"Laurel, do you really think you can hold onto Alex's heart?" Helena's eyes curved into crescents as she smiled, her eyes exceptionally charming.
Hearing her words, I wasn't angry. Instead, I smiled gently. "I only want him."
I did not want to fight with Helena on such an occasion, but now it seemed that it was inevitable.
Helena had dared to brazenly go to Alex's lounge to seduce him. Any normal man would probably not be able to resist the temptation of that red dress.
I could not help but wonder if something would have happened between the two of them if I hadn't entered in time. Especially when I saw how eager Alex was to come onto me, as if he could barely endure his hunger.
I looked at Helena calmly and clearly saw the displeasure in her eyes.
"Alex said he would marry me," Helena said.
"But he has married me," I sighed and leaned close to her ear. "If you don't want me to slap you, get lost. You can leave your pretending for Alex. There's no need to try so hard in front of me."
Helena froze on the spot. Her hand that was holding the cup swayed slightly as she glared at me with her sharp eyes.
"Thank you for your blessings, Miss Cole." I gently touched her cup and left.
At this moment, the whispers below the stage could be heard.
"Gosh, it's just another woman that got to where she was because of her kid. If not for the child she's bearing, Mr. Herrera would never have married someone like her," one of the voices said.
Another voice chimed in, "That's right. The Herrera family is one of the richest families in Newton City."
"Raphael had always valued children. No wonder he's in a hurry to hold a wedding," another voice sounded.
Maliyah, who had walked to my side, heard the gossip and wanted to retort, but I grabbed her arm tightly.
I sat back at the table and looked at the meat in the bowl. My stomach churned, and I frowned slightly.
"Laurel, congratulations!" Juliet walked up to me with a glass of wine in her hand. Her beautiful face revealed a hint of guilt again. "Oh wait, I should address you more respectfully now, sorry, my mouth tends to move faster than my brain."
I couldn't help but sneer in my heart. It was clear she was doing this on purpose.
It was obvious she just wanted to tell or remind the guests present that I used to be Austin's girlfriend to plant the doubt that the child I was carrying might not be Alex's.
I nodded in agreement. "Indeed. Your brain really doesn't work very well. Otherwise, you wouldn't have done something so stupid."
Juliet was stunned. She did not expect me to humiliate her like this in front of everyone present.
"Juliet, what stupid thing did you do?" Wanda, who was sitting at the side, blinked her clear and bright eyes and asked curiously.
A sinister look flashed across Juliet's eyes.
Juliet had always seemed obedient and sensible in front of the Herrera family. However, it had been difficult for Juliet to hide her sharp edges ever since Yolanda was hospitalized and Ivan ran away from home. It was as if she wanted to prove to everyone that she was not as weak as they thought.
However, Juliet does not understand that she has always been a dispensable person in the eyes of the Herrera family and the Hill family.
Now that she seemed to have changed into a different person, everyone was very surprised.
Just as Juliet was about to speak, she saw me looking into the distance.
Everyone followed my gaze. Then, Wanda's face lit up with joy as she said, "Mommy, it's Ivan!"
Unexpectedly, the little girl seemed to like Ivan.
Juliet was shocked when she heard that. She turned around and saw Ivan and Yolanda quickly walking towards her.
"Ivan is back?" Linda said, a shocked look on her face. It was quickly followed by a mutter. "Juliet, didn't you say that your mother's illness was quite serious? She seems to be fine though?"
For a moment, Juliet did not know how to answer. After all, she did not expect Yolanda and Ivan to appear at the same time.
Juliet had thought that Yolanda had been sent to the intensive care unit as her condition had worsened. But Juliet did not know that I had found someone with the same name to trick her.
Juliet's face instantly turned pale. Her eyes turned cold and a trace of fear quickly flashed past, but she forcefully suppressed it.
Juliet knew in her heart that even if Ivan could not produce evidence and even if Yolanda trusted Ivan, as long as Beckham was on her side, she would be safe.
Yolanda walked straight to Juliet and looked at her with a meaningful gaze.
Juliet hurriedly asked, "Mom, why are you here?"
Yolanda sneered, "You're not my daughter. From today onwards, don't call me Mom."
Yolanda paused and took a deep breath. "Are you disappointed that I'm standing here and not dead?"
A look of panic appeared on Juliet's face, and her body trembled slightly. "Mom, I know that Ivan running away is my fault. I know my mistake."
Ivan remained silent, merely staring at Juliet.
At this moment, Beckham, who was sitting at the next table, sensed something amiss. He quickly walked over and reached out to grab Yolanda's arm.
"Honey, what's wrong? If there's anything wrong, we can talk about it at home." Beckham frowned slightly and looked displeased.
Yolanda shook off Beckham's hand and glanced at him from the corner of her eye. She said coldly, "If this wasn't Alex's wedding banquet, I would have slapped her long ago."
"Yolanda, stop fooling around." Beckham lowered his voice and looked displeased.
Yolanda glanced at Juliet with deep disgust and hatred in her eyes.
"Beckham, I'll ask you in front of everyone here. You have to choose between us today. Either get her out of the Hill family or we'll get a divorce!" Yolanda declared.
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone's gaze landed on Beckham.
Juliet never expected Yolanda, who had always been timid and weak, to declare divorce on such an important occasion.
Juliet immediately ran to Amanda in a panic and cried, "Amanda, please help me persuade my mother. I really don't know what I did wrong."
Amanda glanced at Juliet but did not protect her as usual.
Beckham frowned. His eyes moved back and forth between Yolanda and Juliet as he weighed the pros and cons.
He gritted his teeth and looked at Juliet. "Juliet, move out of the Hill family first."
"Dad, even you don't want me anymore?" Juliet seemed to be in disbelief at Beckham's decision. Her voice sounded teary.
Ivan, who had been silent all this while, looked at Juliet. "If you want to cry, cry outside. Don't ruin the happy mood."
