I nodded gently and looked at Maliyah, who looked flustered and helpless.
She was stunned for a while. Her deep eyes were glistening with tears. She hugged her arms tightly, her eyes filled with sadness and helplessness.
"Laurel, she's my best friend," said Maliyah.
I didn't answer.
"How could she harm me?"
Maliyah slowly squatted down. Her body was trembling slightly, and her face was pale. Her expression was filled with grief and despair.
She pounded her chest with her hand as if she wanted to relieve the grief and humiliation in her heart.
It was as if the entire world had completely abandoned her.
"Maliyah," I called her softly.
I thought, 'Maliyah has always been protected well like most girls.
'Her living environment is not that good but not that bad, at least.
'Maliyah can find an average job like an ordinary girl. When she reaches a certain age, she will find someone to marry. Then she looks after her husband and children. They will spend the rest of their lives together.
'However, an accident suddenly occurred in her life, and that accident happened because of my appearance.'
My heart sank when I thought of that. I was a little nervous. "Maliyah, maybe I'm overthinking."
I squatted down and gently patted her body, unable to avoid her gaze.
However was it really just an accident?
I packed a few clothes for Maliyah. Then I went to buy emergency contraceptive pills from the pharmacy downstairs.
I watched her take the pills.
Maliyah stopped crying after leaving the house. Her red eyes were not as red as before, but at the same time, the laughter and the brightness in her eyes were gone.
She looked like a puppet on a string, making one's heart ache.
We hailed a cab and arrived at the Bluestar Hotel.
After getting a room, Maliyah closed the curtains and hid under the blanket.
"Laurel, I want to be alone. Don't worry. I'll get better."
Maliyah looked up at me with an inexplicable sadness in her eyes.
I reached out to rub her head and handed her the milk. "Drink some milk and sleep better."
Maliyah obediently took the milk and gulped it down.
When I reached the door, I heard her call me again, "Laurel."
"Get some sleep and forget about it," I said.
Maliyah looked at me and suddenly smiled. She nodded heavily, and the fine light in her beautiful eyes seemed to have regained its vitality.
"Maliyah, remember what you have," I said.
Then I closed the door.
I was afraid something would happen to Maliyah, so I put sleeping pills in her milk.
She could have a good sleep. She might be able to let go of what happened last night when she woke up.
At Dawnlight Entertainment Club.
A beautiful young girl stood under the bright light, but her exquisitely made-up face revealed a trace of fear.
She was brought here when she walked out of the hotel room.
"Laurel, why... why are you here?" asked Vivian.
A look of astonishment flashed across Vivian's eyes when she saw me.
Maliyah felt Vivian was innocent. How could she be innocent when such a coincidence happened?
"Where's Maliyah? She..."
I stepped forward and slapped Vivian's face hard before she could finish her words.
I took Maliyah's phone and found the hotel where Vivian was staying based on her Moments.
I immediately asked Angela to find out Vivian's room and check-in information.
Through the information, I learned Vivian had come to Nifelheim City two days ago, and her room had been upgraded from an ordinary room to a business room.
"Maliyah didn't ask you out. I did," I said.
Vivian lifted her hands to cover her face and stared at me in disbelief. Her expression was furious. "What right do you have to hit me?"
I chuckled at her words.
"Forget it. For the sake of Maliyah, I won't argue with you today," said Vivian.
Then Vivian turned around and prepared to leave.
"Have you forgotten what I sent you?"
Vivian stopped in her tracks and met my gaze. There was a hint of doubt in her eyes. "If I hadn't appeared, you would have called the police. I don't understand what that means. That's why I'm here. It wasn't Maliyah who sent it. I don't think I need to tell you this."
Upon seeing Vivian's innocent look, I retracted my gaze and smiled. "What do you mean you don't understand?"
I took my time and walked up to her again.
Vivian subconsciously took two steps back and glared at me coldly. "What exactly do you want? Don't blame me for being rude if you don't let me go!"
I could hear the anger in Vivian's voice, along with a hint of panic.
But so what?
"You should be grateful the person looking for you now is me but Javier. Tell me, what will he do to you if he finds out you bullied Maliyah like this?"
"I don't understand what you're talking about. I just invited Maliyah out for dinner last night. How can you say I bully her?"
"Since you're unwilling to say anything, I'll call the police. Let's see if Maliyah entered the wrong room last night or if someone deliberately led another man into a room that didn't belong to him and even took Maliyah away."
Upon hearing my words, Vivian suddenly sneered. "Then call the police. She was the one who left with a man. What has it got to do with me? I always thought Maliyah was a good girl. I didn't expect her to be such a woman."
As expected, they weren't afraid of Maliyah calling the police.
According to the surveillance footage, Maliyah did leave voluntarily with one of the men who entered the private room, but she was drugged.
And the effect of that drug would not last longer than six hours in the human body.
I sought out Vivian precisely to confirm whether the matter was a so-called accident or if someone had deliberately arranged it.
It seemed that someone had indeed set up a trap.
However, I didn't expect Austin to collude with Samantha.
I picked up a glass of wine from the table and approached Vivian step by step.
"You're right. I treated you to a drink today. I didn't expect you to be such an indecent woman."
I grabbed Vivian's chin and raised my eyebrows. "Don't worry. I'll find a man as unclean as you to serve you well today."
Vivian's face instantly turned pale. "Laurel Parks, are you insane?"
She pushed me away and turned to run, but she was kicked to the ground by the man who had just walked into the private room.
When Vivian saw the fierce-looking man in front of her, she was so frightened that she knelt on the ground.
"Laurel, please let me go. I was forced. Please let me go..."
