I leaned against the door and stared coldly at Alex. "You forgot to lock the door."
Inside, Alex and Helena were shocked by my sudden intrusion.
Helena quickly let go of Alex. A hint of fear appeared on her pale face.
She pursed her lips as her eyes filled with tears. She looked innocent and pitiful. "Laurel, I'm just here to wish Alex well."
I nodded nonchalantly as my lips curled into a smile. "Miss Cole surely has a unique way of wishing someone well! Unfortunately, I have an obsession with cleanliness. I find the things that other people have touched dirty. I don't know if they carry any diseases, so I like to change them all. Of course, this also applies to people."
As soon as I finished speaking, Alex frowned slightly and looked at me coldly, a hint of displeasure flashed across his face.
Helena was stunned. She did not expect me to say such a thing before Alex. She believed that I would know the importance of this occasion, and was shocked to see that I still appeared here.
"Laurel, I...I just have a weak heart." Helena's voice trembled and her face was filled with grievance.
"That's still a disease. You should not be here if you have such an illness. What if you unexpectedly meet someone who agitates you? That won't be good." I looked at Helena meaningfully.
"You." Alex, unable to tolerate me humiliating someone he cares about like this, finally spoke up.
However, I interrupted, "Alex, you should change your clothes. They're dirty now..."
Helena bit her lip and looked at me coldly.
I still had a smile on my face as I walked to Helena's side. "Miss Cole, you're here to attend the wedding banquet. You should stay with your family. Otherwise, I would think that you were here to snatch the groom. Seeing that you're so weak, you can't snatch him away. Fortunately, I've always been generous. Why don't I give him to you?"
"Laurel, your mother also has a heart disease, right?" Helena asked gently, but there was a sharp edge in her words.
I sneered to myself, 'Looks like she's finally going to fight back.'
"Yes. That's why my mother isn't here." My eyes narrowed and my lips quirked as I continued, "Where's your mother, by the way?"
I could not help but wonder if Helena's main purpose was to anger me so that I would slap her and she could turn around and cry to Alex. Unfortunately for Helena, she was nothing compared to Leah, who I was not even afraid of.
"Laurel, my stepmother and I don't have a good relationship. I just felt a little wronged so I came to look for Alex. I shouldn't have come. I'm sorry," Helena said as she lowered her head and looked extremely aggrieved.
"Laurel, Helena and I..." Alex started.
"I'm not talking to you. Shut up," I snarled, cutting Alex off.
Alex was stunned momentarily as if he did not expect me to be angry.
Even Helena looked surprised, but I still saw a flash of joy in her eyes. However, in the next second, as if she did not hear Alex's voice, she frowned slightly.
I glanced at Helena indifferently and said, confusedly, "Stepmother? I heard you call her Mom the last time you talked to her on the phone. I thought you two were on good terms."
Helena's body trembled in response. It was as if she suddenly realized that I had also heard the front part of the conversation and not just the end. That meant that I knew all the contents of the conversation, including her other motives for Alex.
"A stepmother is still a mother. No matter what, she's still my father's wife and Abigail's mother," Helena answered.
Although what she said seemed to be correct, in reality, every word she said was incorrect.
"So you've been acting in front of them?" I tilted my head and smiled at her. Then, I sighed softly. "I thought she was your biological mother. After all, it's unfair for you to tell your stepmother such a secret." I looked at Helena meaningfully.
I saw a flicker of panic in her eyes.
'It was easy to lie, but more lies would be needed to cover up that lie. In the end, a lie was still a lie,' I thought.
"Alex, I'll leave first. My father will be looking for me," Helena said hurriedly.
Before Alex could react, Helena left, leaving behind the sound of soft sobs.
"She's gone now. Are you satisfied?" Alex asked coldly.
I sneered and sized up the man in front of me. I frowned. "Your clothes are dirty. Change them. I'm a clean freak."
'Every time I met his deep eyes, I would lose my composure. His good looks were a hindrance. It was no wonder Helena was worried about Alex,' I thought.
I turned to leave, but Alex reached out and grabbed my wrist.
Looking at his suddenly gloomy expression, I felt fear in my heart, but I still had a gentle smile on my face.
The next second, Alex suddenly pulled me into his arms and leaned over to kiss me roughly.
I was shocked and subconsciously wanted to struggle.
However, when I glanced at the small bag that Helena had left behind, I smiled to myself. The hand that wanted to push him away snaked up his neck. I raised my head to let him kiss me even deeper.
Unlike kisses from the past, this one was domineering. His hand clasped the back of my head tightly and his other arm wrapped around my waist, as he pressed himself tightly against his body.
I could feel the man's hot breath coming out of his mouth and nose. The hand on my waist was a little restless.
The door was suddenly pushed open. I quickly pushed Alex away, took a deep breath, and glanced at him reproachfully.
Helena was stunned for a moment as if she did not expect to see such a scene. She picked up her bag from the chair in a panic and walked out with her head lowered.
I looked up at Alex, but I didn't notice anything strange on his face.
"Helena seemed upset," I noted.
Alex hummed in affirmation. Then, he began to take off his jacket and unbutton his shirt. With every button he undid, more of his skin and muscles showed.
"What are you doing?" I subconsciously took a step back.
Alex didn't say anything. He just walked to the door and locked it while unbuttoning his clothes.
At the same time, he pushed me onto the sofa and whispered into my ear, "I've been drugged."
Before I could react, his hot hand touched my cold skin.
The music outside the door was melodious, and there was endless laughter.
Meanwhile, in the lounge, I pursed my lips tightly and suppressed the sound in my throat.
"You...be gentle. I'm pregnant," I whispered.
The gaze in Alex's beautiful eyes quivered.
I had not been prepared to tell him, but this special situation left me no choice.
Alex's lips landed on my ear. "Okay, I'll be gentle."
