With that, he strode out of the study and toward the bedroom.
I was about to relax, but my nerves shot back up. I clutched the coat and asked, "Where are you taking me? What are you trying to do?"
"I didn't even know when he managed to put his pants back on. But his upper body was still bare, toned, and powerful. My brain short-circuited for a second, and I actually counted—he had a freaking eight-pack.
Of course, that little glance didn't go unnoticed. He smirked, "Like it, huh? Just wait, you'll get your fill later."
"No, thanks. I've seen enough." I squeezed my eyes shut.
Before I could protest further, he'd carried me into the bathroom and gently lowered me into the tub. Hot water began to rush from the tap, quickly filling the space.
"You can be excused. I'll wash myself," I muttered, arms crossed over my chest, hugging the side of the tub.
He nodded. "Alright. I'll have Nadia whip up something to eat."
He turned and walked out. I was surprised that he didn't insist on staying.
The second the door clicked shut, I leapt out of the bath and rushed to the bedroom, locking the door with a snap. Only then did I breathe easy again. Back in the bathroom, I soaked in the hot water and finally relaxed.
But then I looked down at my skin—marked everywhere with soft pink bruises. My skin was sensitive, and even a gentle press would leave a mark, which wouldn't fade anytime soon.
Thinking back to what had just happened, I flushed. At first, I tried to hold back my voice, but eventually, I lost all control.
God, the noise we made could be heard by people in the entire house. I wanted to bury my head in the water and just disappear.
I held my breath and ducked under, hoping to drown my embarrassment away. However, three seconds later, I came up gasping for air.
Forget it. Death wasn't an option. I'd just have to live with the shame.
I had to admit that the sexual sensation Mason offered was something I'd never felt before. It was intoxicating and absolutely unforgettable.
After the bath, all I wanted was to crawl into bed.
But the second I stepped into the room, I stopped in my tracks. Mason was sitting on my bed like he belonged there. All traces of sleepiness vanished as I pointed at him in disbelief. I exclaimed, "Oh my, how did you get in here?"
He glanced at the food on the table and said, "Didn't I say I'd bring you something to eat? Don't be so dramatic."
"But I locked the door," I shouted.
He rolled his eyes and then mimicked my tone to say, "But don't you know every lock comes with a key?"
He held up a key and waved it at me smugly.
