"I have another challenge!" I yell at Arthur early in the morning as it's the second day we've been in Thailand. Yesterday we ended up going nowhere, but I did have a massive make-out session with a guy. And lost all the challenges so far thrown at me.
"What? Ready to lose again? It so early, no." He shook his head, stretching as he got out the bed.
"Last night was horrendous. I lost to you in a make-out which has never happened."
"You lost because of my splendid tongue." He said, licking his lips and making me look away.
Ever since we got on that jet it's like I've become a different person. I'm suddenly wanting to do these things with Arthur and don't want these things to stop either...
"Don't say that, it sounds gross."
"But true. You like my tongue. Wonder where else it can explore-."
"Arthur!" I screech, blushing as I roll out the bed. Shaking my head at his lewd comment that for some reason made me excited." What is wrong with you?!"
"Everything-."
"Boys!" We look as our door flies open, seeing my parents all dolled up like they're going somewhere. I bet they are, and going to force us to go with." We are leaving this wretched, amazing house and going to a Bangkok Food Market!"
As they cheer I frown, looking to Arthur as he claps in excitement for them. But his eyes are on me as he's just as confused.
"Food Market? Like going to a store or something-?"
"No! A food market over here is way different to a food market in America."
"How so?" Arthur asks." 'Cause in France we had Food Markets outside and self food that farmers made. Also unique dishes like snail or slabs of Turducken."
Now we all frown because, what the hell is Turducken?
"Remember I told you that you should try chicken stuff inside duck stuff inside turkey?"
I grin, gagging at the thought of that. It just sounds like a liver failure waiting to happen.
"Yep. I'm still never trying that."
"You will. I count on it-."
"This is so cute! You two are bonding!!" My mom squeals, ruining whatever moment him and I were having over food.
"Well, just get ready because we're leaving in thirty minutes before it gets crowded."
"I doubt a food market will be crowded."
"You'd be surprised." Arthur mumbles, my parents leaving at that as I fold my arms.
"What do you mean by that? What's the big deal about those things?" We go the closet as we sorted out our clothes yesterday.
"A food market is sometimes a place where people can get recognized for food they create and not sell it otherwise. So food markets are kinda like-."
"A mini business that you don't get paid for."
"Oh, they get paid alright. Maybe more than thought. I know what like to be at one of tables and sell food you put heart into. Then when people like it, then take it home. Makes me smile."
I cock my head in confusion.
"What do you mean? I thought you had a nice family and all."
He sighed, looking at me as if he didn't want to talk about it. His eyes getting glossy and the thought of a big guy like him getting choked up over that question is bizarre.
Seeing him grab a shirt, he threw it over his head as he shook his head.
"I not want to talk about it-."
"Why? Is it lie? What's the big deal-?"
"The big deal is is that my family not truly my family. My adopt family that took me in 'cause my mother not want me. Happy?! Now you know."
I watch as he shoves me to the side as he leaves the room. Making me sigh in anger as now he was mad at me over nothing.
But I had no idea that he was adopted. Would've never guessed by the way he acts and how much he seems like he likes the world. When I met someone who was adopted he was pissed off at the world because he thought his parents didn't want him.
It was his problem and all so I don't know why he was blaming everyone else. But Arthur never acted like that, so I would've never guessed. He just seems so...content.
Shaking my head I grab a shirt as I put it on, slipping on track pants as well. Leaving the room as I go down stairs. Seeing him not in the kitchen and my parents are eating.
"Where's Arthur?" I ask, and they glare at me.
"What'd you do? He said he wanted to be excused and eat alone. What the hell did you do William?! You were doing so well!" My Mom hisses, making me roll my eyes.
"I didn't do anything. I just asked him why he ever had to work in a food market in France; because you guys said he had a good life. So there should be no reason why he works there-."
"William that is very insensitive." My dad scolds, making me growl in annoyance.
"Sorry! I just asked a question that wanted to be answered; shoot me!"
"Bang bang; thanks for the honors!" My dad yelled, making me snort that he's trying to keep up with me. But he is only in his late thirties so I won't judge this time.
I get a plate, putting some eggs and lots of bacon on it as I grab a cup of orange juice.
"I'm going outside." I inform, them telling me not to but I do so anyway.
When I'm out there I see the sun rising and Arthur at the other side of the pool facing away from the sun. So when the sun is behind him and the rays below around him, it looks like he's shining.
Walking over, for some reason, I sit beside him. Setting my food down and he glances at me.
"I want to be alone-."
"Too bad." I interrupt, making him face back forward.
We just eat in silence, him avoiding looking at me and being a dickhead. I don't say anything just in case he takes the chance to run off.
But the whole time we're just eating. Not even talking all because of the question I asked. Shaking my head because it's so stupid that he's mad over nothing!
"Stop the shake of head. Makes look like bobble head."
I snort, looking at him as he grins.
"Are you mad at me?"
"Yes."
I flinch, trying to shrug it off as if it's nothing.
"I don't know why. I did nothing wrong. All I did was ask a simple question."
"Yes. You asked question you knew I not comfortable answering. Kept pressing. Not nice."
I sigh, trying my best not to cuss or anything.
"You're like a damn girl. Getting mad over small things and it's ridiculous-."
"I not get mad over small things. You one that take it to next level 'cause you have no filter. Your mouth not know when to stop talk. To shut up."
I glare at him, dumping the rest of my food on his plate of oatmeal; making him frown at me.
"And you say I act like girl." He mumbles, pissing me off even more. Getting my orange juice and dumping the rest in his water.
Smushing the plate on his food so that it'd make a big mess, then left. Going inside as my parents were putting away their plates.
"Ready to go?"
"Don't have a choice now do I?"
****
"Kai Med Ma Muang?" The old man asked, looking at the chicken as the tour guide nodded.
"This is fried chicken with cashew nuts. Here - any one of you allergic to cashews?"
We all shake our heads except Arthur who seems to be concentrating on something else. But practically here he's a huge celebrity.
Not only is he super tall, but he's black as well, and...good looking. So he has people having their cameras on him and they stare at him like he's some idol of some sort.
"Arthur?" My dad shook his shoulder gently, making him look down at him and frown." You okay?"
He smiles, having people around us getting excited as he shrugged.
"I fine. I am thinking on something." He says, making dad nod as he didn't even bother asking what's wrong. I would've because I'm nosy, but it seems like he's still down from me asking him.
He told me, that's great and all, but it doesn't need to be a big secret. I know now, so what?!
Arthur's adopted, okay? And?
I grabbed some of the fried chicken with cashews, passing it to him as he took it.
"Poison?"
I sneer," Just fucking eat it. If I was trying to poison you, you wouldn't know."
Making him raise his eyebrows, getting a different sample instead of taking mine. Pissing me off even more than I was before.
We left that and ended at this tofu table. Seeing tofu in different colors and shapes and...smells. As the tour guide explained to us about everything from the side of my eye I saw Arthur at a different table.
Looking at a person that was mixing a huge ass pot that had soup inside. Curious, I walk over to see what it was.
"Why are you over here? We're looking at this next-."
"I not like tofu. I look at delicious soup."
"I don't like tofu either, but I'm not being rude and leaving them."
He raised an eyebrow, making me realize that I did leave them... To tell him this.
"You're being a bitch." I sneer, and he shakes his head in a way of disapproval.
"I not being anything. You just rude."
I know my face is red because it feels warm, or maybe it's the steam from the pot. But either way I'm angry; resulting in me grabbing his arm as I pull him to a secluded spot. But with him he can't hide for that long because these people will search.
"You're acting like a bitch! Yesterday and this morning we were fine. Then I ask you a question and now we're back at square one."
"Exactly. Thank yourself for that."
I fold my arms, looking around to see if anyone was being nosy or peeking. But I was actually surprised to see some...groups of people that were guys who were clearly into one another. Expressing their gratitude and...love for one another...
But with Arthur and me we aren't...in love. This game is to see who falls hardest and I'm not sure who's winning... Clearly I'm losing, because I'm always making him angry and fall for his tricks so easily...
Is it me that's falling hardest...? No, it just got started.
Looking around and seeing nobody paying attention. I grip his face and yank him towards me, pressing my lips on his. Kissing him as he tries pulling away, and the only way he won't get away is if I do the gayest thing...
I wrap my arm around his neck and having a tight hold. Kissing him as now he can't get away from me. And I know he's not gonna try to get away whenever I feel his arms wrap around my waist.
There's only a matter of time before my parents begin looking so I need to stop this... But do I want to?
Before I can pull away, he does. But he does the exact opposite of what I thought he was going to do, shoving me against a wall and practically hiding me with his body.
Kissing me again for a hot minute and suddenly pulling away. Shaking his head as if he just lost his mind.
"I win." I whisper, and he frowns then when he realizes it he laughs. Pulling back as he pouted.
"Well play. But I win as well. It a tie."
I narrow my eyes at him, wondering how he had a challenge on - oh. Shoving me to the wall was probably it. Because I didn't pull away...
"You're always screwing me over."
"Not true! I do minimum."
"That's a damn lie!"
Making us laugh, we leave this corner to see that either no one noticed or they didn't care.
I don't know what's come over me - him clearly - but I know in the bottom of my heart that I am not gay. I just can't help but want to do all these things with Arthur though. Nobody else, just him; ironic considering how much has gone on with us.
We argue like...like a damn couple.
"So, its a tie?" I ask, making him smirk as he nods.
"Yes. I guess I had lot of tastes today," I blush, knowing what he meant," Sour, spicy, salty, sweet."
I roll my eyes, but I know I'm blushing like crazy.
"Sure. If you say so."
"I did say so. Merci beaucoup for pointing it out."
